Insights (What new insights or learnings did you gain in discussion/ activity?)
Before reading the article/understanding the lesson, I thought
- Our cultures only affect our beliefs and virtues in a certain way.
However, reading the article/understanding the lesson, I now think/realize that
- Our culture, the environment we are in, and what we believe in shape our cognition, emotion, and motivation in ourselves.
Having or growing up in a different culture strongly influences a person’s individuality. The norms we got used to may be different to others depending on where we grew up, who we spend time with, and the environment we live in currently.
Before reading the article/understanding the lesson, I thought
- While we are understanding our physical and sexual self, we are not cautious in our surroundings hence our behavior at work or in school.
However, reading the article/understanding the lesson, I now think/realize
- That we need professional maturity as to understand the process of our personal development. By our age, we are preparing for our professional choices when we get older; beginning step by step processes with being consistent with the tasks of professional development specific to our age.
Before reading the article/understanding the lesson, I
- Never knew the difference of people in different social statuses, that there’s nothing entirely different with the way they live, just living in different environments.
However, reading the article/understanding the lesson, I now think/realize
- People with higher economic-psychological status have internal motives of professional activities while people with lower economic-psychological status, have higher material aspirations.

- What are other types of sexual communication?
- How does it affect an individual’s self-disclosure coming from a different culture?
