Research Question Description
Discuss about the Mixed Methodology on Governance Effectiveness in Nuclear Energy Corporation.
The research questions that is prepared in this paper is based on the theme of investigating the ability and importance of corporate governance in dealing with the risks in nuclear energy sector operations (Bahr 2014). The evaluation of the research questions is focused on explaining the objectives that are to be addressed in attaining suitable answers for these questions. The questions in this research includes analyzing the major threats of risks exposed within the nuclear sector within the energy sector of United Arab Emirates. The research questions will also include analyzing the current situation of corporate governance within the energy sector of United Arab Emirates and will also analyses the extent to which the risk governance strategies are effective in the nuclear energy sector (Bammer and Smithson 2012). The research questions these are developed in this research is also centered in analyzing the extent to which the general risk management strategies are implemented and adopted by the nuclear sector companies in the United Arab Emirates. The research questions considered to address the largest concern within the sphere of service and production provision is the considerable amount of related risk. The importance of dealing with these risks is immense as in great number of instances such risk management has resulted in the figure of certain business projects (Brunnengräber and Schreurs 2015). This serves as the entry point for the corporate governance role in dealing with the risk management properly for the reason that most business collapse are facilitated through corporate governance failure.
In addressing the research questions explained above the organization for Economic Co-operation along with Development reports the necessity of suitable governance for taking control of the risks related with any project carried out within the nuclear energy sector. The importance of the risk management within the country’s nuclear sector is present within the fact that it serves as among the potential sector whose successful implementation might facilitate United Arab Emirates address more than one fourth of its energy requirements (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault 2015). The research questions also focus on explaining the fact that for such reasons the risk management strategy implementation within the UAE nuclear sector is drastically growing with observed positive economic growth. The research questions those are set in this research are completely focused on the suitable data collection and analysis of insights from them that remains operative among the organizational employees. The research questions are focused on Emirates Nuclear Energy Commission and it facilitates Layman to attain a concentrated image of the energy sector within the country (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault 2015).
Description of Quantitative and Qualitative Methods
In carrying out research on the effectiveness of risk management within the nuclear energy sector of United Arab Emirates, mixed research methodology is selected. Considering the mixed research approach, self-administered questionnaire survey will develop the basis for investigation (Mertens 2014). Moreover, it will also facilitate in reaching the employees along with their perspective considerably by means of the responses considered by them. Mixed data collection method has also considered employing questionnaire survey technique through which the employees can be enquired and their perspective will be subsequently analyzed by means of responses made by them (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault 2015). Through questionnaire method the employees will be enquired regarding mainly on corporate governance and risk management practices that is in operation within nuclear energy sector of United Arab Emirates. Questionnaire method applied within the research will be focused several risks associated with operational, credit, audit, economic, financial, environmental, social and so on (Palinkas et al. 2015). The intentions of this qualitative research method will be focused on evacuating the responses in comparison to the efficiency of corporate governance exerted within the risk management.
The researcher within this expiration employed mixed research method approach through carrying out structured interviews that was relied on the close and open-ended questions (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault 2015). This research method has also focused on carrying out in-depth interviews with the survey participants within which the interview was carried out by means of open-ended questions in order to gather detailed information on the research topic. Considering the mixed research approach, stratified sampling technique will be employed that will consider approximately 100 people within al the strata along with the data gathered from the operational executive sources those are present regarding executive sources of nuclear energy sector of Abu Dhabi (Smith 2015). Through employing missed research method approach both primary and secondary data that develops the data collection basis. In mixed method quantitative as well as qualitative data has been gathered in explaining the risk management and corporate governance strategies followed within the Arab Emirates Nuclear Energy Sector.
