Background
Presenter A suggests that the actual cause of the problem is that the Allentown’s fraternity has focused on working on as individuals but not as a team. They are actually focused on personal representation rather than team work. They are forgetting some of the key importance’s of working as a team. Evidence has shown that when people work together, they tend to learn from each other. He also suggests that the team should embrace a leadership style that is strong and well established so as to ensure maximum success of the organization (Ellet, 2007).
The presenter satisfactory addressed what, why and how the problem is presented. It indicated the disconnection between the upper management and the rest of the members (Marquis, 2018). This was extended to the divisions and departments. “How” presents the way the problem has been presented and it is indicated by Allentown’s departments not working as a cohesive team but rather working as individuals.
The presenter has suggested the question of embracing effective corporate communication.
The position statement and the possible causes fully suggest the solution to the problem. The presenter has suggested that effective communication provides a means of enhancing proper decision making and ensuring that the decisions made thereafter are in line with the mission, vision and values of the organization (Marquis, 2018).
The presenter should clearly explain the cause of the problem. He/she should provide a description on the cause and not just a statement as indicated in his/her presentation.
Presenter B addresses the issue of change and how it is difficult thing to manage and even much harder if it happens suddenly. This was however the case that Allentown Materials experienced the period when Rodgers took the vice president and general manager position immediately after the death of the previous one (Anderson, 2015).
The presenter was not detailed towards addressing what, what and how of the presented problem. He/she only addressed the issue and left out the why and the how. From the presentation, we see that the problem was only stated and it only focused on the what. The presenter suggested that most people believed that the causes of the conflicts were because the business was bad, but what he believed in was totally different (Ellet, 2007). He believed that the sudden changes and the speed at which they were happening were the key causes of the problems and why the business was bad.
Presenter A: Lack of Communication and Teamwork
The presenter has suggested embracing the change rather than avoiding it. He believes that Rodgers is a strong leader and he is capable of taking the organization through this change.
The position statement and the possible cause suggest a solution to the problem. The cause as stipulated there in was the sudden change (Ellet, 2007). This change was brought about by Rodgers getting into power. Well, the presenter goes a head into mentioning that embracing the change is the best way of solving the problem.
The presenter did not mention details. He/she only stated the cause of the problem. From the presentation, it has been mentioned that the cause was the sudden change and no further explanation has been provided to ascertain that. This should be included.
Presenter C mentions the issue of leadership. He mentions that Mr. Rodgers inherited the company that was doing so well, but time was changing and so did things. The previous leader Joe Bennet was respected and feared and the people believed in him. When Mr. Rodgers took over things changed (Ellet, 2007). He suggests that the quality of leadership was the primary cause of the problem.
The description on why and how of the presented problem is poor. The presenter only mention the issue of leadership as the cause of the problem and fails to get into details and give concrete explanations on the why and the how.
The question addressed by the presenter is that of leadership. All through the presentation it has been mentioned that leadership key to the problem. He mentions that leadership facilitates decision making and that when the wrong decisions are made then problems arises.
Leadership is defined as the ability to influence other people’s behavior and make them see things in a way that you see them. The presenter has brought about the issue of leadership in his presentation to suggest that indeed a solution to the problem is possible if the right leadership is in place.
The presenter should consider not only mentioning the strengths of the previous leader; he/she should also look into some of the strengths that Mr. Rodgers had. From the presentation, the focus has only been on the strengths of the previous leader.
