Section 1: Examine the job market
Selecting an effective and appropriate career is difficult for an individual. It rather creates confusion in order to choose an apprentice industry in order to experience a relative growth in the future. Hence, it is necessary to study about the present as well as the future trend and analyse whether it will turn effective or not, hence, the present study has been conducted in order to gather information about the different kind of trends which are available in the local as well as international market. Other than this, it is also important to identify the different tools that are available in the market relating to employment. Hence, the present study will further discuss the benefits while choosing an advertisement journalist as a career option.
Step 1:
The organisation of Campbell’s Arnott’s Australia provides adequate scope for employment along with professional development within the organization. This company is essential deals with food such as packaged items like cake and soups but its key products are its packaged biscuits (arnotts.com.au, 2018). As the main motto of the company is to learn and grow, therefore, key trends in careers in this company can be identified in a thorough manner. Some of the important and potential positions in this company have been discussed as follows:
Marketing Executive: The role of a marketing executive is one of the most demanding job roles in the 21st century. In accordance with the increase in digital technology, online as well as the offline mode of strategic marketing is required (Kashmiri & Mahajan, 2017). Therefore, this job role has plenty of opportunity in the company of Campbell’s Arnott’s and is proposed to increase according to the growing trends of the country.
Project Manager: The Company aims to create more growth by diversifying its products. However, the launching of a new product requires various steps and core teamwork which is not possible without a project manager. Therefore, through the aid of a project manager, Campbell’s Arnott’s will be successful in planning and executing different projects under its belt. Thus, it can be asserted that the aspect of the project manager has the most scope in.
Packaging Executive: It is a human psychology to go after a product or service which looks appealing (Jenke, 2018). The products should be kept in such a manner so that food items of Campbell’s Arnott’s remains at its original condition. Therefore, products in proper condition are undoubtedly more appealing to customers. Thus, this job role has much potential of increasing in the near five years.
Financial Manager: The Company of Campbell’s Arnott’s is experiencing a steady growth rate; therefore, its revenue is also increasing. Through the aid of a financial manager, the company can experience more growth through the implementation of financial strategies. Therefore, the role of the financial manager has adequate potential in this future of this company.
Sales Executive: Sales executives play one of the most important roles in almost every organisation. This aspect is the same for the company of Campbell’s Arnott’s; therefore sales executives play an important role in selling particular products of the company to increase the revenue rate of the company. Due to this factor, there is a proper career scope for this job role in the next five years.
Section 2: Examine a paid occupation
Brand Manager: As the company of Campbell’s Arnott’s is a food organization, therefore, special focus is needed to be paid on the branding of the product. In the 21st century, people are growing more health conscious and people are getting picky before buying a product (Muñiz Jr, Norris & Alan Fine, 2014). Therefore, the scope for brand management is improving because only through proper branding of a product, the company can experience an adequate growth rate.
Step 2:
The job market is pretty much changing regularly; therefore, while some jobs have been gaining more potential while a few others have been decreasing. In the country of Australia, the most affected is the manufacturing workers as the growth rate of the industry has decreased up to 24%. This has lead to a high turnover rate in the manufacturing industry. In the 21st century, the world is growing more accustomed to technology (Goldin & Katz, 2018). Therefore implementation of driverless, also known as automated cars would lead to unemployment of numerous drivers. In contrast to that jobs in the mining and retail industry have been growing at a rapid rate. Even the education sector has experienced adequate growth. Robotic technology is also developing at a rapid fast rate; there various assessments in the hospitality industry can lead to a decrease in helping staff. Even in the publishing industry, it has been observed that various journals are being prepared by robots instead of journalists thus leading to a decrease in the job rate. Lastly, the job of making chandlers has also gone out of style because people prefer a more innovative method for their lightning.
Step 3:
From the assessment of step 2, it has been found that the factor which has the most impact in decreasing the particular job trends is because of the increasing use of technology. Technology has not only made the process of execution of jobs in a faster method but it also provides accurate results with the implementation of the current input. On the other hand, manual labour is more expensive and consumes more time; therefore the industry is gradually shifting towards the technological side. However, the aspect of technology has also proved to be a boon in various sectors such as mining and retail sector where various things can be executed in a better manner. Growth in the education sector is also one of the most important driving trends which have increased various job roles (Bloom, Draca & Van Reenen, 2016). Thus, these are the two main trends which are thoroughly impacting the job market.
