Importance of a Proper Supply Chain for Lusail’s Stadium in Qatar Project
The paper mainly reflects on “Lusail’s stadium in Qatar,” which has been selected as the venue for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The stadium is mainly located about 23 km north of Doha. The 80,000 seat Lusail stadium in Qatar will generally embody the ambition and passion of Qatar for sharing the culture of Arab with the world. The FIFA World Cup 2022 final will be staged with billions all around the globe watching on. The stadium will write a new page in the history of Qatar while paying proper homage to the rich past of the country as well as its region (Stadiumdb.com 2022). The project requires a proper supply chain so that it has all the required resources and types of equipment for undertaking the project, which further helps in improving competitiveness, increasing profits, and having proper control over the various factors as well as variables within the project. Additionally, the presence of an effective supply chain helps in reducing real costs, removes waste from the process, increases the certainty of out-turn costs as well as helps in delivering better underlying value to the client. Furthermore, the supply chain also helps in transporting the needed resources and materials for the project and further helps in eliminating the unnecessary expenses associated with insuring and shipping inventory.

While undertaking the Lusail’s stadium in Qatar project, the project managers identify that they require proper procurement knowledge in order to successfully undertake the work of the project. The Lusail stadium in Qatar project requires procurement in order to secure all the goods and services which are mainly required for undertaking the construction project quite successfully (Pheng 2018). It further helps the project managers to properly establish as well as maintain proper relationships with the vendors of the goods as well as services during the stadium project. The presence of proper goods and services generally provides the opportunity of undertaking the work of the project quite successfully (Rane, Narvel and Bhandarkar 2019). Effective management of procurement during a project generally helps in enabling an organization to successfully lower costs by successfully procuring supplies, services as well as contracts at the correct price, which is identified to be quite beneficial for the success of the project.
The project managers who are involved in the stadium project have proper knowledge in procurement then; they can utilize a proper systematic approach for evaluating vendors for supplying the organizations with proper goods, materials as well as services which further helps in managing relationships with the suppliers. Additionally, a proper relationship with the suppliers plays an important role in the success of the project as it helps in allowing individuals for the free flow of feedback as well as ideas (Fleming 2019). Moreover, if the project managers can be able to create a streamlined and effective supply chain, then it would create a positive impact on costs as well as customer service, which is identified to be crucial for the success of the project.
Effective Procurement Management for Project Success
The project managers with proper knowledge can be able to create a proper supervision contract which helps in setting out the content of all the discussions which will take place for establishing how the supervisors generally supervise the work together and effectively. It further focuses on the acquisition of knowledge, conceptualization as well as skills within the defined scope for undertaking the work of the project quite successfully (Shehu, Ibrahim and Inuwa 2019).
The application of both Agile as well as Lean strategic tools is required in order to undertake the Lusail’s Stadium Project. The application of agile strategic tools helps in breaking down the project delivery into very small as well as manageable parts such that the primary focus is on time management. Agile generally needs frequent reviews for improving financial management, specifically within the areas of profitability as well as productivity (Paul and Rahman 2018). The application of agile strategic tools also helps in promoting continuous collaboration among the project stakeholders, which helps the team members to work collaboratively on the Lusail’s Stadium Project by managing the issues and uncertainties that occurs during the project.
Additionally, the application of lean helps in reducing waste of materials, time as well as effort and further helps in generating the maximum possible amount of value during the project. Furthermore, it also helps in minimizing the downtime for the materials, equipment as well as information while rooting out different types of processes as well as inefficiencies so that the Lusail’s Stadium Project can be undertaken well and all the goals and objectives of the project would be successfully accomplished. Moreover, as Lusail’s Stadium Project is prepared for undertaking the FIFA tournament, it is necessary for the project team to maintain the event in a proper and effective way which is possible with the implementation of lean project management. With the successful application of lean, the project organizers can stand up to the expectation of the football fans and can be able to provide the best event in the entire world (Meng 2019).
