Operation Management at Google
Operation management can be stated about the fact that how the given organization can easily produce or deliver goods and service(Mohammadi, Soleymani and Mozafari 2014). It can easily provide a list of reason for its existence. An operation can be considered to be as one of the functions like personnel, marketing, and last finance in Google.
In the coming pages of the two major aspects has been taken into consideration that is operation management at Google. The second part method of improving operation management in Google. Apart from all this, a comparison has been provided regarding the 4Vs that is volume, variety, variation and lastly visibility.
The operation management of Google mainly requires various team members and goals. Currently, the organization makes use of 3 decision of operation management in various business activities (Keahey, Riteau and Timkovich 2017). In the domain of operation management, three decision areas need to be checked which is regarding the various activities needed for the contribution of organization structure. Product design at Google mainly refers to the design of goods and service area decision. Along with this, it checks other areas of operation management like quality management, the design of job and lastly human resources (Anvari-Moghaddam et al. 2016). By analyzing these three areas of operation management, Google can easily maintain proper and effective operation which is needed for satisfying the objectives.
Google can analyze the productivity of an organization by analyzing a certain number of criteria(Montalvo et al. 2017). The organization comes with various kind of operation which is needed for diversifying the products. The operation management at Google focus on a certain number of productivity criteria like
- Rate or speed of bug correction.
- Speed or rate of the stock out.
- Analyzing the rate of customers complaints.
The speed or rate of bug correction is mainly needed for measuring the overall productivity of Google personal which is involved in two phase that is the development of product and its maintenance (Propa, Banwet and Goswami 2015). This particular type of bugs is mainly analyzed or found in the various application. A speed of stockout can be easily referred to the productivity of Google personal which is there in a supply chain.
Quality management: This particular area of operation management is required can be applied on Google by the help of innovation, debugging and lastly iterative testing. It is mainly done by the help of the involvement of various users (Izquierdo et al. 2017). Both iterative testing and debugging can be used in the given organization that is Google so that the given products have minimum bugs. It is mainly done for analyzing errors when it is released into the market (Woo et al. 2016). Apart from this, Google on a frequent basis invites various users so that they can easily send reports to users. It is mainly done so that the given organization can easily improve the quality of the product.
Process and Design of Capacity: Google products like software which are web-based comes up with minimal consideration (Mohammadi, Mozafar and Solimani 2014). It is mainly done so that the company can maintain the same number of workers even if the demand for the given products has increased. Web-based software products can be easily distributed by the help of internet without creating any effect on HR capacity of the organization. Web-based software products can be easily distributed with the help of the internet (Sboui et al. 2016). The capacity design is mainly considered the conventional method of software development in Google. For the certain number of goods like Chromecast this particular area of decision that is operation management can easily create a much bigger impact. Google has applied process and design capacity with the help of contract manufacturing. Recently, Google has developed a smartphone named as Nexus, but it is mainly outsourcing the production to original equipment manufacturers(Copil, Truong and Dustdar, 2015). OEM mainly decide the s on the process and capacity design for the different products of Google. The design products at Google mainly requires the certain number of team members for the various products of the organization(Bahmani-Firouzi and Azizipanah-Abarghooee 2014). This particular area of decision is mainly applied to certain market research, forecasting and lastly proper trends. For example, this particular organization makes use of the forecast of future expectation of users (Zheng et al. 2017). It is mainly required for cutting shaped application for various platforms like desktop and mobile phones.
Product Design
Inventory management: In this particular area of operation management, Google makes use of different types of inventory(Mohammadi, Soleymani and Mozafari 2014). It is needed for understanding the need for this inventory in various businesses. The organization can easily make use of automation for properly controlling and monitoring the inventory. This type of automation can be seen when Google can manage the inventory of various software and web-based products. Operation function is considered to central part of an organization which comes up with some core products that revolves around the business (Bahmani-Firouzi and Azizipanah-Abarghooee 2014). For having an idea regarding the whole process of managing an individual need to have a better idea regarding the products under which the product revolves.
Operation management can be stated as the method by which business produce goods or service can be used for catering to the needs of the customer.
Volume: It is all about analyzing the number of products or service which can be complete or made by the given operation (Keahey, Riteau and Timkovich 2017). Operational volume is considered to be a key element which is needed for managed and profitability.
Variety: It can be referred to the range of software products which can be sold by Google to its customers (Anvari-Moghaddam et al. 2016). High variety is all about providing more flexible goods and products of software.
Variation: Variation dimension is all about relating to some of the external factors which can affect the demand level of a software product(Montalvo et al. 2017). Higher variation can easily result in the lower volume of product and services.
Visibility: Various individual can easily perform the production which is not generally exposed to a client (Propa, Banwet and Goswami 2015). It does not have any limited experience which encountered in dealing with the public.
For various business owners and related manager, the most vital aspect is to have the maximum possible outcome from their workers. The ultimate goal of Google is to increase overall productivity (Izquierdo et al. 2017). To analyze the present productivity level in Google, various managers are looking for ways which can be used for calculating the operation performance measurement. It helps in analyzing the fact that the given products are put out in an hour or similar methods for quantifying its productivity (Woo et al. 2016). If an individual is looking for the task, then the certain number of ways can be used for accomplishing the task.
- Google should create goals with its workers. Workers should start looking for more working hard if and only if they want to reach the goals for which they are working. It also workers to provide suggestion concerning goals and provide these goals in muchbetter location (Mohammadi, Mozafar and Solimani 2014). By doing, so one can easily remind about the fact which they are looking for.
- The individuallike the manager should listen to worker requirements. In many cases, it is seen that they lag in overall productivity which is needed for additional training (Sboui et al. 2016). If the workers or employees of Google encounter issues with a piece of equipment’s, then a proper workplace or technique should be used. It is mainly required for the proper training session, alarming them and provide a certain amount of knowledge which is needed for wrapping up the whole productivity.
- A proper training is mainly needed for the employees at Google. Apart from training, Google should offer incentives which areneeded for improving the overall productivity (Zheng et al. 2017). A little reward can be considered to be much beneficial one for the organization. If the employee can easily reach a certain goal, then they can be benefitted by pushing to work much harder.
- Employees of Google needs to be praised. Employees should be taken in for granted (Copil, Truong and Dustdar, 2015). Higher authorities or governing bodies at Google should appreciate the hard work of the employees.
Conclusion
From the above pages of the report, it can be stated that this report is all about operational management of Google. Three more important areas of operation that is quality, inventory management, and layout or design process have been discussed in details. After that 4V analysis has been done on Google that is volume, variety, variation, and last visibility has been done. The last section of the report mainly deals with methods for improving operational performance in Google. Operation function is considered to be a part of the organization which is devoted for delivery and production of various goods and services. It mainly highlights the fact all the means of organization aim in undertaking activities of operation. It is mainly done so that various organization can easily produce the certain number of goods and related services.
