Increasing Self-awareness
Self awareness is one of the most important aspects of an individual. It is very useful in the personal and the professional life as well. This helps the individuals in staying aware about the positive and the negative aspects of their personality. They can work accordingly for the improvement of their weakness and work for achieving the goals and objectives (Chowdhry & Dholakia, 2017).
Continue to increase self-awareness by deep thinking about your values and their influence on your life and career goals;
I always believe that self-awareness is one of the most important tools to find out my areas of strength and areas for improvement. I have seen this from my personal experience that I am very caring and emphatic in nature. I consider this to be one of my greatest strength. I cannot really keep myself distant whenever I see someone in pain. I follow this aspect in my workplace as well. I think that the employees or my teammates are not just present for the purpose of working or giving proper production to the company. I try my best to cater to their needs. Being their leader, it is my duty to make sure that their needs are being looked after. I am also very resilient. I try to maintain a proper mental strength and encourage my teammates even when there are some losses. I have to keep this in mind that if I do not keep up my moral strength then I will not be able to support my teammates during hours of need. However, there are also some areas of improvement. I am often very shy and I do not really open up easily with my teammates. This can be a major barrier for me. It is for this reason that my peers often feel that I am being very reserved and I am very unapproachable. I will have to work on this aspect and start overcoming my shyness. This will help me in being very friendly with the teammates. They will b able to make sure that they can approach me anytime they feel like and can talk with me regarding anything without any hesitation.
Identify critical gaps between your current capabilities or sphere of influence and your leadership aspirations;
There are certain gaps that I need to fill up if I have to develop my capabilities as a leader. I have always tried my level best to make sure that I can bring a change or a transformation within my teammates. I have been very inspired by the traits of the transformational leadership. It is for this reason that I need to work accordingly. I know that I often become very impatient and I am also of an introvert nature. However in order to be an able leader I have to be very friendly and very frank with my teammates or my followers. I have to talk to them freely and understand their problems. It is only after that I will be able to give them a proper solution to their problems. If I do not work on this matter right now then I will never be able to become an able leader. I will also try to work on my anger. I will try not to lose my anger so easily. I will make sure that I am being able to maintain my calm. I have to keep in mind that if I get angry very easily and behave roughly with my teammates then I will not be able to be there with them. I also do not believe in the applying the theory x of motivation given be Mc Gregor (Mwenda & Wachira, 2015). This theory had a very negative approach and this belief in exerting pressure on the teammates or the followers thinking that they do not like their work. I want to abide by theory Y. As per this theory, the leader will take a participative approach. If I want to satisfy these approaches then I will have to somehow fill these gaps. I have to work on them right from this day so that I do not fall back from my goals and aspirations in future (Sullivan, 2017).
Identifying Critical Gaps
Identify the influences of national and organizational cultures on your leadership perspectives and the implications for leading in different cultures
I have been influenced heavily by the national and the organizational cultures as well. I have seen that the kind of culture that is followed by the leaders in Australia is that of fellowship. In other words, the leaders always believe in walking side by side with their followers. The leader has to keep in mind that he has to be very kind and sympathetic with the followers. I make it a point to support my followers through all the thick and thin. I do not believe in making the undue use of my power and position. The concept of mateship is prevalent in Australia and I believe that it is the best possible way to lead you, followers (Holland & Wright, 2017). This is the best way by which I can make my team work properly. I will be able to develop a kind of transparency between myself and my teammates. I have been largely influenced by the good and healthy organizational culture, a good organizational culture is one where I will be able to make my teammates very motivated and energetic. I will always try my level best to inculcate a very healthy and strong organizational culture. I will make it a point that I am imbibing all the healthy values within the employees (Pack 2016). However, I will also train my teammates accordingly if we are to do some business dealing in other countries like Japan. The Japanese people are very calm and punctual. They also do not like much physical touch like a handshake or hug even if they are a sign of appreciation. So, being a leader it is my duty to train my teammates as per the different international cultures. I will also take care of the fact that none of my teammates are getting bullied based on their culture or beliefs.
