Discuss about the Knowledge Management and E-Learning.
This Consolidated portfolio reflects the role of the project manager and system thinking in project management. This is very much important for the project executives to serve their daily job roles professionally so that the issues of professional project life can be minimized accordingly. Information system is referred to as an integrated set of components that helps to collect, store and process data as required. In order to provide necessary information to the users and of the employees who are associated to a task. The difference between the products and project management are also elaborated here. The process information storage, processing and data retrieval become much easier with the help of the information System (IS). Information systems are generally used to run different inter-organizational supply chain as well as electronic process. It has been found that with the successful implementation of the total concept of system can be eventually developed the standard process of information system.
The main concepts of information system in terms of system thinking are also illustrated in this portfolio. This portfolio is consists of learning of 11 weeks. Starting from week 1 to week 11 all the learning details are gained and accordingly. The relationship between the system thinking and information system can be gained from the successful learning of the case. The way through which the process and concept of conventional project management has been changed with the information system are also gained from the learning outcomes. The tools and techniques of the system thinking are also gained from this weekly learning portfolio. The dependencies of project development with the system engineering are also obtained from the weekly learning. It has been found that the application of project management can lead any project towards effective knowledge management and decision making.
Summary:”Explain the relevance of the system thinking to a project, program and portfolio management”. The system is referred to as a collection of different elements and components those are organized accurately to meet a common purpose. The term system demonstrates the organization or plans itself. The computer system is consists of different hardware components those are again selected very much carefully so that a system can work much effectively to run a computer. The explosion which, tore through the deepwater horizon drilling rig on 20th April, as the crew of the rig completed its drilling the exploratory Macondo well deep under the water of the Gulf of Mexico. In this case many members of the crew were died and injured with this accident. The explosion that took life of so many people could have been prevented. The engineers who have designed the Macondo well with the engineers of the BP were also part of the board of the members. They discovered the oil and gas reservoirs but it was quite difficult to drill it. They took the challenges but failed to overcome the challenge. Thus, it can be said that the Information system (IS) should be developed in such a way so that it can avoid all unexpected challenges. The designer should develop a project based work flow to avoid all unexpected risks. The developers should have focused more on the quality assurance considering the development standard. System Thinking has many disadvantages also those are needed to be considered by the designers before the development of the system.
Importance of System Thinking in Project Management
Evidence: The evidences are collected from the “Full Final Report from the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling” document.
Summary: “Identify different system thinking tools and techniques to aid project manager solve the project problems”. The concept of project management and system thinking always overlaps each other. It is quite surprising that, the project managers do not seem to utilize the simple system thinking tools and techniques though these tools and techniques provide unique benefits in the field of farming and problem solving. The members of BP are all ready to proceed along with the new collection of tools very immediately. For the offshore fighting no valid tools are collected by the engineers. In order to address all the necessary human dimension fewer numbers of tools are considered by the system developers. In order to resolve these issues the developers should have selected all necessary modern management tools accordingly. For regulating the system accurate diagnostic information tools are needed to be considered by the project managers and the system developers.

Summary: “Assess relevance of system engineering to project cases”. The learning of this week helps readers to gain idea about the relevance of system engineering with the project cases. It has been found that for the successful implementation of the system thinking ideas can lead developers towards portfolio management. There is a huge difference between the system engineering and requirement management together. Proper system engineering leads the developers to produce, reduce and design all necessary changes to the system. Based on the requirements, demand and focus of the consumers the system engineers should build the system. The manufacturing section and the directors basically direct the company towards the success. Throughout the project planning phase it is very much for the project manager to consider all necessary and fundamental portfolio standards. In order to enhance the skills of the employees who are working in a project team for each project case, system engineering should have to be used by each of the project heads. It has been found that project based work into the system engineering is involved within the project planning and for project controlling also. The engineering integration is very much helpful for both technical and non technical projects. For enhancing repeated success of the business organization it is very much necessary to accompany all the processes accordingly.
Tools and Techniques of System Thinking to Solve Project Problems

Summary: “Description on system engineering concept and methodologies organize the project”. From the lecture slides of week 4 it has been found that for the successful implementation of any project it is necessary for the project head to consider the concept of system engineering and methodologies for organizing the project. Proper system engineering methodology can lead a project manager rather assists a project manager. In order to identify the system engineering opportunities and the effective way through which the issues of system oriented problems can be resolved are gained from the this week learning. Before the final implementation of the system the developers are required to check or test the entire system properly. After analyzing the case scenario it has been found that, in order to determine the environmental management approach it is necessary for the project managers to develop the new safety concept. In order to restore the ecological region it is necessary for the developers to consider the concept of enhancement.
Evidence: The source of the evidence is “Systems life cycle processes” and Kerzner, H., & Kerzner, H. R. (2017). Project management: a systems approach to planning, scheduling, and controlling. John Wiley & Sons.
Summary: “Explain importance of proper selection of the project management application system”. In order to manage any project properly it is very much necessary for the system engineers and the project managers to select the most suitable application system. For this particular case scenario application system was required to protect the workers health by lowering down the concentration of the volatile organic compounds, present in the surface area. Proper application is required for monitoring and controlling the environmental toxic guidelines. INPO model is applied in the system to fulfil the purpose of offshore drilling. It is necessary for the system engineer to apply the remote sensing, diagnostic and instrumentation applications at the right place. Moreover, it can be said that, safety applications are required to be applied by the project managers for the successfully protecting the environment from external hazard. Application of proper contingency planning will help the project managers to gain long term success accordingly.