The kind of career that is preferable to me is in the field of Advertising and Marketing. It is one of the most growing fields in the 21st century where I can adequately utilize my skills to execute my job in an orderly fashion. There are various future aspects in the field of Advertising and Marketing such as advertising specialist, account executive, research analyst of the market (Lehmann & Joseph, (2015). This field of career also has various other potential job titles such as consultant, coordinator and creative director among others. Therefore, it can be asserted that this field of career provides a wide range of opportunities along with a wide scope for internal as well as external growth. According to my opinion, being an Advertising Specialist would suit me the best. In this profession, not only will I get the opportunity to implement my skills in marketing and research but also adequately implements them for bringing growth in an organization.
Section 3: Examine an unpaid occupation
In Australia, the field of Advertising and Marketing is increasing at a steady rate and has a high potential for future growth (joboutlook.gov.au, 2018). Therefore, by being an advertising specialist, there will be a lot of opportunities in performing various tasks in the department such as devising and assessment of advertising campaigns for different products and companies. According to Jones, Comfort & Hillier (2018), through the aid of creative content, the focus of consumers can be turned towards that particular product which would in turn help in increasing the revenue rate of that company. The role of advertising specialist comes with a lot of responsibilities as they have the ultimate objective of creating creative content to engage the audience. Along with this, activities such as planning of promotional campaigns, dealing with clients, spreading awareness for consumers are also a part of the job responsibility. As asserted by Corkum et al. (2017), the responsibilities do not end here; in fact, an advertising specialist is also sometimes responsible for creating media scripting, creating artwork and copywriting among others.
In order to work as professionals in the field of advertising and marketing, it is important to have a bachelor’s degree or higher educational qualification. Graduates from the field of journalism or literature background are the most preferred for this job. As opined by Todorova (2015), having adequate experience of five years also provides a lot of help in securing a job in this field. This experience can be gained by doing an internship or working as a freelancer. Having experience is more preferred in this industry as experienced employees will be able to deliver the end products at a fast rate along with providing quality content. The average salary for an advertising specialist is about AU$79,959 per year. A graduate will be able to start their role at an entry position with a salary around AU$56,000. This field of work has adequate scope for improvement; therefore with the increase of experience, one would be able to earn up to AU$112,000 (communicationscouncil.org.au, 2018).
A specific set of skills are required for working in this field of advertising and marketing. Some of these skills are already acquired during the process of education while the others are gained. According to Ashley & Tuten (2015), creativity is one of the main skills required for providing fresh and unique content. Other than this handling various IT software and project management skills are also acquired in time of working in this career. Apart from problem-solving skills, effective teamwork can be learned. Active listening skills along with time management skills can also be learned and experienced in this career path.
Therefore, it provides adequate scope for a person to expand their skills in different careers in the industry. A person can effectively work as a project manager for reputed companies and also handle the responsibilities of a team leader. Most importantly one can move to a higher level of employee in the same industry as well. Enough experience in the field of advertising specialist can help a person to build a career as an editor in the publishing industry. Along with that, more creative opportunities such as creating special contents for television and various websites can also be executed in a proper manner. As an advertising specialist, one is required to work with much IT software, therefore, one will be able to effectively utilise this skills for better work performance (Refer to Appendix 2).
Section 4: Examine recruitment
An advertising specialist has a set of roles and responsibilities that are needed to be executed in order to successfully achieve the desired result. As commented by Terkan (2014), in simple terms it can be stated as a paid promotion that effectively uses different strategies to spread information regarding a product or service. Through the aid of this method, awareness about these products or services is spread throughout the common mass. In order to attract potential customers, the advertisements are needed to be refreshing and unique through which customers can be attracted towards that certain product (adassoc.org.uk, 2018). Therefore, in this case, advertising specialist play a vital role as they are involved in providing the creative content. Thus, their social contribution is adequate in spreading awareness about certain products and services through which the customers can thoroughly benefit as well. As per the view of Jenke, 2018), advertising specialists also provide their contribution in enhancing the social texture of a country. Creative contents produced by advertising specialist for campaigns aids in making a successful change in the society. Therefore, the effective performance of advertising specialists can help in creating much-needed changes in the society.
