I chose to do my Work placement in Ajman Police General Command exactly in Quality and Strategic Mgm Department, Ajman Police was established in 1967 under the name of Police and Public Security Command. Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman, issued orders to establish the police. Nowadays they have employed around 20,000 employees. Ajman Police General Command working hours are from 7:30 AM to 2:30PM or from 8:00AM to 3:00PM in normal days.
Since I started my internship in Ramadan, working hours tend to be more flexible where an employee can reach their work and leave at 8:30AM to 2:30PM,. For me, I preferred to choose these specific working hours from7: 30AM-2:30PM. My work placement is Ajman Police General Command in MUSHRIF area. And it’s the Head office. There is one website for Ajman police www.ajmanpolice.gov.ae which is mainly for online consumer’s services and providing information about Ajman Police in general.

As for my first week, it’s considered as new experience to me but at the same time I was happy with it because people in my department were very helpful and welcoming.
Also For the first week, the work was given to me was it was light but useful and it was kind of orientation about the department which is quality, strategy and excellence and their job roles there, how their work is done, on which aspect they focus, what are their main duties and responsibilities, how they communicate and collaborate, which standards they adapt and follow and more are yet to come in upcoming weeks in addition to those areas mentioned above in depth. In addition process and policies, business excellence and process improvement sections roles. What I love about Ajman Police General Command that is their work is matching what I learned and it is applicable to what I studied in my major such as ISO certificates where Ajman Police General Command were achieving ISO 9001 quality tools such as flowchart and fishbone, and the knowledge about quality that we studied and covered in the academic year. Analytical skills which I learnt from my major were helpful because I have to understand their processes from their charts and data and look at them understand where the problem occurs. This department which is quality, strategy, and excellence as I’m a part of Governance Management Team, where their focus is on their processes, and certifications.in addition, they gave a chance to attend of their meeting which helped me to understand and realized how they manage processes, how presentation of that meeting should prepared to be formal and specifically to the main points.
Communication (CLO2)
I really find good communication at this work place, and it makes understanding things much easier because explanation is provided by both languages Arabic and English and there is always open communication which facilitates information sharing and understanding easily. I usually communicate with managers and colleagues, until know I did not deal with customers as far as I know quality, strategy and excellence role in the organization. Therefore, my supervisor whom I deal with the most is Captain Abdulrahman Alzarooni, he is very helpful, supportive and knowledgeable and keep track of what I do and need to learn and he never leaves me without an unanswered question and he response to me directly. In addition to communicating with Lieutenant Ahmad Nasser Al Naimi. Who is also the VP of the department, he always assists me if I need or I don’t understand anything and keeps track of what I do. We communicate most of the time face-to face in the workplace, sometimes my supervisor communicates with me by WhatsApp to inform me if he is going for a meeting or sends me information needed for my journal such as, number of employees or if he is going to be absent. Language skills that is being used in the work place are listening, because my supervisor and head of the department always gives me instruction and tell me whether to attend a meeting and explaining the procedure of the work so I have to be an active listener to not miss anything because everything they say is important and since I’m new to company. Speaking skills are important and required to communicate with everyone in the workplace, in the first day the head of the department and my supervisor have asked lots of questions orally about my major and college so I have to speak to them fluently in both Arabic and English.
As Mr. Abdulmajeed Othman a quality specialist who gave documents regarding ISO certification to take an idea about it and report to him what I don’t understand. In addition to his explanation about each certificate that is achieved by Ajman police. Challenges regarding communication for the first week was not understanding the abbreviation and some terms that they use related to quality, strategy and excellence department, therefore, tried to ask my supervisor for help and more explanation and things became easier. In my first week I was a bit shy to ask people that I don’t know and even my supervisor but I tried to my best to overcome this and ask whatever I need regarding the workplace, procedures and directions because if I didn’t ask I won’t learn anything new.
Evidence for 1ST week
Regarding the evidence, the head of the department is allowing and showing all of their files but they are highly confidential where I only can share meeting notes. Regarding the code of conduct of Ajman Police referring to Ajman Police HR department they said it is confidential. And he show the ISO certificates of Ajman Police, and some sections from the book that they publish late this year which is about the Global Standards Specification Guide to Ajman Police General Command.