Importance, challenges, and benefits of stakeholder engagement and risk register
The stakeholder engagement technique was used during Lusail’s Stadium Project in order to successfully plan policy or program for managing the procedure of engaging the key stakeholders. The main benefit of using a stakeholder engagement tool is that it helps in systematic identification, planning, analysis as well as the implementation of the actions that are mainly designed for influencing the stakeholders of the Lusail’s Stadium Project so that they work as per the roles and responsibilities assigned to them for accomplishing the project goals. The stakeholder engagement-based strategy helps in determining the requirements of the various key groups for successfully meeting them in order to increase their involvement within the project (Pedrini and Ferri 2019). The main challenge of using the stakeholder engagement tool is the presence of disparate data as well as opinions which makes it quite difficult to compare the merits of various ideas which are given by different stakeholders without proper data standardization. Furthermore, the organization that is undertaking Lusail’s Stadium Project can feel pressurized for satisfying the stakeholders by increasing their engagement or involvement in the project rather than focusing on the limited funds, people as well as equipment which is considered a major challenge (Xia et al. 2018).
The Role of Agile and Lean Strategic Tools in Lusail’s Stadium Project
While undertaking the Lusail’s Stadium Project, the project managers utilize a risk register for determining the risks that can impact the stadium project either positively or negatively for mitigating or minimizing the challenges of the negative risks. With the help of the risk register, the project manager, as well as other team members, gets detailed information about the risks that can impact the progress of the project so that they remain prepared for each risk and generally handles them well so that the progress of the project does not get impacted negatively (Prasanna et al. 2021). The main benefit of using a risk register in the Lusail’s Stadium Project is that the risk register helps in providing management, board as well as key stakeholders with proper information on the main risks that are mainly experienced by the organization. Furthermore, the project also experiences a few challenges due to the use of the risk register, including inaccurate impact and probability data of the risks. The impact and probability of each of the risks are based on assumption as well as experience, and thus it is not always possible to be accurate. As a result, the stakeholders involved in Lusail’s Stadium Project experience a few issues in managing the risks.
Impact of the challenges posed by change requests in construction project
When changes are asked within a construction project, then from the perspective of the project manager, a number of risks or challenges occur, which are quite difficult to manage. The first challenge that occurs due to a change is the increase in time and budget. Construction projects are big projects that require proper planning and management, and if a need for increasing time and budget arises, it becomes quite difficult to handle as it could have a negative impact on the entire project (Halou, Samin and Ahmad 2019). Secondly, due to changes, the chances of scope creep during construction increase which further creates a negative impact on the progress of the project. Scope creep during the project extends the project timeline, requires an additional budget and further helps in decreasing the quality of the project outcome. Further issues that occur include increased overhead expenses, wastage of materials due to rework as well as degradation of productivity due to material as well as equipment claim as well as disputes that mainly occurs between the client as well as the contractor. Sometimes the changed schedule and cost overrun that occur due to changes in the project because unmanageable, and as a result being a project manager, it becomes quite difficult to accomplish the work within the assumed time and budget that was elaborated initially in the project planning phase (Maali et al. 2020). Furthermore, the stakeholders also get demotivated, which affects their performance during the project, and it becomes quite difficult to motivate and encourage the project team to work on the changes in order to satisfy the client.
Conclusion
It can be concluded from the paper that Lusail’s Stadium Project will be undertaken successfully if the project team focuses on stakeholder management as well as risk management, as both of the practices are considered significant for the success of the project. Additionally, it is analyzed that it is quite necessary to have proper knowledge and skills regarding procurement management in order to successfully procure the goods and services that are mainly required during the progress of the project. Furthermore, it is also analyzed that both agile and lean strategic tools are applied within the Lusail’s Stadium Project to successfully manage the work of the project and for reducing waste, time as well as efforts related to the project. Moreover, the paper also discusses the significance of stakeholder engagement and risk register tool during the progress of the Lusail’s Stadium Project for successfully achieving the goals and objectives of the project. Lastly, proper discussion regarding the critical view of managing changes from the perspective of project managers is also discussed.
