CSR activities
Discuss about the Managing Sports Activities And Practices In Egypt.
Corporate social responsibility is one such activity which is equally important for a business for sustainable development and growth in an environment. There are plenty of ideas which have come up over time for contribution to CSR function. Every business has a job responsibility for which it contributes to the economy and society back. There are resources which are extracted from the various sections of society to run a business. So it is the duty of every business to return back the society in direct and indirect ways. There are corporations which are big and small but each of them plays a very significant role in contribution to economy and development of a country. There are plenty of fishes in the sea but choosing the nice and extra ordinary one is difficult and in same case, making choice for competitive advantage strategy for the business is very crucial and difficult (Elgammal, and Ghanem). This also raises the goodwill of a business as the organization is not only involved in making profit but also in many other social activities which are contributing to the nation development in terms of social terms.
Further there are activities of a business which are very specific and business oriented. There are very least businesses which are inclined to serve society as well because business’s main aim is to earn profit for the development and growth of business. Sections of societies expect a business to give back in terms of employment, economic growth and so on. There are new innovative ideas which are coming up to serve as a company in CSR activities. Hence, the business world also aims to stand out in these activities as well (Sharma and Kiran 95). It is a compulsion and demand of the current scenario to have an inclined business strategy which also helps the business to grow. To gain people and their trust a company has to equally contribute to the nation in the same way it is doing business. There are a huge lot of contribution activities which can be adopted by any business and they are listed in this study for a company so as to stand out in this section of function.
The below presented essay focuses on the concept of managing sports activities and practices in Egypt and coordinating sports with Corporate Social Responsibility. The Al Ahly Sporting Club has been chosen for this purpose. It was founded in Cairo on April 24, 1907. It is renowned for its football team which plays in the Egyptian Premier League. It is amongst the topmost sports clubs in the Egyptian Football league System.
Education as a source of CSR contribution
Any business can be self reliant and self contributed if it is performing well and there is the least requirement of support if a company really wants to give back to the nation. There are many ways for the contribution to society in several ways. Among which two activities has to be chosen for this research. The contribution of football club can be through a self reliant service and there are plenty and out of which education is the most important. Al Ahly Sporting Club can use education as source to make people educated about the business or the activities they are performing. As it is known that education once taken cannot be taken by anyone. So, the club can help people of the society to gain more and more knowledge about anything which they are putting up business. For this activity a business can organize campaigns and education fairs in which the students are taught how to imbibe education in their daily life. It will also help them to set their focus and aims in life. This will help the organization as a whole to come forward in real sense and interact with public with its professional teams. Since education is the backbone of each and every society in the world and many children are deprived of the basic education due to poverty and unawareness .So the application of CSR strategies in the field of school and professional education will establish a single window approach to align and facilitate the CSR activities with the education sector(Schwartz).
The club shall also help in enhancing the quality of education in terms of infrastructure, teachers and its affordability. It will ensure that children belonging to poor families are not denied of basic education. They should motivate the private schools and educational institutions to avoid over commercialization of education system.
For the children with special needs, the club has organized special classes and activities so that they can actively participate in the main stream of the society. The coaching classes have been conducted and they are taught through sports and game activities so that they can learn the concepts in a better way.
Scholarships and prizes shall also be given to the top performers to encourage them to do well in future. Special classes shall be organized for girl child, handicapped students and the orphans. They would be taught specifically to earn their living and would be given vocational training to enhance their creative skills (Du and Vieira 413).
Training and Employment as a self-reliant service
The club has also conducted special vocational classes for poor students of higher secondary so that they can enhance their creative skills and earn their living. As a part of its CSR responsibility, the club has adopted several schools and educational institutions. It has pledged to construct and renovate the school buildings, provide free notebooks and other stationary items to them and reward the meritorious students every year. It shall be spreading awareness about technical education and building counseling centers especially for the adolescent children (Edmans 1).
It is also providing training to the teachers and equipping the schools with sport coaches and necessary sports accessories. It has launched a campaign “Empowering through Education’. Under this campaign, it shall be running its various projects for several schools across the area. Its goal is to spread the awareness about education in the rural areas and give free educational assistance to the poor people and villagers (Melo and Morgado 11).
This will help the organization to develop relation with people in the society as well as a contribution of the company to the people it is serving by a different way of education. Education is the key and it is very long lasting and helps in development of nation by developing individual’s knowledge. Thus the role of CSR activities in the education sector is to diminish the skill gap by conducting experiments and inculcating the learning by doing method among the students.
The aim of the club is to pursue the growth of the children by innovative management techniques (Servaes and Tamayo 1045).