From the assessment in the previous factor, the role of advertising specialist in society has been thoroughly understood. Therefore, in accordance with this aspect, its economic impact can be accessed as well. Advertisements created by advertising specialist, the whole economy of the country can benefit from it. Through the aid of accurate advertisement, the revenue rate of a company can be increased. The rate of advertisements in the country of Australia has been slowly but steadily increasing. From 5.1% it has now reached about 7.3% which have impacted the economy of the country in a significant manner (theguardian.com, 2018).
This increase would adequately impact on the country’s economy as well and therefore would help the country to rise in the global market. Another of the most important role played by advertising specialist is that through their contents various people all over the world become aware of certain products as well as services, which in turn helps in increasing the standard of lifestyle (hbr.org, 2016). This aspect undoubtedly has an adequate impact on the economy of the country. Not only will it give rise to the increase in a monopoly if the product but effective increase the rate of sales as well. Thus, this section contains a brief discussion about the exploring different careers in advertising and marketing professional.
Volunteering Australia is working in order to advance volunteering jobs in an Australian community. The organization plays an important role of leadership among its members and community. It aims at building strong community relations and also engages with government, non-profit organizations and individuals in order to develop mutually beneficial relationships. Moreover, the organization has maintained its trustworthiness and reputation to build a sustainable organization.
It would be a pleasure for me to volunteer for fundraising in charities. Again organizing programs for youths can also be beneficial as learning and using those skills to help other students can work as a societal advantage of developing the knowledge and skills of future generations. Again I would like to conduct tasks on preparing care packages for disadvantaged people of the society so that the economy as a whole can actively contribute for the development of the nation (Refer to Appendix 1).
I do it as I believe in the work itself and think that I get a lot out from it than I expected before. I get to learn various new things every day and am happier while conducting events like rescuing dogs, assisting animal shelters and so on. My resume is bolstered with the various skills that I have obtained by my experience. It has turned me into an effective worker and made me more hireable. I have been able to overcome my weakness of not easily involving with the society, community or individuals. These activities also provide me with a greater knowledge of the world.
Similar to an employee, a volunteer also needs to be well trained. The induction and the training of the volunteers requires the following areas to be covered,
- Conflict and Resolution
- Fire and health safety
- Protecting children in times of danger
- Prevention of infection and control
- Equality, diversity and rights of human
- Protecting the adults that are vulnerable
- Resuscitation
The industry of volunteering is gaining is gaining steady popularity in Australia (volunteeringaustralia.org, 2018). Various people are keen on engaging with volunteering work nowadays. Although volunteering jobs does not provide much compensation but there are paid positions available in this sector. Daily helpers and distributions play a vital role in this sector and which is also a paid position. Overseeing works of the whole department and management, an organization of events are also an important aspect which falls underpaid jobs.
Volunteering is an effective way of building up new relations with the society. It strengthens the bond between communities and helps to remain exposed to a larger population that has similarity with me in terms of thoughts. It is easier to build social skills with the greater involvement with the society. Therefore, professional jobs in academic careers would undoubtedly suit me. In this area, I will get the adequate chance of imparting knowledge and helping other people understand important aspects of life. The paid job of a teacher would be the most suitable role for me.
Step 1:
The innovative approach to recruitment is being implemented in every passing day in the job market of Australia. According to Kashmiri & Mahajan (2017), this aspect not only helps in the identification of employees suited for a particular company but also makes the process much faster and effective. In order for gaining proper employees, various organisations are choosing the process of external recruitment for faster and effective process. Therefore, this has helped in the assessment of some of the biggest recruitment companies in Australia which are listed as follow
- The Next Step
- Beaumont Consulting
- Ethos BeathChapman
- Six Degrees Executive
- Parity Consulting
- Robert Half
- Morgan Consulting
- Hudson Australia
- Smaart Recruitment
The above-mentioned companies are the biggest recruitment companies in Australia which various recruitments in sectors such as technology, banking, non-profit organisations and business services. These companies also deal with placing people in sectors dealing with marketing and sales, supply chain and telecommunication among others.
