I was imprisoned several times during the pursuit of non-cooperation, and undertook a number of hunger strikes to protest the oppression of India’s poorer classes.
King: I was a baptist minister and social activist that led the civil rights movement in the United States from the mid-1950s until my death in 1968.
My leadership was fundamental to that movement’s success in ending the segregation of African Americans in the south and other parts of the US. Mandela: Well, I was a nationalist and the first black president of South Africa.
My negotiations in the early 1990s with the South African President, F.W. de Klerk, helped us end the country’s apartheid system of segregation. Me and de Klerk were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for our efforts.