Following the quantitative data collector aspect in applying mixed methods approach, primary data in this research has been gathered by means of interview carried out through the questionnaire (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault 2015). Moreover, secondary data will also be gathered in this research focused on qualitative aspect of the mixed research method. This has been carried out by means of newspapers, company reports along with several existing literatures. The secondary data collection method is focused on evaluating the recent corporate governance situation within the nuclear energy sector of United Arab Emirates (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault 2015). Quantitate data analysis process is also considered within implementation of mixed method approach in this research. Considering the same, analysis of gathered data was carried out by means of employing “Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS)” with increased focus on the statistical evaluation (Molina-Azorin, 2011). Such evaluation is focused on carrying out statistical analysis of the likely impact on corporate governance in recognizing, monitoring, managing and evaluating the risk management. Mixed research approach is explained in analyzing the importance of nuclear sector is undeniable as a power generation source within UAE. This facilitates in making it among the emerging industry within the national economy.
Description of Mixed Methods Methodology
Research methodology of mixed approach can be explained as a research carried out through employing both the quantitative as well as qualitative research techniques. Within the missed research approach and data analysis methodology relevant data was gathered, evaluated and integrated through using quantitative research methods as well as qualitative research approaches (McCusker and Gunaydin 2015). Quantitative methods are largely used through employing survey methods including structured and sampled survey as well as laboratory-based experiments. Qualitative methods on the other hand considers carrying out in-depth interviews that is also considered as key informative interviews, focus group discussions, life histories, case studies along with participants observations. Quantitative data that is used within the mixed approach that is considered as structured data which is also deemed as close-ended information gathered by means of rating scales, measure attitudes, checklists along with necessary observations (McKim 2017). Quantitative data is also employed in the research in order to test the exploration-based hypotheses and theory in order to maintain the validation of the assumptions. The data collection instrument that is widely employed within the quantitative data is considered to be the questionnaire.
In the approach of mixed data collection, qualitative data is explained as an information set that is gathered by means of open-ended questions within focus-group interviews, face-to-face interviews, observational notes within the field work along with descriptive notes explained within the case studies along with the participants life history (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault 2015). The researchers greatly consider implementing missed research approach in the exploration in order to attain enough data associated with the breadth and depth regarding the objectives and subject of the research. Methodology of mixed approach is implemented by the researchers in order to attain enough information associated with the depth and breadth of the topic along with the research objectives. Mixed research method approach facilitates the researchers to employ numerous sources of data collection for examining a process.
Mixed research methods can be explained as an aspect of triangulation among the research methods, primary data sources along with the researchers (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault 2015). There are few major research designs which are employed within the mixed methods research. They include sequential explanatory along with exploratory design, concurrent triangulation along with concurrent nested missed research approach. All the research deigns that are followed in following mixed research approach has certain weaknesses and strengths based on their applicability. It has also been evidenced that research design of concurrent triangulation is a type of mixed approach that is employed by the researchers in developing a detailed understanding on a research process, topic or cross validate the findings associated with quantitative or qualitative research. The researchers also focus on implementation of mixed research method through collaborating the research findings of the method with hep of several other research methods. Concurrent nested mixed research approach employs a single primary data collection phase and the researcher has defined a predominant technique (Mackey and Gass 2015). Such mixed research techniques can ether employ qualitative or quantitative research approach and it is incorporated within the predominant method that is explained by the researcher.
Mixed research approach is employed by the researchers in case they intend to validate the findings of the primary data collected by means of a single method along with implementation of alternative methods (Flick 2015). This can be explained through considering that primary data collection techniques by means of quantitative research methods that can be validated by means of qualitative research methods. In addition, findings associated with the primary data gathered can be validated by means of employing qualitative research techniques. In addition, the outcomes associated with primary data collection by means of qualitative research methods is likely to be validated by means of quantitative research methods. One of the major reasons, for which the missed research approach methodology is employed by the researchers is to focus on the research questions in order to attain unexpected outcomes by means of employing district angles (Heinonen 2011). This facilitates in attaining certain similarities as well as contradiction that could not be done through implementing a particular mixed method approach. For instance, the researchers employ qualitative research methods in order to deal with the limitations related with quantitative research methods that offers additional information on research questions for explaining related research details.
