Topic and Research Question
In this worksheet you will create a substantial outline for your upcoming research paper. This worksheet will help you plan out and form the structure of your paper.
First, you will form the skeleton of the introduction paragraph of your paper by typing the answers to the below questions in red on this worksheet, in complete sentences.
Topic: What is the broad topic for your research paper (for example, vaccinations)? Why did you choose it?
Ans. The topic for the research paper is “Bullying at workplace.”
Bullying at workplace is chosen as a topic for the research paper as it is the most common issue identified at workplace. Performing any offensive/harassing activity (verbal/action) with any person at workplace is recognized as bullying. A victim of bully can be mentally or physically assaulted at workplace and this sometimes led to suicidal attempts by the victims.
Research Question: What is your research question (for example, “Should parents vaccinate their children and why or why not”)? What question about your topic will your paper answer?
Ans. The research question is “Impact of bullying at workplace and is it gender specific”?
“Is bullying stands as an assault in the workplace”.
“Are women more subject to bullying as compared to men”.
“How does the bullying at workplace does affects the victims both physically and mentally.”
“What contributes to workplace- related bullying?”

“Is there any anti-bullying right to stop bullying is implemented in the workplace to protect the employees.”
“What are the workplace policies implemented regarding bullying?”
“Does bullying leads to depression?”
Stakes: Why do your topic and research question matter to your readers? Why do your topic and research question matter to society?
Ans. It is important to make people aware about workplace bullying which stands as a major issue in the company. It helps the administrator and higher authority to know about what type of physical and mental assaults are going on with their employees in the workplace (Hoel, & et.al, 2020). Through this research paper, readers can have a clear picture as to what all elements leads to bullying and what actions can be taken against it.
The topic is important for the society as bullying leads to depression and can potentially inclines a person towards suicidal thoughts. Hence, it is important for the society to know that even workplace contributes to depression. Along with that it is important of the organizations to eradicate all the elements of bullying from their culture (Høgh, & et.al, 2021). The society includes various structures and thus it is vital for everyone to know the possible elements that contribute to the evil of bullying.
Thesis Statement: You will draft a thesis statement here, but it may change as you conduct your research and draft your paper. To build your thesis statement, follow this guideline:
Answer your research question and then include at least three supporting points within your thesis statement. The supporting points will be different headings or paragraphs within the body of your paper. Here is an example using the vaccination topic:
Why Workplace Bullying Matters to Society
Parents should vaccinate their children because, although some data indicates vaccinations cause autism, there is no hard evidence to support it. More children are dying each year from preventable diseases, and the cost for vaccinations is minimal or even free.
In the above thesis statement example your reader can see what your position is on the topic (parents should vaccinate), and which direction your paper will go (autism, deaths, and cost).
Now write your thesis statement:
Workplace bullying is a major issue and cannot be ignored in any case. It leads to anxiety, depression and can also force a person to make a suicide attempt. It is crucial that the organization must recognize the bullying behavior at workplace and must implement relevant policy to curb down bullying at workplace. The fact cannot be denied that people working in the toxic organizations are more likely to fall into depression. The suicide data is inclusive of the statistics of the people who have committed suicide because of bullying at workplace. So, relevant rules and regulations must be framed government alongside the policies by the organization to curb bullying immediately at workplace.
