Motivation Theories: Maslow’s Need-Based Theory and Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory
1. a. Motivation is the reasons which makes the people acts or fulfil their desire and needs depending on the goal that is set by them. It is what inspires individuals to move towards a set direction and reach the final destination.
b. The two motivational theories that can help the employees of Sarahzz are Maslow’s Need based theory and Herzberg’s two-factor theory. The Maslow’s need theory states that there are five stages of needs which determine the motivation of an individual. The five stages are physiological needs, safety needs, social needs, self-esteem needs and self-actualization needs. On the other hand, Herzberg’s two factor theory states that there are two factors of motivation which are hygiene factors and motivators. These two model will help the team members of Sarahzz to determine if the change in the organisation is for their benefit or not.
2. a. The current structure of Fortson comprises of three levels which includes the general manager, underneath whom are four regional managers. Under each of these four regional managers are two line managers who look after their specific departments. The line managers have very less contact with each other.
b. Two other organisational structure that could be followed by Fortson are the firstly to have four levels instead of three which are the general manager, regional managers, branch managers and employees. Secondly, there could also be five levels such as general managers, regional managers, branch managers, department managers, employees.
c. From the above two solutions the second solution can have better results as each division will have focused jobs to do and thereby less complications about the job roles. Even though the levels are more but it could ensure better productivity.
3. a. Organisational culture is the behaviour or the values that are imbedded in an organisation’s environment and in the members of the organisation. The culture of an organisation includes their mission, vision, values and habits that are followed by every employee and the management.
b. The current organisational structure would create conflicts if the culture is not changed for the betterment of the employees. The long process of communication means that the employees would not be able to contact the higher authority immediately and therefore their grievances would take up a lot of time to be solved.
c. To create an ethical organisational culture, proper ethics training should be given to the employees along with the rewarding of the ethical acts that occur in the organisation and punishing those acts which are unethical so that the employees understand the seriousness of ethics in the workplace.

c. Franklin’s group is currently in the initial stage of forming since the group has been formed but they have not been able to understand the task and each other and reach the second stage.