Another use of mixed methods methodology is observed at the time when the researchers explain research results or building on the research findings from several research methods. In case the researchers are attempting to explain the findings. Implementation of mixed methods facilitates the researchers go deeper and broader for understanding a process or explain the results devoid of dealing with boundaries of a particular research method. Along with the advantages related with the mixed methods and there are certain disadvantages related with the methodology of mixed method (Johnson, Onwuegbuzie and Turner 2017). The first disadvantage associated with the mixed methods is that the research design is complex to understand and another disadvantage is that the time needed in carrying out this method. The research design that is employed within the mixed methods takes a huge time in comparison to the planning along with within its implementation. Similarly, another disadvantage related with the mixed method includes the problem related with dealing with discretion within the interpretation. In addition, another disadvantage related with mixed methods serves as an issue in dealing with the discrepancies within the interpretation. In addition, the benefits related with mixed methods are more than its limitations. Moreover, the researcher employs methods of qualitative research in order to develop an innovative theory along with the quantitative methods for testing a specific theory (Lewis 2015). In addition, the researchers also employ mixed methods methodology in order to generalize all the reasechers outcomes. Mixed research method facilitates the researcher in generalizing the research findings carried out by means of qualitative methods. In employing mixed research method, if the researcher is involved within a causal relationship, qualitative research methods are implemented in the research.
The objective of the current research was to investigate the risk management strategies implemented by the nuclear energy corporations within the United Arab Emirates. Implementation of proper mixed research method has facilitated in analyzing the fact that the companies within the modern world operates in complex market and environment situations that are exposed to different types of threats and risks (Caron 2013). Management of such types of unanimities within the nuclear energy sector makes sure that they can be dealt with implementation of several methodical strategies. Risk management can be examined as a technique which encompass steps which recognize the issues within the operation along with making better prioterisng of risks. Implementation of mixed research methods indicate that the major intention of risk management is to offer scope related with uncertainty that can impact performance of nuclear energy corporations within the nation along with attaining business objectives. In analyzing the risks faced by the nuclear energy industry of United Arab Emirate, self-administrative questionnaire method was employed that formed the basis of exploration based on mixed research methods (Creswell and Creswell 2017). Implementation of such research strategy facilitated in gathering effective responses from the employees and supported in evaluating the responses made by them. Mixed research method facilitated in attaining effective research results through implementation of qualitative and quantitative research techniques. Implementation of this research technique has facilitated in attaining effective research outcomes which indicted that importance of the nuclear industry is not deniable as a power generation source that has made it most emerging industry within the economy.
Considering the advantages of mixed research methodology, this research method is considered to be implemented in exploring use of risk management and effectiveness of corporate governable within the nuclear energy industry of United Arab Emirates (Daniel, Cieslewicz and Pourjalali 2012). In investigating the same mixed research approach has been used in gathering relevant data by means of structured interviews, case studies as well as in-dept interviews. In addition, the gathered primary data for he research carried out on risk management in nuclear sector followed a survey or quantitative/qualitative interview that offers an in-depth explanation as well as statistics associated ith the research variables. Quantitative data that is used within the mixed approach that is considered as structured data which is also deemed as close-ended information gathered by means of rating scales, measure attitudes, checklists along with necessary observations. Quantitative data is also employed in the research in order to test the exploration-based hypotheses and theory in order to maintain the validation of the assumptions. Implementation of mixed research method has facilitated in offering vital details regarding the recent practices regarding corporate governance within nuclear energy sector along with analtsing the effectiveness within its risk management (Dillman, Smyth and Christian 2014). In order to attain a higher position within the company proposing for recommendations turned out to be simpler for attaining improvement within the operations of the organization. Mixed method research implementation has also facilitated in analyzing the risk management practices within nuclear energy sector that are also evaluated and they further contribute to the existing theory (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault 2015). Such research methodology has also facilitated in attaining support in making sure of the development along with presenting new approaches of improvement within the UAE nuclear sector.
