Connectivity of IoT in Business Organizations
One of the major revolutions in the digital world is the use of the Internet of Things (IoT). This is a concept wherein various devices connected smartly to make easy communication of passage of information. This can be used with the help of any device like smart TVs, smart phones, smart watches, laptops, desktops and even smart homes. This system helps in providing a unique identity to the environment where the communication is needed (Botta, A., De Donato, W., Persico, V., & Pescapé, A. (2016). This environment helps in enabling interface of human, objects and devices so that data and information can be moved or transferred. Unlike the traditional connectivity, the Internet of Things (IoT) helps in connecting to a wider range of devices along with enabling the support of monitoring of the communication being done.
Considering today’s business, organizations are getting into complex organizational and communication structure that calls for constant support and improved productivity. Internet helps in connecting people together by reducing the distance and the helping in having constant virtual touch with each other. Internet of Things (IoT) has added support to the cause and has helped in making things even simpler and highly effective. It has helped in connecting the social communication, business and people with the business transactions, and other organizational systems. Actuators and sensors used in the Internet of Things (IoT) helps in connecting machines and the systems together to support in reducing human interventions. Lesser the human interventions, lower is the occurrence of any kind of risks that might affect the productivity. Not only that, Internet of Things (IoT) has also supported in expanding the range of connectivity to a wider range along with providing support for all kinds of business needs.
The current discussion is to identify and evaluate the impact of Internet of Things (IoT) in the business specie in any organization. The work is structured to a research work that will be having a research issue or problem followed by identifying the ways to address the same. The work is primarily based on literature references along with analysis of various articles and scholars related it the topic.
Although Internet of Things (IoT) is highly supportive for running and sustaining a business. However, at the same time it affects personal and professional lives. Proper enhancement is highly required to as to improve the reliability of the use of the Internet of Things (IoT) along with better security and lowering threats and risks (Antikainen, M., & Valkokari, K. (2016).
Research Problem Statement
There are four problems identified with respect to the identified topic and those are listed in the data recording section. These problems are directly related to the effectiveness and efficiency of the impact of the Internet of Things (IoT) on the business along with identifying ways to improve it or to manage and monitor it effectively (Yu, X., Nguyen, B., & Chen, Y. (2016). Each problem identified would be addressed individually so that there would not be any confusion or lack of clarity in the data and information related to it.
Data for the above identified issues are collected from various sources, including the primary and the secondary sources. Operating and monitoring of the Internet of Things (IoT) are done through various processes running in each organization. It became highly significant if the flow of data is quite high or there is a need of having numerous connections. Literature references are taken as the primary source of the data for the discussion as this will help in adding much value to the current topic. Many articles and journals are also taken into consideration for the secondary sources of data (Mishra, D., Gunasekaran, A., Childe, S. J., Papadopoulos, T., Dubey, R., & Wamba, S. (2016). They can provide updated and highly relevant information that can help in supporting the cause of this research work. Later part of the research work include a suitable research methodology that can help in adding value to the overall research work along with improving the credibility and reliability of the research design.

Four type of categories define the research work type and those are,
- Correlational – It is a non-experimental research type wherein two variable are measured and analyzed by the researcher followed by establishing statistical relationship between both.
- Descriptive – This type of research work is based on finding the facts and figures that can helps in stating the existence of something at the present. It is more of a practical approach to the work which is supported by surveys, content analysis, historical analysis, etc.
- Experimental – This is a scientific approach that the researchers uses to derive to a conclusion. Here quantitative research method is used for defining the research work and establishing a relationship. A set of variable are considered to be constant and are regarded as standards and the other set of variables are measured against it.
- Quasi-Experimental – It is a causal-comparative experimental method that support the research work (Botta, A., De Donato, W., Persico, V., & Pescapé, A. (2016).
There are three type of research methodologies used based on the type of research work, and those are
- Qualitative Research methodology– A specific phenomena is being taken support for exploring the research work. It does not support proving any prediction but used qualitative approach like social information, views, interviews, etc. For data collection and analysis. It helps in conceptual explorations but limits scientific information or context (Antikainen, M., & Valkokari, K. (2016).
- Quantitative Research methodology– On the other hand a more objective approach could be seen in case of the quantitative research methodology wherein a hypothesis is crafted by the researcher and based on it, different tests and structured experiments are carried out. It is highly depended on statistical data and facts.
- Mixed Research methodology– An understanding of multiple research design can help in adding multi-dimensional approach of creating a research methodology (Mineraud, J., Mazhelis, O., Su, X., & Tarkoma, S. (2016). Likewise, the mixed method used both qualitative as well as quantitative approach to support the research work along with adding value to the research outcomes. Several measures are used in this approach including interviews and statistical data.
Research methodologies could be of different types but the right kind of research methodology will help in supporting the work along with adding more credibility and reliability to the research outcomes. Thus, it is highly essential to select the right research methodology. Considering the current discussion and the selected topic, I would like to select the mixed research methodology to be part of the research work. This is because it will provide understanding of multiple research design can help in adding multi-dimensional approach of creating a research methodology (Zdravkovi?, M., Trajanovi?, M., Sarraipa, J., Jardim-Gonçalves, R., Lezoche, M., Aubry, A., & Panetto, H. (2016). Likewise, the mixed method used both qualitative as well as quantitative approach to support the research work along with adding value to the research outcomes. Several measures are used in this approach including interviews and statistical data.
Data Recording
Two primary problems are identified in the above section and now it is important to understanding the reasons and cause of these issues and how to support in limiting or eradicating the problem.
- Lack of reliability- Proper enhancement is highly required to as to improve the reliability of the use of the Internet of Things (IoT). This can be managed through improve the operational and monitoring part of the use of the Internet of Things (IoT).
- Connected to limited devices– Currently there is a limitation in the numbers of connection of devices in the Internet of Things (IoT). This limits the connectivity during critical time or during emergency. This calls for improving the scope of connectivity and providing better support in the could so that multiple number of users and use the environment at the same time and can work in parallel (Caputo, A., Marzi, G., & Pellegrini, M. M. (2016).
- Security challenges– enabling multiple users in a common environment increase the risk of security issues where in there is change that the critical data can be misused or data loss can happen. Highly secured and protected environment is encouraged and is required.
- Downtime issues– Multiple users would put lot of pressure on the severs and this might affect the operating ability of the Internet of Things (IoT). Cloud based Internet of Things (IoT) is highly encouraged for the same.
As discussed, I would be used both literature references along with mixed research methodology to support the current research work. Literature references are taken as the primary source of the data for the discussion as this will help in adding much value to the current topic. Many articles and journals are also taken into consideration for the secondary sources of data. They can provide updated and highly relevant information that can help in supporting the cause of this research work (Mineraud, J., Mazhelis, O., Su, X., & Tarkoma, S. (2016). The mixed method used both qualitative as well as quantitative approach to support the research work along with adding value to the research outcomes. Several measures are used in this approach including interviews and statistical data. Both will help in providing data along with statistical information that can be used for the research work. Both qualitative and quantitative approach will help in supporting the research work in different direction and this versatility would help in adding value to the work (Antikainen, M., & Valkokari, K. (2016).
Conclusion
