Organizational change in the workplace is considered as the process which focuses on the changes in organizational strategies, processes, procedures, technologies and culture. The changes that are made in the workplace impact the overall operations (Al-Haddad and Kotnour, 2015). In the workplace, which is named by ABC Company has also implemented the changes which has affected the entire process. It has been observed that changes in the workplace should be there so that it can be easy to maintain the productivity level and growth in highly competitive market. The company deals in the business of online retailing and the activities are managed at the global level. The changes that were made in the workplace were related to communication channel with the customers and also with the employees. The top authorities emphasized on making changes in the channel of communication. These changes are made because of the set-up of different branches in the city. Earlier the flow of communication takes place from the top authorities to the subordinates. But this has enhanced conflict and confusion in the workplace as it is not easy to share views and opinions with the management.
Earlier, the management gives instructions and the employees have to follow that only. The employees were not free to share our views and opinions with the management and if the employees are not satisfied with the decisions then also they have to implement it in the workplace. So, it has been examined that this has affected the retention power of the employees and also the growth of the company.
By analyzing the flow of communication issue, the management focused on modifying the overall channel of communication. In the workplace, the changes were made in the overall hierarchy. The management promoted the employees on the upper position. The employees who are performing well in the workplace are promoted to the higher authority on the position of team leader and the employees who have the experience and also were good performers are promoted on the position of the manager of the department. The hierarchy has been changed by the company so that the issue related to communication can be resolved. In hierarchy of the company, the management level has been added in which there are team leaders, managers and then directors. The directors have the responsibility to take the decisions but the team leaders and managers have the responsibility to guide the employees and also they give their feedback to the employees in the workplace (Harmon, Green Jr and Goodnight, 2015). Now, if the employees have doubts in their task then they can easily discuss it with the team leader and if it is resolved on that position then it is good. But if it not resolved by the team leader then they communicate it with the managers of the department. But, when the issue is not resolved by the manager of the department then the manager report to the director of the company so that accurate decisions can be taken. At last the directors give the accurate decisions in context of the issue faced by the employees in the workplace. The overall change made in the hierarchy of the company has boosted the working pattern of the employees and also it has given motivation to the employees to work with efficiency and dedication towards the assigned work (Stouten, Rousseau and De Cremer, 2018). Also, it has boosted the working pattern of the branches set up by the company as the division was made by the management in context to the different departments. Now it is the responsibility of the team leaders and the managers of the department to resolve the conflict and issue faced by the employees in the workplace. The different branches set up by the company are managed now with proper coordination and also with longtime relation with the employees.
Changes Made by ABC Company to Enhance Communication and Productivity
So, with the change in the overall hierarchy, the management emphasized on solving the issue prevailing in the workplace and also it helped in boosting the overall productivity level of the employees. At the time of joining the organization, it has been examined that employees were facing the issue related to the channel of communication. It was not able to clear the doubts with the management and due to this the negative impact was on the overall productivity level. The employees were not able to give their best in the workplace as employees were not able to clear their doubts with the management and also the working structure was different. The same issue was also faced by the other employees in the workplace. Just due to this major issue the organization was not able to enhance and boost the overall efficiency of the employees. Due to this, the impact was also on the overall growth in the highly competitive market. By having lack of communication with the management, there were many doubts which exist within the employees but due to fear they are not able to share it with the management and also it has impacted the overall image of the company.
The experience in relation to this issue is that, at the time of joining the company, it has been observed that there are many employees who were new to the system and also they have no knowledge of the overall process which is conducted in the workplace. At that time, the employees faced the issue in conveying their information to the higher authority. The other employees in the workplace guided each other but they are also not able to give accurate guidance as they do not have clarity in the overall process (Petrou, Demerouti and Schaufeli, 2018). Due to lack of communication the issue was enhanced and also the overall profitability of the company was reduced. When the profits are reduced, the management focused on modifying the entire channel of communication so that growth can be attained and also the main of bringing the change is to boost the overall image of the company in the highly competitive market (Holloway, Romme and Demerouti, 2018).
