Research method used
The primary aim of this chapter is to getter a better idea of the methodologies that will be required in the process of research along with the various methods that will help in conducting the research in an appropriate manner. The study will also take in to account the responses from the samples. The researcher will be helpful in analyzing the datas so that the limitations can be reduced, which may arise during the research process. The main purpose of this study is to get valuable insights about the importance of the Decision Review System (DRS) in the world of cricket, which has helped in transforming the pattern of the game. The objectives that have been established in the research will be evaluated in a better manner with the help of questionnaires, which will be taken in to account to conduct the study (Mackey and Gass 2015). The quantitative method of study will be taken in to consideration so that the responses can be analyzed in a better manner along with the qualitative method in the process of research. The questionnaire sample will be distributed among 20 umpires and 50 amateur cricketers who are currently playing in the state level so that the responses can be collected in an effective manner.
The research method will be used in submitting the various datas, which has been collected in a proper manner and will be investigated thoroughly. The research study will be completed with the help of primary and secondary sources of data, which will help the researcher in conducting the study in an efficient manner (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault 2015). The data that is primary in nature will take in to consideration the interviews and the questionnaires that will be filled up by the participants for the research to be conducted where as the data that is secondary will help in gathering the information from the various books and journals that are available. It will also take in to account the websites that has helped the researcher in accessing the information related to the topic. The secondary source of data will help the researcher in getting better insights about the different concepts along with the techniques that is related to the topic. These datas have already been published by the various authors, which will be considered by the researcher (Glesne 2015).
This research method helped the researcher in dealing with the numbers or any other measurable quantities so that the process of investigation can be done in a systematic manner and identifies the relationship that is present with the topic.
Quantitative method
The process will help in measuring the data and executing it so that it will help in executing the data in a better way by the researcher. The data will be evaluated and analyzed through the figures and the data so that the variables can be measured and tested. This method also helps in testing the hypothesis, which has helped the researcher in authenticating the data and conducting the research in an empirical way (Brinkmann 2014).
The major strength of this method is that it helps in authenticating and evaluating the theories, which are already present so that the hypothesis can be tested, which will help in evaluating the level of reliability from the collected source of data. This method also has a weakness that the research will face during the conduction of the research process that is the researcher may overlook the phenomena that may take place due to the major focus on the theories (Flick 2015).
The qualitative research process is guided by the aims that have been taken in the process of research, which helps in relating to the methods in words. The size of the sample is smaller in nature and it is difficult to analyze the biasness of the researcher from the findings. The responses that are collected through this method helps in providing the information, which is detailed in nature along with the idea of the information regarding the topic. It helps the participants in forecasting the result of a particular situation by not conveying it in front of a live audience. The researcher is able to get in-depth information through this method along with the activities of the humans and measuring the reasons behind it (Silverman 2016).
The primary strength of this research method is that the information that is collected is free from the biasness of the observer and the reliability of the method is very strong. The information that is given through this method is very specific. The drawback of this method is that it is very much unreliable and the materials that are qualitative in nature need to be attached with the techniques, which needs to be submitted for the purpose of measurement (Smith 2015
The research process has been divided in to three basic categories, which are deductive, abductive and inductive. The deductive approach helps in inspecting the validity of the data, which has been collected so that it can test the validity of the assumptions. The abductive approach helps in defining the facts, which are shocking in nature along with the sequence that will help the researcher in exploring the facts that have been taken up for the study (Gast and Ledford 2014).
Qualitative method
The deductive approach will be taken in to consideration for this particular process of study so that the study can be conducted based on a set of hypothesis that will help in measuring the importance of Decision Review System (DRS) in the game of cricket. The objective of the researcher is to make it a point that the hypothesis is legal based on the data that has been collected for conducting the process of research. The result that will be manufactured from the different statistical tools will help in understanding the acceptance of the hypothesis and the statement that needs to be announced based on it. This approach will help in taking in to account the independent nature of the researcher, as the perception is inflexible and offers various alternatives in the explanations that are conducted for the research. This process of research is not based on developing any new theory, which is not the main aim of the researcher in this study. Thus, the researcher will not be taken the inductive method for the purpose of completing the study (Neuman and Robson 2014).
The method that is abductive in nature is also not appropriate for this process of research study, as it has to progress with the facts, which are comprehensive in nature and are not hypothetical in nature. The researcher needs to understand the topic by studying it thoroughly so that it can help him in reaching to a conclusion based on the facts that has been derived from the study. Thus, for conducting the study in an appropriate manner, the researcher has adopted the deductive style of approach. The availability of adequate information along with the use of the primary data will help the researcher in addressing the questions that have been taken up for the process of research in the first chapter (Tarone, Gass and Cohen 2013).
The design of the research process will help the researcher in outlining the total process that will be adopted for the research. The method of the research design will take in to consideration the factor of hypothesis, research question, methods of collecting the data and the analysis that needs to be done with the data. The researcher has adopted the experimental style of study for the research among the different styles that are present. The research has been done based on the explanatory type, which is the investigation of the hypothesis by the collection of the data and the relationship that is present among the variables (Humphries 2017). The questionnaire has been prepared by the researcher, which will be duly filled up by the participants in a discrete manner about the factor of Decision Review System and its importance in the field of cricket.
Research approach
The analysis of the data will be done by taking Excel in to account, which will help in establishing the relationship between DRS and its importance to the players, which will be done by taking the primary sources of data in to consideration. After the completion of the descriptive study, the use of the statistical analysis will help in evaluating the parameters that are present in the research topic. The nature of the data will be formal, as it had been collected on an instant manner, which will prevent the researcher from manipulating the data that has been collected (Leary 2016).