Relevance of System Engineering to Project Cases
Summary: “Describe the use of PM application system PM knowledge management”. It has been found that with the successful implementation of PM application system in PM knowledge management it is very much necessary to apply in order to gain better performance based on the organizational structure. The main aim of project managers and the project developers are to reach the project objectives within the estimated time frame and budget. The initiatives are also required to be connected to the project plan to satisfy the project objectives. The project productivity will automatically increase and the engagement of the project team members will automatically enhance with proper application of the PM applications. For the nominated case scenario in the offshore oil and gas context the application of the NEPA requirements are very much necessary. Thus, it can be said that with the successful selection of proper Project management application, the issues of project implementation can be completely resolved.
Evidence: The source of the evidence is “Systems life cycle processes” and Kerzner, H., & Kerzner, H. R. (2017). Project management: a systems approach to planning, scheduling, and controlling. John Wiley & Sons.
Summary: The week 7 lecture of the course deals with “Compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of various manual and electronic PM application systems with PM knowledge over the life cycle of the project”. This is completely based upon the choice of the project owners. Some of the project owners prefer the manual record keeping system where they can store, delete and insert new information as per their choice. On the other hand there are some other project owners who prefer the automated record keeping system which delivers up-to-date information to the users automatically. The electronic record keeping system helps the project managers to record the business transaction including the income, expenses and worker’s payment. It gives an efficient direction to the project managers to keep both the financial and personal credential secured from the externals. It will automatically tally the amount and provides all the necessary reporting functionalities to the project owners. It gives high level of advantages to the project managers and at the same time it has many disadvantages accordingly. The automated electronic data management system allows the users to store the records as a backup also so that their information can be placed in a safe location accordingly. In order to keep the security of any system and the content of the system proper accounting system software is required to be kept by the project managers.

Evidence: The source of the evidence is “Systems life cycle processes” and Kerzner, H., & Kerzner, H. R. (2017). Project management: a systems approach to planning, scheduling, and controlling. John Wiley & Sons.
Summary: “Identify how PM application systems can assist project managers to monitor performance and manage changes within the project”. It has been found that, project management application system always assists the project managers for monitoring and manages the project changes within the project during its development and implementation phase. Different system thinking tool is referred to as an art that helps to understand and describe the forces and all internal relationship to shape up behavior of the system effectively. The roles of the system thinkers are to design the entire process appropriately considering certain factors in a proper manner in terms of objectives, desire or expectation of the consumers from the system, perceived gap, and current situation of the project organization and the flow of the processes in the organization. It is the role of the projects head to organize the projects in such a way so that it can gain the project objectives. There is a presence of feedback everywhere, after considering all the feedback if the project managers develop a project then there is a chance that the project meets all the requirements of the consumers and the objectives those are set at the project initiation phase. Moreover, a group decision should be prepared by the project managers. Different project management application systems in terms of software are available in the market. However, based on the background of the project the project manager should select the project management tool. The project management application acts as an assisting tool for the project managers.
Evidence: The source of the evidence is “Systems life cycle processes” and Kerzner, H., & Kerzner, H. R. (2017). Project management: a systems approach to planning, scheduling, and controlling. John Wiley & Sons.
Summary: “Discuss and propose of proper project management application system”. From the current status and background of the project and their requirements it has been found that without the help of the proper project management tool a project cannot be implemented successfully. It is the role of the project managers to apply the necessary project management software to lead the project towards massive success. Currently, it is almost impossible to management any project without the help of proper application software. The functionalities of the application project management software include panning, tracking, measuring, reporting. At the very project planning phase the project manager needs to take all those actions necessary for to activate the project activities. The timeframe, timeliness, total duration, priorities and deadlines are the most important factors those are developed in the phase of project planning. Besides cost and time the other things that the project managers are responsible to built include resource management, priority management and control management. For the case scenario of BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling, the project manager fails to formulate and evaluate all the necessary aspects thus they are unable to meet the project objectives. If these approaches would have managed accordingly the project would have never failed. Though, the project manager considers some of the project application tools but still they fails to adopt all the necessary application tools and techniques. Moreover, it can be said that project management application tool allows the project managers to develop the project report and the review it.

Conclusion
‘From the overall discussion it can be concluded utilization of the project management standards is very much helpful for the successful implementation of any project. If all the project manager tools and techniques are appropriately used by the project managers then only the project manager will be able to meet the project success. Managing a project is nit the responsibility of the project manager. Besides the project manager the rest of the project team members re also required to follow all the project standards. Execution of the project plan will eventually resolve the project level issues. In addition to this the rest of the management level actions those are required to be managed by the project team members include the communication plan, resource management plan, changes management plan, action plan etc. The project objectives achievement can never be reached id all these standard aspects are not followed by the project managers. The ideal organizational assets must be properly used by the project managers to cater and arrange all the factors. In addition to this, the project manager should also consider the
