Since I can remember I’ve always wanted to be in the health field. In my time spent in college I have observed many options to pursue a career in that field and it has led me to Business Administration, Healthcare Management. With this career path I will gain the skills and knowledge of the financial and operational management of any healthcare facility.
I want to be able to direct and solve any problems and take care day to day affairs in the office by using all the skills I learned in my business courses.
Becoming a healthcare manager you are in charge of making sure that everything is handled in your department. Duties to this job include making sure there are no misunderstandings and that everything is in order so that you ensure the best patient care. As management you are seeing a specific department and making sure things run smoothly.
As the number of hospitals grew, it became more and more apparent that there had to be some type of training program to prepare the individuals who were to manage and assume administrative responsibilities.
Thus, the first modern day “health systems management program” was born in 1934 at the University of Chicago.

Working as a healthcare administrator you are more so behind the scene, because of that it is very easy to not be aware of the importance of having someone making sure that the hospital facility is running smoothly. Not until the late 1800’s, hospitals didn’t really offer patient support due to not having enough money or knowledge. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $58,350, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $176,130.” This table lets us see that to get a position you will need a bachelor’s degree in that practice, which is 4 years in college. A lot of employers prefer a master’s degree and this would give you a higher chance on scoring a position, some actually might have you do a supervised position to gain experience. To land a position with this occupation you will need experience and skills to fit the need. In many cases you will need to handle financial situations, know how to plan out the day strategically, know the laws and ethical laws when dealing with human being and their health.

Medical and health services managers have to communicate policies and procedures to other health professionals as well as understand and follow current regulations and laws.
Medical and health services managers have to be detailed oriented they take part in scheduling and or billing information. That is why accounting and strategic planning is important. Like many managers in other jobs they are responsible for finding solutions to accommodate any patient if any problems occur. They are the one who set an example and must lead and motivate other employees in the facility.
