Project Goals and Objectives
Question:
Discuss about the Project Management Training and Education.
This project depicts the necessity of implementing proper scope and time management approaches in St. Dismas Medical Centre, an urban nonprofit hospital which is facing significant decline in their admission. In the year of 1999, an advanced planning has been held to identify all the future opportunities. However, in order to gain success from the developed approaches the two main areas where the developers need to focus are time management and scope management. The goal and objectives of the project including the project scope statement are also elaborated in this report. Apart from this, in order to minimize the workload from the project resources they have developed a Work Breakdown Structure to segment the broad task into parts. For successful accomplishment of the project a proper schedule should be developed that is also elaborated in this report.
St. Dismas Medical Centre is currently facing major issues in their admission rate, in order to gain measurable profit from the competitive market, the company is willing to make refurbishment rather renovation of their building. The goal of the project is to bring functional and operational changes in their medical centre. It is expected that, if all of these activities are completed accordingly then, it will meet the assumptions and expected outcomes. The objectives for this particular project are as follows:
- To refurbish the office building within estimated time and budget
- To investigate requirements as well as timing for the applications with the Dept. of health for opening facility
- To investigate the software and other technology requirements for the residents
St. Dismas is assisting the living facility project for the medical centre. It is necessary for the project developer to focus on different aspects of building constructions. However, the project should be completed within estimated time and budget as well. Through conducting proper market survey, the project developer should consider all different crucial components. For this particular project the scopes are as follows:
- The List of new services to be served by the company will be analyzed and examined
- The project team will identify the different options those are necessary to facilitate the construction project
- For determining the level of medical requirements, the medical directors will design the assessment tools
- The social activities for the residents are prepared by the therapy manager
- Another scope for this project is to research on long term caring insurance requirements
In order to implement this particular project, a project team is prepared and based on the skills and knowledge tasks are assigned to the members. It is necessary for the project team members to serve their allotted job roles and responsibilities according to the requirements. The work Breakdown for this project is given below:
The chief Finance Officer (CFO), Chief Legal Council (CLC), marketing Vice President (VP) and the construction project manager every individual has represented the project plan. However, according to the project background an accurate project plan is needed to be prepared. In order to complete the project, the manager is responsible to develop a project schedule which defines the tasks and its respective time duration that is required to complete that particular activity. The resources associated to the project include: CFO, VP, Legal, project manager, HR are again responsible to complete individual those individual task within the estimated budget and time as well. The schedule developed for this project is demonstrated below:

Project network diagram is very much useful for planning and tracking any project. It represents the project starting date and finish data and also the current status of each activity. The network diagram for this particular project is illustrated below:
Conclusion
From the overall discussion it can be concluded that, if the project manager follows all the above rules then, the project will meet the requirement and assumed expectation of St. Dismas Medical Center project. The aim of the project was to construct new building with valuable interior design, decoration. Besides attractive construct advanced billing system was also evolved by the project developers to avoid the issues of less admission in the medical centre. In order to support the system accurately the project manager focused on technology and information system. The project is required to be cost as well as time effective which means that the project manger should focus on completing the task within estimated budget and time. A preliminary project plan has developed by the project developer. The finance manager considered a rough estimation to make sure that investment will bring potential outcome in terms of ROI for the developers.
