Project Overview
Project management can be defined as the several aspects which come all together to manage a project. Project team is accountable to manage a project. Each team member has its defined role and responsibility which should be carried out in effective way so that the purpose for which the project is executed shall be achieved (Perry, 2011). As by defining the roles and responsibilities of the team members helps in minimizing the confusions and better productivity can be achieved through it. According to the case study, a project has to be commenced in order to establish a research centre for social media. Top management has the responsibility to authorize a plan for the execution of project so that the research centre shall be established. David Wright who is the boss of company gave the responsibility of establishment of research centre to Mr Bruce. The project will be initiated in year 2017 and it is estimated that the project will be closed in year 2018. Activities which will be required to execute the project are planned so that proper execution could be done. Risk associated with the project has also been identified in order to mitigate those risk and to carry out the execution of project in effective way (Mosavi, 2014). Plan to manage the quality is also being developed so that quality in the work process could be maintained in order to achieve objectives. A plan for managing and controlling the changes is also being considered in order to facilitate the change without creating difficulty in execution of project. As it is well known that change is a regular process if any change occurs under some circumstances then the change management plan will be implemented to cope with the change. Cost consideration will also be done so that higher cost shall not affect the project, expenses will be lessen and the financial risk will be analysed to complete the project within the budget (Mir, & Pinnington, 2014).

Gantt chart includes the critical path the outlined part in the red color shows the critical path in the project.
Gaining information related with the cost that is to be quoted for the project from project management companies is one of the most crucial aspects.
Project Management Company decides cost on the basis of time, labour required and the quality required for the project.
Assumptions:
It could be assumed that the contract was signed between the project Management Company and David Wright regarding the cost of the labour.
It could also be assumed that the contract included the clause that the inflation will not have any effect on the price that is being quoted by the project management company.
Known Known’s:
All the team members were included in the direct cost of the project
They were availed the fringe of 20% to work on the project (Mosavi, 2014).
Known Unknowns:
It is an unknown aspect that where did the indirect cost of the project was used by the sponsors.
Documentation of risk is important in order to analyse the risk and then plan can be developed to mitigate that risk. A number of risk factors associated with the research centre of social media`s project are stated below:
Risk classification |
Response to risk |
Intention |
Logical context |
Operational risk- There is risk identified in the operational activities of the undertaken project which can create hurdle in executing the business processes. |
To respond this type of risk it is important to make plan for minimizing or mitigating the risk. |
Main intention is to carry out the operational activities of business in smoother way. |
Likely |
It is being identified that there is enormous pressure on the senior executive and on other employees as well which can affect the business activities as the pressurized employee would not discharge their responsibilities and duty in proper way. |
Pressure on the executive must be minimized as well as training should be provided to them in order to make them capable to handle the pressure so that business activities shall not be getting affected. |
Intention is to create sound environment in the organization`s premises where all the employees shall enjoy their work which would lead to higher productivity. |
Likely |
Clear identity Of David’s unit is not assessed which can negatively impact on the company`s image and this can also put negative impact on the company`s stakeholders. In addition to this it is also analysed that output is comparatively lower than Australian University. |
The unit`s identity shall be clearly recognizable so that people`s attention could be drawn by it. |
Main intention is to create positive image of the company in the market. |
Less Likely |
Financial risk is also identified as the project requires huge finance and in case, if, the project fails then David would have to face loss. |
Proper plan to manage the project shall be developed as well as the available resources both monetary and human resources should be used properly. |
Intention is to mitigate the risk associated with finance and proper utilization of available fund so that benefits could be achieved. |
Likely.(Mir, & Pinnington, 2014) |