Step 2:
Australia is matching its steps with the innovative trends in the process of recruitment. As forwarded by Gaertner et al. (2016), there are some specific procedures or trends that can be observed in the process of recruitment. These processes stand out from the traditional process of recruitment and have adequate potential to be implemented in the next five years by various companies. Therefore, some of these upcoming trends in recruitments have been discussed as follows:
Talent Relationship Management: This aspect can be essentially liked with the management of recruitment through the aid Candidate Relationship Management or CRM software. This software helps in assessment of adequate various candidates according to their skill set so that accurate candidates can be chosen for particular companies who would best suit its needs. It can be stated that it is a holistic approach where identification of talent, along with its engagement and building of talent networks are required. About 48% of the recruitment companies might adapt according to this growing trend.
Implementation of a social recruiting strategy: This strategy effectively uses various social networking platforms in order to hire potential employees. According to Powell et al. (2016), social listening tools have been gaining popularity through which direct interviews can be held over social media.
Agility over experience: a Traditional process of recruitment focuses on the level of experience a person has but according to this agile method, a practical assessment would help in the determination of the candidate among who would be the best fit for an organisation. Although only 56% of companies believe in this method it is undoubtedly one of the best methods which are gaining popularity (hbr.org, 2016). This would help people with adequate potential and skill but no experience to have an equal opportunity for getting selected.
Artificial Intelligence: Through the aid of Artificial Intelligence or AI, the skill set of various employees can be measured in a quick process. This would not only decrease labour cost bit also help in saving a lot of time. Therefore, this trend has the biggest possibility of its application in the job market of Australia within the next five years.
Virtual reality: The aspect of virtual reality or video interview is one of the latest trends which are becoming popular at a rapid pace. This aspect of recruitment allows people from different places to opt for an interview without having the trouble to travel all over the office for an interview. This is one of the fastest emerging trends to be integrated y various companies within the next five years.
Data-based decisions: Through the aid of data analytics, the assessment rate of various employees can be measured in order for their process of selection. Although this process requires a bit more funding it has adequate potential as well.
Step 3:
It is important to choose such companies which would allow sufficient personal as well as professional growth rate. However, before that, an assessment of various food organisations should be made so that the aspect of employment targeting becomes easier. Through the aid of proper assessment, it has been observed that food organisations such as Brunch Bakehouse, Quarter Bakehouse, Quarter Business Center, Thai Paragon and Number 5 Cafe Restaurant provide an adequate scope of growth. Among these organisations, some are restaurants while others are retail shops, however, they are all related to food organisations and therefore this is an effective list of targeted organisations to gain employment.
In order to choose this accompany for employment, thorough research is needed to be performed. Through this research, importance procedures and policies of the company can be accessed which is important to be known. Therefore, it can be asserted that the Internet is an effective platform for research from where I can get plenty of information about the companies chosen by me. Job portal websites are also a preferable way to research the companies and its current and potential future growth structure (Killian, & McManus, 2015). Moreover, mission and vision statement can be found in the company’s website through which information can be accessed.
In the 21st century, there are various methods of a process through which one can apply for employment. Innovative procedures are increasing at a rapid rate where employment can be sought out through the respective company’s website. Every company has a respect section known as careers where the available positions are stated. If these positions meet my requirement, then I can undoubtedly apply. Nowadays, there are various consultancies which offer a practical test for getting into a chosen company. The job application can be submitted in the company’s portal and if matches the required criteria, interview call would come. Therefore, this is another effective opportunity. Other than this there are various exams for jobs which can be given for earning respective positions. Career workshops are also another method through which employment can be adequately sought out.
One of the best methods of recruitment according to me is the direct process. In this aspect after direction application in the company’s website or email, an interview can be conducted if that candidate is chosen directly by the company. I feel that this process would allow both the interviewee and the company the opportunity to access if they are the best suited for the company or not. The method of a direct interview can be followed through the process of engagement in a company through the aid of various consultancies. In this method, job application can be done through consultancy websites containing information for different organizations. In this method, practical assessments of the interviewees are done practical methods where I can get a fair opportunity for my skill assessment before getting the deserved placement. Therefore, according to me, these two methods are the best options for proper recruitment.
Conclusion
Business all around the world is working hard to gather more interest of the customers and increase their productivity. Hence, different marketing tools are being used in order to describe their uniqueness among other companies. Thus, different marketing and advertising ideas are essential for attracting customers and growing their business further.
