Week 1: Applying system engineering for complex projects
This particular week is introducing of system thinking, system engineering, concept and tools for program and portfolio management system. I identified that implementation system creates of outputs and manages of informational flow. The weekly portfolios are discussing the relevance of the system thinking for protection, program as well as portfolio management involves of “systems engineering body of knowledge (SEBoK)”. This pper consists of total of 10 portfolios.
The week 1 portfolio describes about the how to apply of system engineering for organizing of complex projects and how helpful is system thinking to the project manager. The week discusses a relevance of the system thinking into the project, program as well as portfolio management involved with “systems engineering body of knowledge (SEBoK)”. I learned definition of the system, what is program and portfolio management. It is concluded that the proposed system is implemented as mix of the manual processes. The portfolio summarized on system thinking which have advantages into the project includes of identification as well as managing of threats. It enhances innovation into the project and facilities of responses towards faster changes. I learned about the system thinking tools and techniques prior to system thinking, how it is assisted the project manager to work. Those tools enhance the project manager to manage work scheme effectively.
In week 2, the provided topic discussed about the identification of various system thinking tools and techniques to aid the project managers for solving the project related problems. The system thinking is assisted of various tools and techniques which assist as well as inhibit the project manager to understand of the operational scheme. I learned about various tools and techniques such as conceptual model, matrix, affinity diagram and graphical analysis. There is also functional failure mode analysis as well as morphological box. Those tools help to manage and understand the project difficulties towards computer simulation models.
In week 3, the provided topic assessed of relevance of the system engineering to the project cases and from this unit learning materials, I understood the nature of the system into system engineering concepts. The system engineering enhances the organizational system by fulfilling requirements of the customers, design synthesis and validation of proposed system. It helps to make decisions, manages of risks, improves learning into the organization and employs the project manager to take proper project related decisions. The standard system is based on planning and controlling of the technical projects using engineering concepts. System engineering is fundamental towards the management as it enhances of skills and technical capabilities of the project manager. In addition to this, I understood importance towards portfolio relevance to the project cases in addition to workflow.
Week 2: System thinking tools and techniques for project managers
In week 4, the provided topic describes how the concepts and methodologies of system engineering help the project manager to organize the project work. The project methodologies are included of software engineering, assurance of quality; system engineering that is integrated to control and predict the lifestyle. The system engineering methodologies help the project manager to define and develop the project benefits such as maximize the system development. The project manager performs execution, ensures about completion of project work and reviews the entire project work. Alternative system solutions are designed and selected to meet with the project requirements and execute success towards the project. The system engineering methodologies solve the business related problems and implement of new system. The system must follow by means of designing and testing for project usability. The application of system approaches helps the project manager to identify problems in addition to project opportunities.
The week 5 describes about the importance of proper selection of the project management application system to view realization of project. The project selection factors is included of intuitive as well as collaborative nature, straightforwardness to show the data, consistency on the project updates in addition to competent to administer entire project lifecycle in addition to scalability. Based on the opinion of software vendor and software developer, it is imposed of operational database management with the support system. It is the responsibility of the project manager to take of project methodologies to solve of project related problems which is listed into the project as well as program business cases. It is reliant on majority of the factors which establish of usability in addition to understanding of the scheme as well as problem solving. Decision making is required to take of proper steps to manage the problems and issues.
The week 6 is discussed with describing the project, program as well as portfolio management application system that leads to better understand the knowledge along with decision making. Throughout this week learning materials, I analysed of the problems towards realization of the program along with application system for achieving of the project goals. PPPM aims to provide the organization with competitive edge over the organization’s market structure. It is focused on realization of results for getting of better performance. The recommended steps are required to realize of project goals and achieve of desired project outcomes which is included of creation of strategy which is relevant to the organizational objectives. Knowledge management system is needed to analyse of the tools which are needed for making progressing into the technical projects. It entails to make of decisions and does right things at proper moments with foundation based on delivering the product on time along with scope of finance.
Week 3: Relevance of system engineering to project cases
The week 7 is focused on comparing the merits as well as demerits of various manual as well as electronic PPPM application systems over the project lifecycle. I learned about the advantages and disadvantages of the PPPM systems and interfaces are central towards corporate system with relevant to the portfolios. Requirement of project lifecycle is witnessed into the scheme management as well as work system, stakeholders and portfolios. There is importance of the project lifecycle which is assured to plan before implementation of the scheme. There are two types of PPPM such as manual as well as electric. Manual PPPM is helping to make of decisions, minimize the risks, ensure of exploitation of the human resources. It also provides of value to the project stakeholders. There are disadvantages in manual PPPM in form of the speed to record making which is lower as well as time consuming as compared to electronic PPPM. There are accuracy along with reliability of the records by manual PPPM is one which can attract the higher doubts when it is reached level for considerations of the project planning.
The week 8 portfolio is based on identifying the PM application system which can assist of the project manager to monitor and manage changes into the project. I reflected on the project management application systems which are making changes and monitoring the performance of the system. There are required of change management which is required to get proper organizational outcomes as well as success. The change management does not manage changes by means of interventions as well as creations but it is adopted of strategies for making improvement. There is no such delay to monitor of the project performance. Monitoring of the performance of project is based on coordination problems, overturn of the project costs as well as conflict among the project resources and team members.
The week 9 portfolio is based on discussing and proposing of proper project management application system to support of the project execution. There are various elements of the program execution such as identification of the project milestones, breaking project milestones and purchasing of equipments required to achieve of the targets. There are also other elements such as allocation of the project tasks to the team members in area of expertise, tracking of the project progress for the team members and monitoring of the project expenditure and communication of the project progress to the stakeholders.
Week 4: Concepts and methodologies of system engineering for organizing project work
The week 10 and 11 portfolio is focused on the contemporary development with use of the project application systems that can analyse inventions in modern times. There is used of project management maturity model (PMMM) for development of the project management solutions for measuring maturity of the organization. The project management methodologies are used of the project phases and processes which define the project plan manage as well as closure of project work. There is continuous improvement into the project work so that there is improvement over time and breakthrough of the project which maximises the amount of work that the organization is capable in provided period.
Conclusion
It is concluded that the weekly topics are relevance of the system thinking into the project, program as well as portfolio management. It is involved with the “systems engineering body of knowledge (SEBoK)”, from which I learned about the system and its concepts into the project. The project work is interrelated with plans which are executable over the time period when expected by means of computer. There are various advantages of system thinking such as program and portfolio managements are included of identifying and managing of threats which are raised due to relationships.
