The organizational behavior is the key aspect that studies the performance of the group of the employees and the individual employees in terms of the activities conducted by them within the business organization. As commented by DuBrin (2013), the organizational behavior is defined as the study of human behavior within the organizational settings. The organizational behavior provides an opportunity for the employees to improve them. In addition to, organizational behavior also helps the individuals to become a better manager by allowing them to identify and understand the reason of specific behavior of the employees. Better and improved behavior of the employees highlights improved behavior of the organization.
This report introduces about organizational behavior along with the changing environment of the business organizations continuously. The report also talks about the role of effective communication in managing people and organization. The impact of individual values, perceptions and reactions are also discussed in respect to organizational behavior. The motivating behavior of the teams and groups and its impact on the organizational behavior are also discussed.
Organizational behavior highlights the study of the business organizations and the people that forms the respective organizations. As commented by Chance (2013), the concept of organizational behavior highlights the study of human behavior within the organizational settings that includes the interface between the behavior of the individuals and the organizations. As a result, organizational behavior provides an opportunity to investigate the impact of the individual, groups and structure have on the behavior within the organizations for the purpose of applying knowledge aiming towards improving the organizational effectiveness. However, as argued by Pinder (2014), organizational is also defined as the study and application of knowledge about how people enact within the organization by combining humanity and technology. The business organizations that are able to implement the principles of organizational behavior successfully are able to achieve highly motivated and engaged employees whose goals are similar to the business strategy. This results in strong leadership and direction thereby, giving rise of better and effective bottom lines. The management functions of the organizational behavior includes planning, organizing, leading and controlling and the resources used by the managers to achieve it are humans, financial resources, physical resources and information Wagner and Hollenbeck (2014). Communication plays a key role in achieving the appropriate organizational behavior. Organizational behavior provides an opportunity for the business organizations to gain competitive advantage.
Management Functions of Organizational Behavior
The only constant thing the business organizations entertain is change. The business environment keeps on changing. This is due to to the increased diversity of the work place. As commented by Nelson and Quick (2013), keeping in the mind the diversified workplace, effective communication needs to be ensured. It is essential for the changing environment of the business organizations keep track of the changes. This can be done by ensuring effective communication in terms of spoken and written. As mentioned by Arvanitis and Loukis (2015), communication is one of the most important aspect that determines the success of the changing environment of the business organizations. Communication is vital to the business organizations, as this helps in coordinating the actions required for achieving the organizational goals successfully. Effective communication is advantageous for the business organizations as this prevents waste of money and time. The business organizations comprise employees that have different job roles and responsibilities. Effective communication within the business organization aim towards effective coordination, transmission and sharing of feelings and emotions thereby, ensuring the success of the respective organization.
Communication plays a significant role in managing people as well as the business organizations. As commented by Keyton et al. (2013), effective communication helps in clear flow of information among the managers and the employees. Having a huge and diversified work force makes it difficult to keep track of individual roles and responsibilities. Effective communication plays a crucial role in managing the people and the organization thereby, ensuring successful organizational behavior. The role of communication is impeccable in managing people because this provides an opportunity for employees to share information accurately. The clear flow of information within the business organizations saves time by restricting repetitive actions (Zhang and Venkatesh 2013).
In addition to, effective communication within the business organizations help in establishing clear roles and responsibilities. As a result, the individual employees are able to cascade required information to the fellow employees and divide job roles and responsibilities appropriately. This provides an opportunity for the business organization in achieving organizational goals and objectives successfully, as the people working within the organization have clear views of their roles and responsibilities. Also, effective communication helps in establishing positive relationship among the workers (Certo 2018).
As the work place highlights a diversified work force, the difference in the behavior and attitudes of the people in highly noticed. This is because of the distinctive nature and habit of the people working for the business organizations. As commented by Caroll (2015), communication is important, as the values, perceptions and reactions of the individual people working for the organization is different. Thus, it is important for the individual people to share their perspectives, values and reactions by communicating effectively. This also provides an opportunity for the business organizations to study the human nature of the people working for the organization. Effective communication allows the people to establish and develop positive relationship among them.
Communication in Organizational Behavior
In addition to, having personal communication between the employees provides better opportunity for sharing the values, perceptions and reactions of the employees. As a result, the people working for the organization do not build and develop bad image or impression about each other. As a result, a positive working environment is created that facilitates support and cooperation for each other thereby, highlighting positive organizational behavior (Lambert and Keogh 2014).
The pressure and nature of the work tends to demotivate the people working within the organizations thereby, hampering the organizational behavior. In addition to, the monotonous nature of the work in the organization also demotivates the people at certain instances. As commented by Hammersley and Reid (2014), effective communication provides an opportunity for the people working in the organization to share both personal and professional information without hesitation. As a result of effective communication, the people are able to share the issues both personal and professional without hesitation. For instance, effective communication provides an opportunity for the managers to ask the employees if they are facing any issues in the organization if the employees’ fails perform. Due to effective communication, the employees are also able to share their issues they go through in their professional and personal life freely. According to Kyllonen (2013), effective communication provides an opportunity to motivate the people in the organization thereby, improving the overall behavior of the organization.
Having a motivated work force helps in achieving the goals and objectives of the organization. This is because sharing and communicating the happiness and sadness of the people in the organization helps in effective motivation of the people.
The success of the overall organization is dependent on individual performance as well as the performance of the groups and the teams. As commented by Van Den Eertwegh et al. (2013), effective communication within the team or groups is of utmost significance, as this ensures clear flow of information. In order to achieve the organizational goals and objectives, the formation of groups and teams are evident. This is because having each other’s support derives better results for the business organizations. Each individual have distinctive roles and responsibilities within the group or the team. Thus, effective communication in the team helps in clear flow of information. Each individuals of the team have clear picture of their individual roles and responsibilities due to effective communication. In addition to, effective communication within the team minimizes the chances of conflicts. Conflicts in groups and teams are evident as the individuals working together have different nature (Njoroge and Yazdanifard 2014). Thus, effective communication in the groups and teams highlights successful organizational behavior.
The Changing Environment of Business Organizations

In this report, it can be concluded that communication plays a crucial role and highly influences the organizational behavior. Communication is the key process that determines the success of the business organization. This is because effective communication ensures clear flow of information thereby, saving cost and time of the organization by mitigating repetitive actions. The workplace consists of a diversified workforce with people having distinctive attitudes and characteristics. Communication provides an opportunity for the people with distinctive attitudes and habits share their perceptions, perspectives and actions. This mitigates the chances of conflicts and developing misconception about each other. In addition to, effective communication provides an opportunity to create positive working environment, as the people share and talk without hesitation. In addition to, effective communication also provides an opportunity to improve organizational behavior by motivating the people working for the business organization. This is because the monotonous nature of the work tends to demotivate the people thereby, declining the organizational behavior and performance. Effective communication also helps in mitigating as well as resolving the conflicts in teams or groups, as the people are able to share and share without any hesitation.
