Advantages and disadvantages of using Information and Communication Technology
Information and Communication Technology can be defined as technological aspects of society that basically deals with the fetching of data that is under the communication platform. This theory deals with all kind of emerging technologies that are being used in the processing of data management in the course of business planning. This technology is one of the most evolving technology and this have been globally accepted by the audience. Information and Communication Technology has been affecting corporate sector as well as the business organizations in a both positive and negative way. Information and Communication Technology has been also affecting cultural aspects of the organization. Information and Communication Technology also helps in spreading of cultural specialties of a society. Information and Communication Technology also helps in technologically uplifting society. Despite all this benefits that Information and Communication Technology provides, ethical issues might arise in the processing of the Information and Communication Technology in our regular life.
In case of usage of Information and Communication Technology in business organization the major advantages they enjoy is that the can gain access to the data that are stored in the data center of the organization, leading to the fact that the data that is present in the data base can be accessed by different sectors of the same organization, this leads to the fact that the data can be seen in the processing of the business management (Vroman, Arthanat and Lysack, 2015). Better bonding of the employees of the organization is also one of the major benefit of using Information and Communication Technology. Data that are stored in the data center and can be accessed with the help of Information and Communication Technology can also acts as a reference for the organization (Brown and Rappert, 2017). This reference setting will also help the organization employees to project the business planning in a better way. This leads to the fact that the efficiency of the organization in their functioning increases. This is one of the major reasons that has increased the usage of Information and Communication Technology in regular life (Aurigi, 2016). Due to the usage of Information and Communication Technology for transacting data that are present in the data center also has a disadvantage and that is the security issues that might occur during the transaction of the data through the digital medium (Kolberg and Zühlke, 2015). This leads to the data stealing of the clients and they suffers to regain their data back. Despite these disadvantage, Information and Communication Technology is used in all sectors of industries and business organization, leading to the fact that the data transaction that is performed will be having a higher efficiency (Tyner, 2014). Advantages of Information and Communication Technology is much higher than that of disadvantages that are present in the processing. In recent years, usage of Information and Communication Technology has been increasing exponentially, and the percentage of business organizations that has been using different models of Information and Communication Technology has drastically increased (Westerman, Spence and Van Der Heide, 2014).
Ethical issues that arise with Information and Communication Technology
Information and Communication Technology has a very positive affect on the cultural aspects. This leads to the fact that each and every data can be accessed by any one and from any part of the world. This leads to the fact that the data can be made approachable from any part of the world in a legal way (Shockley-Zalabak, 2014). The rural areas have been positively affected by this technology. People located in the rural part of the country can get accustomed with the norms and regulations that are generated by the government of the organization, leading to the fact that they stay updated (Gillespie, Boczkowski and Foot, 2014). This phenomenon can be possible when the usage of Information and Communication Technology is made. This is one of the major reason that Information and Communication Technology is used and promoted by governments of all countries. Usage of Information and Communication Technology can also be used in the sharing of cultural aspects of particular state or a country (Bar, Weber and Pisani, 2016). This technology of Information and Communication Technology is also used for projection of the culture that is getting obsolete in today’s world. Information and Communication Technology also helps in sharing the good points of a culture with all the immigrants who possess the sane culture but cannot get the access to the culture due to different barriers that stand in between them and their culture (Webster, 2014). Usage of Information and Communication Technology can also be done in harming the cultural aspect. This is due to the fact that imposters can make illegal happenings might harm the concerned authorities both in physical as well as mentally (Katz, 2017). Despite these kind of problems that has been detected are less relevant and less important than the importance that Information and Communication Technology provides. This is the sole reason that usage of Information and Communication Technology has been increasing for promoting cultures.
In today’s society, usage of Information and Communication Technology is one of the major fact that has helped entire society to increase communication between members of society. This leads to the fact that the data that is stored in the data center can be accessed by others located away from them (Kuzlu, Pipattanasomporn and Rahman, 2014). This helps in proper circulation of data and this is the major reason that this technology is used. Another major benefit of using Information and Communication Technology is that it helps in connecting with more people at a whole (Mayer, Borges and Simske, 2018). Despite all this terminologies the major problem that Information and Communication Technology faces is the lack of security in the processing of the data transaction. The medium that is used by the Information and Communication Technology might not be robust enough and imposters who want to gain access to the data can affect the data flow in a negative way (Burbules, 2018). This is the sole reason of applying security barriers in the transcription of data that are being transacted through this medium. Staling an individual is one of the most harmful aspect of the organization as this can harm the victim in both manual a d virtual stages of life. Despite these kind of disadvantages that are present in this platform, the advantages that it provides are very high (Erol-Kantarci and Mouftah, H.T., 2015). This is the major reason that usage of Information and Communication Technology has been increasing ever since the starting of their projection.
The impact of Information and Communication Technology on cultural aspects and society
With the advancement of technology, today everything seems to be connected. This has been possible for remarkable progress both in the information as well as the technology. Hence it is popularly termed as information and communication technology or the ICT. Although the advancement has significantly improved the way people today retrieve information for communication purpose (Silverstone, 2017). But it has bought some issue along with that. Apart from the technical issue, the ethical issues are worth noticing as the ethics cannot be compromised advancement of the technology. One of the primary concern leading to the ethical issue is the security of the users (Silverstone, 2017). As computers are getting connected with the internet, the security issues are also increasing. In order to steal the information from the owner computer, hackers track IP address and get into the system and then without thinking whether it is ethical or not, steals the information for mere profits. Another tools used by even the big companies is to collect information about cookies which is then used by this companies to showcase relative product to increase the customer base and making themselves buying something. Although it might seem ok, but collecting information without the acknowledgement for the owner is no less than stealing which is not ethical at all. With the advancement in the ICT, it has even become possible to get into the private life of someone else with the help of internet webcams and hacking them to acquire personal information (Vaishnavi and Kuechler, 2015). ICT has also helped people to steal someone else creative and original work which violates the copyright issue that is also not ethical. Although the technology itself cannot be blamed for this, however this must be accounted for the ethical issue while assessing the technology from ethical perspective. However, it should be remembered that ICT is a mere technology, how it should be used completely depends on the users. Hence it is not right to only blame the technology for the ethical issue, but the users should be held responsible equally (Vaishnavi and Kuechler, 2015).
From the above essay it can be concluded that usage of Information and Communication Technology has been benefitting all the sectors of the society. The glitches that t Information and Communication Technology has can also be mitigated with the help of proper security tools and installation of firewall. From this essay, this can also be concluded that the data global acceptance of the Information and Communication Technology has been really high. More research is still in progress for making the platform more robust in nature. Attaining a more robust platform that will be used for Information and Communication Technology will act as a better transaction of data. This essay also suggests that the data that are transacted through Information and Communication Technology can be secured with implementation of firewall in the platform. This leads to the fact that the data that are being transacted are transacted with proper security and the efficiency of data transmission can be increased.
