From all these ten modules I have selected the first module of introduction to the unit and communication process as this communication process become one of the bases of communication that will help me a lot in coming days. In other words, the paper will provide importance of choosing this module and apart from this it also provides a literature review of this communication process. Furthermore the essay will also discuss both intercultural and communication process because both these skills help me to develop my career goals in the future. Moreover, the essay will also provide information regarding the importance of choosing these communication process and intercultural communication skills for achieving my career goals in the future.
From all these weekly modules, I have considered that introduction to the unit and communication process is an important aspect that helps me a lot to achieve my career goals in the future. I have learned that good communication skill helps a person to improve their future career goals thus according to me this communication process will help me to achieve my aim in coming days. From this module I have gained that communication is considered as the heart of sustaining and coordinating solid content and professional life. In other words, I have also learned that connection is of different types like verbal, graphics and non-verbal mode of communication. In this module, I have gained knowledge about professional communication procedures that defines oral, written and visual communication that manly occur in the workplace. Hence according to my view, this module will help me to know all these communication factors and also its application in the workplace.
From this first weekly module I have also learned that all professional communication process follow a code of ethics and after knowing this, it becomes easier for me to use proper communication process in concerning the situation. It is seen that the lack of clear communication possesses some difficulties because the person sometimes interprets the messages differently (Purnell, 2018). Thus for reducing this difficulty, it is important for a person to know about the aspect of communicative interaction with the help of the theories of communication. Besides this, I have also gained that lack of proper communication sometimes often rise to mislead or leaving out of necessary information and thus according to my point of view it helps me to improve my communication skills in coming days. The module also helps me to know about the importance of good communication and a person can easily achieve their goals if they communicate freely with their superiors as well as their seniors.
Professional Communication Procedures and Ethical Communication
Also having excellent communication skills will help a person to quickly convey their thoughts or feelings to other persons without facing any problem (Brink, & Costigan, 2015). Hence after learning all these, I am cleared that proper communication will help an individual to express their understanding as well as feelings in front of other through both verbal and non-verbal mode of communication. In other words, I have also gained that correspondence is considered as the common link that mainly joins people together in a very general way. Also, it is also defined as the process of sending messages within an organizational context in a specific manner (Mironova, & Shevchenko, 2016). Thus I can say that communication process is considered to be an essential aspect that will help me to develop my career path in future to achieve my career goals.
From all these modules of effective business communication procedure I have concluded that the communication process is considered as one of the significant communication aspects as this skill help to achieve my career goals in coming days. According to the author Barnlund, (2017), all process communication follows a code of ethics and clear communication help a person to interpret the message clearly from another individual. The author also suggested that the aspect of commutative interaction often follows the different theories of communication. In other words, communication was considered as the link that eventually joins people together in a general fashion, and thus it was also known as the process of conveying messages within the organizational context in a specific manner.
In the words of Pesina, & Solonchak, (2014), communication was also referred to as the transmission of information through verbal and non-verbal sources concerning the behavioral changes of an individual. The author also stated that discussion also applies to the reciprocal creation of meaning in concerning to the normative judgment. The normative judgment factors mainly related to the degree which focusses upon the accuracy, success, and effectiveness of the communication context. In the opinion of Fogel, (2017), there are three types of communication goals are present among which one is identity, other is social, and the third one is instrumental goals.
The author stated that identity is the type of communication that define a person professional identity in front of others. In other words, social refers to the professional discussion of an individual in concerning to build and maintain relationships with superiors, subordinates, peers and other external people such as vendors or clients respectively (Senaratne, & Ruwanpura, 2016). Social interaction is an essential aspect of communication as it helps an individual to lead support, friendship, and assistance from their close ones. The instrumental goal is a type of communication process that happens through a specified manner. As stated by Finne, & Grönroos, (2017), there were four theories of communication, and these theories were interlinked with each other.