Second activity which an organization can be completely dependent upon and use for further societal contribution is that Al Ahly Sporting Club can employ and train the people who are very eager to work in the firm. The companies must make some or the other plans of recruiting people who have a passion to work but are unable to work because of the difficult procedures and requirements. So the business corporation must have a team who could train those people necessary skills which are required to work in the sector so that they can have an idea of working for the firm which may further help the people to make careers in the field and help the club as well. This will help the company to have human resource which is completely trained by company and which is cheaper than the resources that are trained. By this way the big companies would not miss out on people who are available to work for it but they are not able to get in contact due to some or the other problem. This is a contribution which can shape out career of person at the same time by providing a platform for the people who actually want to work for the company. This will further shape the youth and people for the nation who are capable of working for the nation (Garay and Font 329).
Conclusion
Hence, developing a strategic approach to employ the disabled people or people lacking the necessary skills under Corporate Social Responsibility makes the club enhance its corporate or brand reputation. Disabled people possess valuable skills and show their commitment and loyalty which cannot be surpassed. Through the employment of people lacking the necessary skills and training them and hiring the disabled people shall improve the morale of the staff and increase the reputation of the organization
Since access to employment has been identified as a fundamental human right in the United Nations Convention on Rights of Persons with disabilities , so the club has decide to align its CSR activities with the employment of the disabled people as well as people who lack necessary skills to do the job.
Since these people are considered as equal members in the society by the international institutions and are identified as significant groups of human diversity who have the right to employment. So, the integration of their rights should comprise of a significant part in the employment agenda of the club (Gilberthorpe and Banks 185).
Both of the above activities are breaking the need for support through any kind of governmental bodies. In other words requirement for the subsidies is less and in most of the cases it is not required. Hence, the need is justifiable and prompting that the education and all the employment trainings can be provided by the companies as a whole through its own self reliant behavior which is to serve the society through CSR activities. There are huge lots of companies which aim to do better than competition which is a matter of factor but has to be taken into account as unity so that all the companies can work for the development of society and nation as they are part of it before anything else. But in the greed to earn profit companies adopt means which impact the society which has to be avoided so as to develop the country as a whole by fair means of development of recreation of business for small as well as big firms. This is a huge contribution which a company makes to the economy and nation and is important for the nation. So, by this contribution the company would not require any kind of help from the government or any governed body. It can use its own development strategy for the society by contributing a lot of profit and efforts through the people who are working in it (Dahan, Sanje and Senol 95).
This is a type of solution which is most suitable as there is least requirement of any type of support which is to be given to the firm and the people who are associated with the club by any means. By all of this company will develop relations which will help in sustainable and long term development for the same which is very crucial and important in today’s scenario( Campbell 138).
The system which use to be there and which required the help of government for work and development is now not required as the companies are self sufficient with resources and they have to implement CSR activities in their working policies and cultures which will help to grow the society with company’s development. Both of the above exercises are breaking the requirement for help through any sort of legislative bodies. As such prerequisite for the endowments is less and in the majority of the cases it isn’t required ( Lim and Tsutsui 69).
There are many organizations which endeavor to improve the situation and aspire to work for the advancement of society and country as they are a part of it before whatever else (Yakovleva) .
This is a colossal commitment which an organization makes to the economy and country and is critical for the country. Along these lines, by this commitment the organization would not require any sort of assistance from the legislature or any represent body. It can utilize its own particular improvement technique for the general public by contributing a great deal of benefit and endeavors through the general population who are working in it (Hopkins).
The purpose of the activity is to serve the purpose of CSR activity which is to give back to the society by every possible means and solution so that there is a proper development and strategic growth of nation and its people. In this Al Ahly Sporting Club can support its business activities with the same purposeful CSR activities which are important for such large and huge operating business. It is important for every company to have some contribution to the society which will be possible on after these two activities for the people where the company is operating (Adeyanju and David 17).
Purpose of these activities is simple and very much inclined to give back to the society which is being fulfilled and is important for Al Ahly Sporting Club to grow in the activities and nation development. The motivation behind the action is to fill the need CSR action which is to offer back to the general public by each conceivable means and arrangement so that there is an appropriate advancement and vital development of country and its kin (Grayson and Hodges).
The education and employment of the disabled person and people who lack the necessary skills comprise of an important part of the CSR policies of the club. It has fully incorporated an inclusive culture and disability supportive culture in its work environment. The inclusive culture is a culture which extends beyond the formal presence of disabled people and is comprised of three elements viz. HR policies, universal design and workplace accommodation (Crane, Matten and Spence).
Through the recruitment and retention of disabled persons and people lacking necessary skills and integration of the policies into the actual practices of the club shall empower the culture of the organization which is supportive towards assisting and imbibing the disabled people in itself (Hilson 131).
For recruiting such people in the organization, the HR policies have paid much attention to the selection processes, interpersonal relationships, workplace accommodation, inculcating supportive culture and training and performance management mechanisms (Islam et al.).
Conclusion
In the limelight of the above executed analysis it has been inferred that the managing sports activities has been considered as a crucial task. Al Ahly Sporting Club is a sporting club in Egypt that has been supporting various forms of sorts and activities. The above essay is focused on the CSR programs and also the effectiveness of the programs is analyzed.