The process of research had started with the analysis of the quantitative data after which the use of qualitative analysis has been done, as the research process was gaining its momentum. The researcher used the data that he had collected so that he can come to a finite conclusion. The objectives that have been taken up for the research has been linked with the review of literature and the methodology of the research process so that it can help in achieving the desired result (Tuohy et al. 2013).

The use of the research onion will be considered for understanding the structure, which is dependent on the methodology.
The philosophy that is considered for the process of research is associated with the process of collecting the data and the method that will be used for evaluating the variables. It is also used for the development of the rational reasoning by the researcher. The options that are present in the philosophy will depend on the point of view of the researcher when the research is being conducted that is adopting the qualitative and/or quantitative approach. There are basically three type of research philosophy that can be used in the process of research that are namely positivism, realism and pragmatism (Bryman and Bell 2014).
The philosophy that is based on positivism is used by the researcher when considering the research of a bigger sample. The role of the researcher in using the positivism theory is limited only to the compilation of the data along with the exposition of the objectives with respect to the objectives and the apparent findings in the research. The positivism philosophy is dependent on the observations, which will help in breaking down the statistics. The theory of positivism is taken in to account through the theories that are existing so that the hypothesis factor can be developed in a better manner, which needs to be tested during the research (Choy 2014).
Research design
For this particular research study, the researcher had laid more emphasis on the qualitative as well as the quantitative data so that the research can be conducted in an easier manner. In the pragmatism philosophy, the question that has been taken up in the research process is the primary determinant for the research philosophy. The philosophy of pragmatism sometimes combines the interpretivism and the positivism theory within the research and the nature of research question that has been set up by researcher. It is to be noted that the pragmatists construct simple methods so that the research can be conducted based on a feasible manner (Matthews and Ross 2014).
The realism research philosophy will take in to consideration the reality design, which is dependent on the advancement of science for improving the knowledge of the researcher. for adopting the realism philosophy, the researcher has to focus his attention between the qualitative and quantitative methods of research (Wiek and Lang 2016).
This particular study of research will be based on the pragmatism philosophy, as it would help the researcher in taking in to account the qualitative and quantitative methods of research process. The outcome of the research has been based on the analysis of the statistics, which has helped in establishing a relationship between the Decision Review System and its importance in the game of cricket.
The process of data collection is based on two functionalities that help in assorting the data in a better manner. The research has to be conducted in a successful manner for which the researcher needs to collect the data in an honest way. Alternatively, the research that is conducted on a secondary manner will be done with the help of the data that are already established by the different authors. The primary research has been conducted on the basis of the survey method. The researcher can adopt any method in conducting the research process so that it can help him in arriving to a finite conclusion. The secondary data will be collected through the journal articles, newspapers and the official websites so that it can be presented by the researcher in a formatted manner (Roberts 2013).
The objectives of the research that has been set for this research will be considered through the contribution of the quantitative and the qualitative data. The researcher will use both of the datas so that it can help him in achieving the aims of the research. The primary data will be collected through the interviews of the umpires and the responses will be collected from the amateur cricketers for this research study (Gall, Gall and Borg 2014).
The secondary data collection process includes the study of the literatures through the various articles and the materials that are present in the journals, newspapers, magazines and websites so that the information can be recorded. The researcher will use the articles that are present in the Google Scholar and other authoritative libraries so that the information can be collected in a better manner. The sources and the information that are related to the decision review system in cricket have been taken in to consideration by the researcher (Luma et al. 2014).
It can be considered as the process that helps the researcher in getting the information from face-to-face conversations with the important personnel. The information can be obtained by the researcher if he conducts an interview with the umpires, which will help in getting insights about the review system. The process of interview helps the researcher in attaining the outcome that would help him in meeting the objectives that has been set in the research (Brinkmann 2014).
With respect to the interviews, the researcher may get biased with the opinions that are being given by the umpires, which may result in a different outcome for the research study. With the use of questionnaires, the researcher will be able to get the information that are unbiased in nature and will help in jotting down the reactions in a proper manner for the research. for this particular study, the researcher had provided the questionnaire to fifty (50) amateur cricketers so that their observations can be recorded and aligned with the objectives that were taken in the research study. This will help the researcher in attaining a finite conclusion and provide better recommendation at the end of the study (Choy 2014).
The sampling technique is divided in to non-probability and probability type of sampling. This research study will be based on non-probability sampling where the procedure for collecting the data will not be based on some individuals and an equal opportunity will be provided to the participants within a particular population. With respect to the sampling method, the non-probability sampling technique will help in the creation of random process of selection by the researcher (Matthews and Ross 2014).
This research will be conducted based on the purposive type of sampling method, which is the common form of data sampling. With respect to the purposive sampling, the samples that the researcher has collected will help in getting easy access so that the researcher can be selective in his manner (Choy 2014).
The researcher has abided by the policies and the etiquettes so that the research can be conducted in a proper manner. The researcher has been patient in conducting the interviews with the umpires, which has helped him in getting the correct information. The researcher has not forced the umpires in undertaking the process of interview, as some of them were busy with the match schedules. The process of research has been conducted in an unbiased manner and proper care has been taken so that the information of the participants does not get manipulated. The researcher has abided by the Data Protection Act, which may result in severe punishment if the information that has been provided by the participants is somehow leaked by the researcher.
