Interview Questions

Once you are done reading the cover letter and resume which I have attached, complete this assignment.

So here is the question.

For this assignment, think of a job you would like to have in the future (this can be the same job for which you are tailoring your resume and cover letter). Write the answers for all 10 interview questions you could anticipate for that job thoroughly and uniquely.

• Your answer should include a claim (an answer to the question asked, directly).
• Your claim should be followed by a specific, detailed example (it should support the claim you made).

Look at pages 166-171 at the “better answers” for help.

Type your chosen questions and answers in a document that is proofread and spell checked.

Each answer is worth 2.5 points. The claim is worth 1 point and the example is worth 1.5 points.

In the next class period, you will answer up to 5 of these interview questions with a partner.

Examples:

Do you prefer working alone or with others?

I prefer working with others because I believe that it’s faster to get the job done when everyone works as a team. One time, at the dog salon that I volunteer at, there was a huge dog that need to be bathed. It took 2 people, including myself, to get that dog completely clean within an hour. If it was just me cleaning the dog, it would have taken more than 2 hours. That was when I realize the importance of teamwork in the working environment.

What are you greatest strengths? Your greatest weaknesses?

My greatest strength would be the dedication that I contribute to every task that I perform. I like to do my best and complete every task well because I do not feel comfortable or satisfied if I feel like I did not contribute my best to help keep the company running. For instance, one time I was tired during a day of volunteer work and I was very sluggish in my work. I knew I’d feel guilty at the end of the day unless I became more active, so I did some jumping jacks and drank some green tea, and was ready to go again. It’s important to me to always give it my all. My greatest weakness would be that I have the tendency to forget things easily. For instance, a few months ago, I felt like I would go to a room to retrieve an item, but end up forgetting what I was going to get.  So I decided to do something about it and I am improving my memory by jotting things down on a notepad or entering them into a reminder app on my phone, whatever is most handy, to remind myself of the things that need to be completed. My new system is working out well for me and I’m training myself to focus more on the task at hand.
