Love Story of Romeo and Juliet
Romeo and Juliet is a love story because the two characters have affection for each other that they never felt before until they saw each other. The story has a lot of examples of love, like in the ballroom where the Capulets host the party. In a scene, Juliet pulled Romeo to the hall out of the ballroom and kissed him. This gave us some proof of love before Romeo said “If I a profane with my unworthiest hand this holy shrine, the gentle sin in this: My lips, to blushing pilgrims, ready stand.
To smooth to rough touch with a tender kiss.”. (1.5.90-96) Another feeling of love is when the balcony scene happened, when he climbed up the balcony and told her some poetic lines from Shakespeare, that was “She speaks, Oh, speak again, bright angel. You are as glorious as an angel tonight. You shine above me, like a winged messenger from heaven who makes mortal men fall on their backs to look up at the sky, watching the angel walking on the clouds and sailing on the air.
”(2.2.22-34)
The ballroom scene is the epitome of a love story, when Romeo first spotted Juliet he said “Oh, she doth teach the torches to burn bright!
It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night, Like a rich Jewelin Ethiope’s ear, Beauty too rich for us, for earth too dear.So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows As yonder lady o’er her fellows shows.The measure done, I’ll watch her place of stand, and, touching hers, make blessèd my rude hand.
Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night.” (1.5.40-53) Also when Romeo kissed Juliet then asked the nurse who Juliet’s mother was because, he loved her so much that he wanted to see her more is another prime example. Then after that he left before things went bad in the party, but Juliet spotted Romeo leaving then asked the nurse who that was, and finally found out he was her enemy.
My second reason why the story was a love story is, the Balcony scene when Romeo went to Juliet’s balcony and started saying, “I take the thee at thy word. Call me but love, I’ll be new baptized. Henceforth I will never be Romeo” (2.2.51-54) As you can see Romeo said those words from his heart. My last example of why Romeo and Juliet is a love story is when Romeo killed himself, because of Juliet’s so called death (that was caused from the poison that killed Romeo) . She commited suicide from the lost of her beloved Romeo since he thought she died. Juliet says “Yea,noise? Then I will be breid. O happy dagger. This is thy sheath. There rust and let me die”. (5.3.182-184) After that she stabs herself and dies with Romeo.
Romeo and Juleit was a true love story from the day it was performed. In the Globe theater on 1595. Also how Shakespeare wrote the story and performed it. That is it, to talk about in the story Romeo and Juliet, love is a strong word that should not be played with.
