The reflective essay will also focus on the comprehensive analysis of the need to cultivate the skills and attributes that are integral for the development of the future prospects. In order to justify the presence of the personal qualities in accentuating the various personal attributes, the essay will take into consideration the perspectives offered by the innumerable and relevant theories. In order to substantiate the claims and suppositions that shall be arrived, the essay will conjure and refer to the examples from the personal experience.
The Myer Briggs Type Indicator had helped in zeroing upon the two chief qualities. The type that has been agreed upon is the ENFP type that points to the presence of the ability of heightened perception. The personal strengths that have been discovered point towards the presence of the crucial faculty of comprehension. The first quality that is identified is the ability of exhibiting the trait of being insightful. I think that this allows the scope to exercise the power of discretion in gauging the various needs and shortcomings. According to theoretical perceptions, the quality of being ‘insightful’ opens many avenues. Holland had propounded six general traits that determine the behavior and qualities of individual (Wille et al. 2015). Among these traits, the trait of being Social can be related to the aspect of generating relevant insights. In order to be insightful, it is necessary to exhibit the trait of ‘understanding’. In addition to this, the theory of social learning also focusses on the idea that paying regular attention to the behavior of people can assist in the development of the faculty of being insightful. I think that this can accentuate the chances of succeeding at different avenues of life. Theories and conceptual models justify the fact that being insightful also assists in understanding the various aspects related to the personal self as well as of others. In addition this, the presence of this quality also ensures the adoption of precautionary measures in the innumerable insights. Allports’ trait theory also focusses on the aspect that says that extroversion is intricately related to understanding the prevalent energy of the surrounding people and environment (Hogan and Foster 2016). This can be related to the faculty of exhibiting insightful nature. Being insightful helps in gauging the ongoing dormant ideas.
Effectiveness of Personal Qualities using Relevant Theories
The second faculty that is identified is the quality of being enthusiastic and optimistic. The quality of ‘enthusiasm’ is intricately connected to the quality of being ‘optimistic’. The quality of being enthusiastic refers to the ability to express interest at any given situation. Eysenck’s theory of personality propagates the notion that the quality of being enthusiastic is reflective of the presence of the ability to indulging in extroversion (Matthews 2016). In addition to this, the theory propagated by Allport reflects the factor that the chief personality characteristics are the result of the intrinsic and inherent cognitive facilities and traits (Kandler, Zimmermann and McAdams 2014). Thus, it can be mentioned that the quality of being ‘enthusiastic’ and ‘optimist’ is the result of the inherent cognitive faculties. In addition to this, I think that this quality forms an integral role in the innumerable present as well as future endeavors.
A look at the relevant experience will unearth the relevance of these skills in relation to the activities and engagements. It was seen that during one of the group activities, I had been able to gauge the ongoing temperament and the conflicts in the group. Through the developed insights, I had been able to recognize the various factors. In addition to this, this had also assisted in developing the intrinsic abilities.
A closer look at my personal experience will reveal various facets related to the application of the faculty and attribute of being ‘enthusiastic’ and ‘insightful’. During one of the group activities in class, I had been a part of a group that was affected by internal rifts and challenges. It was quite challenging for me to segregate the differences and conflicting ideologies. I found it difficult to make the members agree upon a common perspective and idea. Due to the surge in the mutual differences amongst the members, it was challenging for me to collate as well as erase the differences in opinions. The event had started with verbal argument, paving the way for further complications. Recent studies are emblematic of the concept that internal conflicts in groups can act as impediment in the process of realization of the objectives and goals of the groups (Macpherson 2015).
In order to resolve the issue and conflicts, I had decided to determine the cause for the conflicts. Due to the presence of the attribute of being insightful, I was able to understand that the conflict was chiefly the result of clash of various age groups. While the senior members refused to agree to the terms of the junior members in the group, the juniors refused to express the perspectives after a point of time. Studies also reveal that exercising seniority as well as dominance by one group can lead to the creation of disruption in the smooth functioning of the team (Atewologun and Sealy 2014). The skill of being insightful is also related to the conception of ‘emotional intelligence’. This refers to the faculty of exhibiting sheer knowledge of emotions of the self as well as others (Lee and Chelladurai 2016). Due to the presence of the concept of ‘emotional intelligence’, I had been able to perceive the tension and the supposed solution to the problem. I had opted the means of expressing enthusiasm in motivating the younger members to express and voice their opinions about the topic. This had led to the younger members voicing their ideas despite the intervention by the senior and experienced members. In addition to this, I had also resolved to inculcate the quality of optimism to motivate the team members to understand as well as collate the perspective of each member. In a very positive and optimistic manner, I had endeavored to motivate the members to contribute to the generation of positive ideas towards the achievement of the group’s objectives.
