Discussion
Discuss about the Ignorance In Revenge Attitudes And Behaviour.
As discussed by Canary and Canary (2014), interpersonal relationship refers to a strong association among the individual workers working within the same organization. Employees working together in a workplace are ought to share a special bond with the co-worker to deliver their best. It has been depicted to be important to be honest among each other for ensuring a healthy interpersonal relationship which will eventually lead to a positive ambience in the organization (Van Reemst and Fischer 2016).
The main discourse of the essay intends to interpret the variety of subtleties and complexities which ensures that organisations follows positive, ethical, and respectful interpersonal behaviour in the workplace. The important discussions of the study have been seen to be based on the depiction of the opinions whether it is feasible for an organization to allow the employees engaging in romantic and sexual relationships. The important nature of the discussions of the study are based on the interpretation of the cases considered which are depicted to be taking place within the organization. Some of the important discussions on the ways to maintain healthy interpersonal relationship in the workplace has been defined with the consideration of the important depictions which are seen with the different aspect such as managing relations, understand the feeling of others, cooperating with others, having a great attitude showing respect, appropriate contact, active listening. In addition to this, some of the ways to ensure that “all interpersonal relationships within the organisation are ‘positive, ethical, and respectful” has been ensured with flowing the employee code of conduct.
The first step towards ensuring “positive, ethical, and respectful” relationship has been considered with managing the relationship. In general, people spend lot of time with the co-workers for long hours. One can expect on an average of 40 hours or more in a week to ensure that the worker is having a good relationship with the co-workers. Maintain a good relationship with the co-workers will always ensure that the employees will be able to perform the work in a better way. In any context if there is any difficult co-worker or manager, it is always a good idea to remain polite and professional towards that person. It is always a better idea to confront with the person personally. This will make it easy for the co-worker to become a friend overtime. Some of the various types of the polices for the organization has been seen to be discerned in the form of the understudying the feelings of the others. The ability to understand the feelings of the other is referred as empathy. Maintain empathy within the workplace ensures developing strong relationships with the other people. In general, on understanding the various perspective of empathy helps to understand the feeling of the other worker. In situations, I will try to relate the feelings of others. I will convey the people about the various types of the incidents which are seen to be based on the telling them something important. Telling something important to the other person son grows a sense of comfort towards the other person. This has been seen to be conducive in building a respectful, ethical and positive behaviour (Ethics 2014).
I will also ensure that the workers are cooperating well with the other co-workers. This needs to be ensured with the consideration of the various types of the different incidents which are seen to be based on the considerations to make the employees remind that they have their individual tasks and goals. I will also remind them that the absence of cooperation among the each other will make the workplace unpleasant place to work and the company will not be able to succeed (Namjoshi 2016). In general, having a great attitude relates to coping up with the pressure and stress and become more flexible in the work. I will convey to the employees to avoid any negative thinking and complaining. Moreover, I will spend time with the employees who are having a positive attitude towards the work. Respect aspect needs to be ensured by showing respect to the other employees. When the co-workers are shown respect, it can be ensured that the employees will be able to maintain respect for the other employee as well. These are identified as some of the main from of the stepping stone towards maintain a healthy relationship with the co-worker (Leon-Perez et al. 2014).
Some of the other initiatives has been depicted in form of depicting the factors which determines the actions. The way people work will show whether people are comfortable around me. In marinating a healthy relationship with the co-worker it can be ensured that the workers will be able to get appropriate time for personal space as well (Da Silva João and Saldanha Portelada 2016).
At times, active listening is identified as the key to maintain heathy interpersonal relationship in a workplace. Active listening is identified as process in which an individual is focused on the person speaking. I will encourage the employees to talk upfront with the other employees and clarify any questions which they have in theory mind. The next one co-worker is talking to other worker it will ensure a good conversation and ensure that an amicable solution for any issue (Boon and Yoshimura 2014).
In order to ensure that the relationship among the workers is seen to be ethical in nature it is important to maintain an appropriate employee code of conduct in the organization which will be able to ensure that the workers are able to work according to the policies suggested in the code. I will articulate a policy which will encompass all the behavioural factors which aspire the employees and guides them to follow the path of showing respect to the other employee and also ensure that the employees are having respect for the other co-worker. Some of the various types of the main initiatives based on the this will be seen with the clear terms of the types of conduct which is permissible in a workplace. These policies will be very clear in the “Employee Code of Conduct document” (Ovayolu, Ovayolu and Karadag 2014). This code will act as the foundational elements which will conducive in suggesting the employees about the various types of the policies related to the expected behaviour and code of conduct. The employee code of conduct will further able to incorporate the various type pf the features which are seen to be associated to employee performance and assessment during employee appraisal. These policies will be able to ensure that the employees maintain positive, ethical, and respectful behaviour for better appraisals (C. N. Wathen, MacGregor and MacQuarrie 2016).
On the other side the employee code of conduct will also specify the limits to the interpersonal relationship engagement. These will be based on the interpretations of the various types of the factors which will be able to ensure that the values and the ethics are maintained appropriately. The policy will be having certain terms which ensure that the organization has zero tolerance policy for any kind sexual harassment and workplace abuse on the other employee. The values and the ethics should act as a standing point for identifying and mitigating the areas of issues. The code of conduct has been seen to be acting as an integral tool for ensuring “good operations, harmonious relations and ultimately, accomplish high levels of productivity and profit” which is always desired by an organisation (N. Wathen, MacGregor and MacQuarrie 2016).