Importance of Good Communication: Verbal and Non-Verbal
The four theories of communication stated by this author were philosophical assumptions, explanations, concept, and principles. Philosophical assumptions were considered as the basics belief that mainly focuses on answering questions of existence, knowledge as well as values. In other words, explanations define as the theoretical context that develops the relationship between the concepts whereas concepts were considered as the building blocks of the theory that mainly highlighted the definitions as well as terms in a contextual matter (Zerfass, Ver?i?, & Volk, 2017). The author demonstrates that explanations were of two types causal and practical respectively. Casual explanations describe that one variables are the result or outcome of other whereas practical explanations focus on achieving a future state or goals. On the other hand, the principle is to define as the guideline that enables a person to identify a situation or an event and apply appropriate values to act on that situation.
As evaluated by Senaratne, & Ruwanpura, (2016), there was a various model of communication of which the transmission model of discussion was the important one that was invented by Shannon and Weaver in 1949. In this model various message was structured and all these messages contain codes in the form of visuals, music, non-verbal clues as well as in different language. The messages in this model were structured in various parts like channels, feedback, and noise (Teunissen et al., 2017). Channels were defines as the procedure by which messages were sent whereas feedback refers to the response of each message. In other words, noise defines the accounts of failed messages, and this was of three types such as mechanical noise, psychological noise, and semantic noise. The author suggested that this was one of the significant models of the communication process because it describes that most communication was a typical approach.
In the words of Avena-Koenigsberger, et al., (2018), another model of communication is the transaction model which states that conversation does not flow back and a person responds to a phenomenon, situation or environment in corresponding to the facts or arguments. According to this model, the discussion does not take place in a vacuum, but it occurs within a context, and this model also demonstrates the importance of this context. By this model, the author suggests that the background provides the interpretive frameworks in concerning to the meaning of communicative interaction. Besides this, the background will also offer the subjective qualities of an individual and other characteristics like emotions, personality, and experiences.
Models of Communication
In the opinion of Luo, & Zhong, (2015), culture is defined as an essential context of the communication process that is present in this transaction model. The author suggested that culture possess different values, attitudes, beliefs, rules as well as norms about both communicating and communication procedure respectively (Avena-Koenigsberger, Misic, & Sporns, 2018). Also, the author describes two modes of communication one is interpersonal and the other one intrapersonal method of the communication process. Intrapersonal communication refers to the internal conversations that mean sharing of personal thoughts, feelings, and emotions whereas interpersonal communications relate to the discussion with other people regarding some matter (Prasad, 2015). Hence it is clear that the communication process becomes consider as one of the essential aspects of communication skills that helpful for the work environment.
After reviewing all these modules, I have considered that communication process and cross-cultural communication skills are useful aspects that help me to set my career goals in the future. After learning both these communication skills, I am cleared that after five years I can see myself as an assistant manager of an IT company. From the communication process, I have gained that good communication skill will help a person to demonstrate their idea in front of others. Hence it will also help to portray my thoughts in front of my others and thereby I can say that it can help me a lot for developing my career goals in the coming days.
I can also say that communication helps me to interact with other without any hesitation and therefore it will also help me to overcome my shyness and I will demonstrate my feelings to others without facing any difficulty. In other words, cross-cultural communication skills help to communicate easily with people belonging to a different culture (Novik, & Podgórecki, 2015). Besides this, it also helps me express my feelings and thoughts to the people belonging to other religions, and I can even understand their feelings easily without having any problem. As I see myself as a manager after some years, so both these skills help me a lot to improve my communication skills in the coming days. Hence this will improve my communication skills which thereby help my juniors to interact with me without facing any problem quickly. Thus I can say that both this communication will help me to achieve my career goals in the future.
The paper concluded that communication process and cross-cultural communication skills both are considered as a significant aspect of communication that helps me to develop my career goals in the future. From the literature review, I have learned the importance of the communication process and its application in the work environment. Moreover, the essay also provides the significance of the communication process in effective business communication method and its use in developing my career goals in the future.