Development of Employability Attributes
Analyzing the situation from the perspective of theory, it can be mentioned that analysis through the lens of locus of control perspective focusses on the notion of whether our central actions affect the consequences. In this case, it was seen that my locus of control was reflected upon the internal processes of the group. It had helped me to understand the result of the adopted actions. The adoption of techniques of optimism and perception had assisted in gauging the root of the problem, which in turn, was reflected in the consequences of the activities. The members of the group had resorted to resolve the issue by taking into consideration the perspective of each member. My approach to various challenges can be read in terms of the planned happenstance. Theoretically, this refers to the manner in which human beings react to the various unplanned incidents to overturn them into lessons (Yang et al. 2017). It was seen that I had reacted to the situation in a very positive manner, turning it into a lesson to learn about patience and enthusiasm.
Upon reflecting upon the incident, I had arrived at ideas that the situation could have been avoided if the group members would have indulged in proper communication after taking into consideration the emerging perspectives. It can also be said that the situation could have been avoided if I would have indulged in motivating the members from the very beginning. This would have erased the cases of further escalation of the issue and conflicts.
In the future, if such a situation arises, I can mention that I will endeavor to avoid the situation by incorporating enthusiastic and perceptive course of action to enable the smooth functioning of the various group activities. Studies project the idea that it is necessary to erase the cases of group differences to achieve the desired goals (Bittner and Leimeister 2014).
Further, the aspect of self-efficacy has also played an integral role in the resolution of the situation. Theoretical concepts of ‘self-efficacy’ refers to the practice of exhibiting belief in oneself and the activities to yield a substantial result or consequence (Newark, Elsässer and Stieglitz 2016). A closer look at the incident will reveal that I had exhibited the capability of self-efficacy, where I had believed in the effectiveness of the actions that I had chosen to incorporate. In fact, the actions had also yielded the supposed results in a proper manner. Further, the theoretical idea of self-esteem refers to the manner in which human beings exhibit the extent of the sense of self-worth (Orth and Robins 2014). In this activity, I had exhibited substantial level of self-worth, which had assisted in the proper decision-making processes. The presence of the value for the self is one of the most important areas of personality development that is reflected upon the future endeavors (Lee et al. 2014). Needless to say, this had assisted and accentuated my endeavors to resolve the surge in the various conflicts amidst the group. Thus, it can be mentioned that the various theoretical approaches had assisted in justifying the presence and importance of the various skills.
Role of Insights and Understanding in Personal Strengths
A closer look at the presence of my graduate employment qualities will unearth the fact that I possess the skills and qualities that are integral to accentuate the scope of employment. It has to be accepted that there are certain traits and qualities, whose presence can accentuate the chances of seizing an opportunity. It can be said that the skills that are relevant for garnering employment points to the professional skill set and capabilities. According to the opinion and theories of John Holland, the most important skill sets that are required for the graduate employability points towards the aspects of vocational personalities. The P-E theory is reflective of the fact that the performance of employees in a working environment is intricately related to the inherent personalities and attributes of the persons concerned (Wille and De Fruyt 2014). Therefore, it can be mentioned that for the better performance at the workplace, it is essential to cultivate and enhance the skills of enthusiasm as well as the insightful nature. The theory propounded by Eysenck is emblematic of the application of the tool of proper communication in the process of establishing connections. Therefore, the skill and practice of good communication is one of the most important characteristics. Graduate employability is chiefly based on the aspect of the presence of the skill of communication. The theoretical model of communication related to the dramatist method of communication by Kenneth Burke is reflective of the manner in which effective communication can be established by generating a close connection with the receiver of the message (McClure and Skwar 2015). Therefore, it can be mentioned that the skill of establishing connection with the receiver of messages can assist in impressing upon the interviewer about the ability to establish effective communication.
Upon reflecting, it is found that my personal qualities of exhibiting enthusiasm and optimism can assist in easing the process of employment at the graduate level. In addition to this, the quality of insightful nature will also act as a yardstick for selection and betterment of my future prospects.
In order to develop the faculty of proper interpersonal communication and dramatic form of communication, it is essential to indulge in relevant practices and activities. In order to ensure that comprehensive communication skills are incorporated and enhanced, it is crucial to incorporate the regular practice of skills. According to the opinion of Krumbolt’z four factors, the career development qualities point towards the amalgamation of personal traits and learning experience (Eidimtas and Juceviciene 2014). Taking into consideration this aspect, it can be mentioned that the theory can be applied to the development of the career prospects. In addition to this, it can also be mentioned that the future employment prospects can be improved with the inculcation of regular training.
Enthusiasm and Optimism in Personal Qualities
In order to develop the faculty of planned happenstance, I shall involve in learning from the various happenings. Further, it is seen that I possess the quality of being enthusiastic and perceptive. I have learnt these qualities through my experiences in certain group activities and endeavors.
Conclusion
It can be concluded that the presence of personal qualities can assist in the betterment of the future prospects. In conclusion, it can be mentioned that the development of the inherent qualities are necessary to improve the prospects related to work. It can also be concluded that the personal qualities have been acquired through personal experience.
