Components of Atlassian Information System (IMS)
An information system is a software which directly helps in the sector of analysing the data and organise the data. It can be beneficial in the sector of answering questions which are related to the sector of answering question and solve problem which are relevant to the gaol and the mission of the organisation (Mollalo et al., 2015). The concept of information system can be stated to be modifying the aspect of business courses and review of the business. Many of the organisation in the internal working of the organisation deal with huge amount of data. The data in this context can be considered to be facts of basic value which are stored in the concept of the database. The main purpose of the information system is to turn the raw data into the information which is useful that can be used for the sector of decision making in the organisation.
The report takes into consideration an organisation which directly uses the concept of the information system and related the different functionality which is seen in the system. The focus point would be on the aspect of how competitive advantage can be gained from the concept.
The organisation which is chosen in the report is the Atlassian. The Atlassian information system (IMS) can be considered as a message based transaction manager and the database manager which is hierarchical for z/OS. Applications which are external directly use the aspect of transaction in order to interact with the application which directly run inside the IMS
There are basically two components which are related to the IMS which are stated below:
- IMS transaction manager (IMS TM): It is a message based transaction manager which is related to the output and input of the message. The IMS TM manages the message which is related to the aspect of security, queuing, scheduling, formatting, recovery and logging.
- IMS database manager (IMS DB): It can be considered as a system of database management for the aspect of defining the structure of the database (Fountas et al., 2015). The main aspect which are taken into consideration is the processing of the data, data performing queries and the performing of the transaction of the database.
In addition to the components which are stated above, the IMS connect manage communication for the IMS, connecting more than one client with one or more system in the IMS. The connection of the IMS directly handles the working balance and the direct support which is related to the Atlassian support client and the IMS TM adapter of resource. There are different adaptation which is related to the concept of the processing of data and the adaptation of the information which would be processed in the section.
The concept of the information system can be stated as a mid-range main frame or network concept of the computer system which would be directly allows possessing which is distributed for a user group and accessing the same application of the software. The information system directly provides the management with the control over the data with various tool which is related to the extraction of the data or the view of the records and the structure. The main role which is related to the information system would be to foster the management of the data environment which is very much robust and can be directly be extended according to the strategy of the organisation plan relating to processing of the information. An information system can also be used in the sector of the satisfying the need of the diverse information needs in an organisation.
Automation of Manual Tasks
Automation of manual task
In the working of the organisation there can be different type of platform which can be incorporated in the concept of automating manual task. The concept of the automation of process can be beneficial in the sector of saving of time, resources, money and the enhancement of the working of the organisation. There can be different type of enhancement of the information system which can be included into the working of the organisation which may include automation of the manual tasking, involvement of the concept of the robotics into the information system which can be used in the sector of the internal operation of the business.
The main sector of the emphasis would be the software oriented product (Arrouays et al., 2014). This is mainly selected due to the factor that there are different innovation in the field of software and as a result of which the demand in the sector can be stated to be also increasing.
There can be different types of working of the organisation which would be related to the concept of the reaching of the competitive advantage relating of the organisation. The competitive strategy and the role of the information system are stated below:
Competitive Strategy |
Role of the information technology |
Leadership of cost |
The organisation can directly use the concept of information technology in the sector of the operation which would be developing a shift in the paradigm in the sector of the cost oriented factor (Laudon & Laudon, 2016). The factor which can be incorporated in the sector would be the cost of the supplier and the customer. |
Innovation |
The organisation can directly use the concept of the information system to identify and create new product and services which are related to the concept. They can directly be incorporated into the aspect of working with new strategy which would be enhancing the overall strategy of the organisation and the working of the organisation (Kasemsap, 2018). It can be stated here that there are different types of aspects which are related to the working of the networking and it is the role of the organisation to take into consideration different aspects which are related to the concept which would be included into the concept of the creation of the new technology. Meanwhile it can be stated that everything is connected to the laptop, computer and other devices by means of cabled internet or network by means of wireless connection. There are plenty of opportunity which is related to the concept so that innovation can be included into the concept of the internal working of the organisation which would lead to competitive advantage even. |
Alliance of the strategy |
Organisation can directly make use of the information system in the sect9r of the enhancement and creation of relations with the partners such as the application for example development of virtual organisation and inter organizational information system. |
There are different types of information system which can be implemented within the working of the organisation. The main focus which is put here is the implementation of two information system which would be beneficial for the Atlassian. The recommendation of the information system for the organisation would be the performance management system and the decision support system.
Performance management system
The visibility aspect of the performance management system can be directly be related to the increasing of the involvement of the employee and how the overall working of the organisation can be enhanced.
Decision support system
The main visibility aspect which is related to the decision making system can be stated to in the sector of the alteration of the decision making aspect which is related to the crucial information of the operation of the business.
Performance management system
The main advantage which is related to the performance management system are stated below:
Consistency: The sector which is related to the employee in the sector of transfer, promotion and other related actions can be very much be improved and consistent. The main consideration which is taken into consideration in the aspect is that right person should be involved into right kind of job should be related to right kind of person.
Motivation: All the employee should be highly motivated so that they can directly indulge into the different working of the organisation and benefit the organisation and the different sector of working which is related to the concept (Ahmadi, Nilashi & Ibrahim, 2015). The implementation of objective performance can be considered to be very much important in the sector due to the aspect of management and outstanding performance which is related to polices, transfer and promotion.
Training: The sector of training can be considered to be very much important due to the aspect of altering the involvement of the employee and the sector of the deployment of different kind of working within the aspect of the organisation.
Competitive Strategy and the Role of Information System
Decision Support system
The main aspect which is related to the advantage of the decision making system can be stated below:
Time saving: The aspect of the decision making system can be considered to be one of the sector which is related to the substantial reduction in the decision making system and the involvement of time into the concept. The time saving aspect which is related to the decision making aspect can be considered to be very much substantial relating to the computerised decision making aspect.
Interpersonal communication improvement: The decision making system can directly improve the sector which is related to the communication aspect. The main impact which is related to the concept can be ion the field of communication driven Decision making field.
Cost reduction: The concept of the decision making system can be very much beneficial in the sector of the reduction of the labour which is related to the aspect of decision making. This concept can be considered as one of the most primary factors which is related to the aspect of decision making aspect.
Performance management system
The main disadvantage which is related to the performance management system can be in the sector of the length of the system and the complexity of the system. The employee in the system can directly suffer from the aspect of low self-esteem which can directly impact the overall working of the organisation (Turel & Bechara, 2016). The employee should be given appropriate involvement into the organisation so that they can easily indulge themselves into the working of the organisation.
Decision Support system
The main disadvantage which is related to the concept can be related to the aspect of the information which is overloaded into the concept. In most of the cases the operation which is related to the aspect can be stated to be complex which mainly includes different professionalism included into the concept.