But when the organizational change was made by the management, it has been observed that there were drastic change in the working pattern and the performance of the employees has also been boosted. Now, employees can easily share their views and opinions with the team leader and with the manager and they can also convey the issue faced by them to the higher authorities. The prompt actions are now taken by the management when the employees give their feedback on the actions which are taking place in the workplace. The changes have brought modifications in many areas related to production, profitability, employee relation and also it has boosted the overall goodwill of the company. Due to change in the overall communication process, now the employees can take guidance from their seniors and they have the duty to resolve the conflict faced by the employees in the workplace. This has brought clarity in the working pattern of the employees and also now the employees share their doubts with each other easily.
Impact of Communication Changes on Employee Satisfaction and Company Growth
One of the major benefits which have been analyzed due to this change is related to the coordination level of the different departments. Now, the departments coordinate with each other and this has boosted the overall productivity of the company. With the changes made by the company in the company, the management also emphasized on making the change in the overall flow of communication with the customers. Earlier, the company only interacts with the customers through emails but now the changes have been made in the website. Now, if the customers have any doubts they can directly switch to the “Live Chat” option and from there they can now easily communicate with the executives. The issues faced by the customers at the time of ordering the products or any doubt related to delivery or cash back can be resolved by switching to the live chat option. This change was made so that the experience of the customers can be enhanced and also it has given a platform to the customers to interact with the executive of the company and in less time they can share their feedback and can solve their queries in a proper manner. With the change made by the company, in their website the satisfaction level of the customers has been boosted. It has also helped the company in enhancing the sales of the company as now the executives can communicate with the different customers and can convince them to purchase the products. So, the change made by the management in the entire process has impacted the overall activities of the company. Now, it has been observed that company has attained the large market area and also enhanced the satisfaction level of the employees. In the present scenario, the workers like to work with the company and also they take active part in the overall activities of the company. It has enhanced the market share and also helped the company to attain the positive outcome (Lewis, 2019). It has been observed that there are various challenges which are faced by the company due to lack of communication. One of the challenges is related with boosting the overall productivity level of the employees. The employees in the workplace do not have clarity in the overall working operations so they are not are not able to give their best towards the organizational activities. Also due to lack of communication, the negative impact was on the factor related to retention. It can be stated that when the employees does not have clarity in the work then the interest towards the work cannot be generated. Motivation is also one of the aspects that were not present in the workplace and it is because of lack of communication in the workplace. So, this is one of the major aspect faced by the employees in the workplace as the working structure is not clear and it has reduce the interest of the employees in the workplace. Due to this the challenge faced by the management was related to retention of the employees. By analyzing the entire challenges it can be stated that company was not able to attain growth and profits due to lack of communication in the workplace.
For example: it has been observed in the case, that the new employee in the workplace does not have the knowledge of the system and also there was lack of communication in the workplace. In this case, the interest towards work was not enhanced of the employees and they start leaving the company. The challenge faced by the employees was related with understanding the overall process of working and also the activities which were managed in the workplace. To resolve the issue of lack of communication with the management, the company focused on bringing changes in the overall hierarchy. The new hierarchy was designed by the company so that it can be easy for the employees to communicate with the higher authorities. The hierarchy was designed by the company in which there employees were promoted on the position of the team leader and also on the managers. By promoting the senior employees on the position of the team leader and manager, the management solves the issue of lack of communication. Now, in the workplace the employees share their views and opinions with the management and also it helped them to solve their queries and issues faced by the company.
Also, to maintain the communication process with the customers, the management brought change in the website. The company focused on introducing the option of “Live chat” which helped the customers to share their doubts and with this concept the management focused on enhancing the satisfaction level of the customers. Through live chat the executives communicate with the customers that solve the queries of the customers and also it has helped the company in maintaining the market share in the highly competitive market. The customers now can give feedback and can solve their queries through communicating with the option of “Live chat”. So, it can be stated that company considered effective strategies which maintained and resolved the issue of communication.