Ethics is an essential and integral part that provides substantial amount of integrity to the growth of the organization. With the help of well-developed ethical structure of the organization an organization can reach to the zenith of success and on the other hand absence of the same can take it to the verge of destruction. From the various literatures it has been seen that the ethical consideration of different organizations are widely different from each other, however where they converges is the place that everyone must have one such protocol regarding ethics that the employees need to be followed. Managers of the firms are often less careful about the proper implementation of the ethical framework into the operational framework of the firm because of the fact that according to them it provides less benefit to the firm rather than providing focus on the other field of operation. What many managers’ fails to understand is that, ethical consideration is not only a part of the organization rather it is the pillar that holds and mature the same. Misconduct of single entity inside the firm can cause the overall corporate misconduct that can blow havoc to the organizational integrity as well as the performance of the firm in long run (Crane and Matten 2016).
Under the new organizational incentives and pressures with the few options for meeting the sales goal, many of the managerial decision has suffered due to the failure in management. Judgmental understand ability of the managers along with the legitimate preventive measure taken by the managers has faced broad array of criticism from the employees of the firm and the consumer ignorance has left the employees in a vast grey area. Considering the case of the Sears, it can be seen that the firm has announced that competition and the goal setting system of the organization has manifested an environment in which mistakes can occur and so does in the case of this. Latest sexual harassment in the firms like Sears, Uber and other international organizations has brought the popularity and fame of the firm to the lowest leading to fall in their revenue as well as the overall performance parameters. Under this scenario it has become essential to create such an working environment, where the employees can have a well fledged liberal place of performance that can not only fulfil the organizational goal while full filing the personal goal (Trevino and Nelson 2016).
It is a well-known fact that there is fragile relationship between the employer and the employee that can provide much amount of turbulence to the business performance of the firm as well as deteriorate the performance of the employee. Under this scenario if the fir introduce strict measurement regarding the ethical consideration that dictates the employees to keep distant relationship with their peer can affect the performance of the firm as well as the overall performance of the employees. However, if there is no ethical measurement in the firm, then the freeness of the firm can make the whole working environment a miserable place to work. considering the situation of the organizational structure of the hypothetical firm that want to ensure that all interpersonal relationships within your organization are ‘positive, ethical, and respectful’ it would be ideal to mention that the firm will go through the following ideas of working environment integration (Weiss 2014).
While many firms employ worker without formal employment agreements it makes the workers less interested about the ethical performance of the firms. Without any reason the firm terminates the employees and there are certain evidences that the firing decision is based on the discriminating preference of the whistle blowing. It makes the working environment dwindling and the employees face negativity in their occupational sector. This germinates the lack of respect for the superior and makes the workers indulge in unethical works that lead to disintegrate inside the working environment. Thus the firm that the researcher is concerned about will employ with the formal agreement of worker and ensure such a working environment, where the while blowers regarding the wrong doing will be safe guarded with the strict indemnity laws.
Recessionary situation leads to negative relationship between the workers and the firms. With the fall in the job, fear of losing job will eventually arise and under this scenario employees may opt for the unethical easements that can harm the integrity of the firm. Moreover, it can be seen that the operational performance of the employees tends to fall with the fall in the tasks. Under this scenario the firm will provide assurance regarding the job that will enhance the ethical performance of the employees ( Hoffman, Frederick and Schwartz 2014).
Lack of the ethical framework within the organizational structure entice the works to indulge them into the unethical works. Under the absence of ethical framework, and employee safety policies the employees became close with their peer that hamper the overall performance of the firm. In absence of policies that restrict the workers from indulging into the sexual relationship, employees become viable of unwanted pregnancy that cause the fall in labour hour and the overall performance of the firm. Under this scenario, the concern firm will ensure that there is strict measurement that abides the employees within the rule and constrains them from indulging into any sort of physical relationship within the office premise. It will ensure smooth performance of the firm and growth of the individual too.
As the effective measurement of ensuring positive, ethical, and respectful working environment, the firm will bring in the measurement like Zero Tolerance Policy. It will ensure that the workers keep a healthy relationship within the working environment of the firm and among the peers as well. Furthermore, it will ensure the operation of the firm, where the managerial performance and the working performance of the employees can be measurable under the certain parameters.
Conclusion
Some of the main depictions of the study has been able to ensure the “positive, ethical, and respectful” with managing relations, understand the feeling of others, cooperating with others, having a great attitude showing respect, appropriate contact, active listening. Some of the other considerations for the subtleties and complexities considering the interpersonal relationship within the workplace has been ensured with cooperating well with the other co-workers. This needs to be ensured with the consideration of the various types of the different incidents which are seen to be based on the considerations to make the employees remind that they have their individual tasks and goals. Some of the various types of the other initiatives has been based on active listening, which is identified as the key to maintain heathy interpersonal relationship in a workplace. Active listening is identified as process in which an individual is focused on the person speaking. In addition to formulation of the certain policies relating to the areas such as “Employee Code of Conduct document” which will act as the foundational elements which will conducive in suggesting the employees about the various types of the policies related to the expected behaviour and code of conduct. The employee code of conduct will further able to incorporate the various type pf the features which are seen to be associated to employee performance and assessment during employee appraisal. These policies will be able to ensure that the employees maintain positive, ethical, and respectful behaviour for better appraisals.
