Main Features of the Website
Web design can be referred to the term that encompasses through various disciplines and skills in the maintenance and production of websites. Authoring, graphic design, standardized codes, interface design and property design are the different areas of the website design. At time of reviewing a site, it is essential to consider overall features and design of the website and that has been done in this review.
The report consists of the review against the Telstra Media Website and some recommendation for the website. The owner of the website is the BigPond brand. The website holds an enormous amount of news. The site has a broad range of media such as video, NRL, music, entertainment, sport, AFL and SportsFan available. The home page of the site is not dynamic in design as all the contents can be found in one place. However, the pages that shows the complete news are well designed. Those pages contains videos and the color combination is also very good. Irrespective of the low amount of content that it uses, the site takes a little bit more time to load that expected. The amount of advertisement that it shows is very low in comparison with the other sites.
Logical Roadmap: The first that needs to be considered while reviewing a website is the logical roadmap of the site. The site allows the user to see the main news in the home page. More news can be accessed as per category. The site allows the user to login. If the user is not logged in then registration link can be found in the same page. The menu of the site contains, sky news, AFL, NRL, apple music and many more, are the service the site provides. Therefore, the user do not have to look for accessing the service anywhere, for all the services are available in the home page. If the user clicks on any news then a page with the complete information of the news opens. In this page, the user can also see the related news. This way the website makes the user stay longer. Some of the news articles contains interest links and some contains the YouTube videos as shown in figure 1. Therefore, in total the logical roadmap of the site is very strong.

Website Navigation: The users can easily navigate through the website. The site has a drawback in terms of navigation is that if the user clicks on a news article then only way to get back to the home page is clicking the backspace. It is because the articles that the Telstra Media features are from its different service sites. The advantage of this is that the user can access the services that Telstra Media offers without any extra effort.

If the user takes a long time in understanding the meaning of the content of or the icons then navigating through the site will be a very difficult thing. Considering this factor, the designers of the site made a great move by using only the familiar icons and contents.

Social Media Integration: Telstra Media do not use any social media for its homepage but the websites that are designed for providing services makes extensive use of the social media. The use of the social media integration has enhanced the interaction of the users with the website. There are particularly three things that website designers of Telstra Media has kept in mind. First, the website does not include any social media icon in the homepage, for this invites unwanted bugs and extra icon in every page. Second, the use of the social media icon within the page has been done very carefully. Third, there is no direct share button anywhere as the button themselves contains little advertisements.
Signup and Login Form: The enrollment frame and login shape is truly perfect, and the writings are very enormous as a matter of course which comprehends what is asked and with this huge writings, nobody can commit any error. Limitations have additionally been incorporated so that no wrong points of interest will be acknowledged or anybody attempting to give excess subtle elements for the join procedure. After the email has been entered, check will be sent to that enrolled mail id and simply in the wake of confirming the record will be actuated which is decent as it keeps the con artists away.

Notwithstanding that, the site needs to get a portion of the individual information so that on the off chance that the client overlooks his/her certifications, then the client can recover the subtle elements by approving the points of interest.
The positive aspects of the website are as following.
- Low amount of time to load
- Very good quality of content
- Understandable icons
- Consistency can be found in the site
- The feedback of the site is informative
- The quantity of the advertisement showed in the video is low
- The security is high
- Provides various services
- Good use of social media
The negative aspects of the site are as following.
- The home page includes all the information in one place without any subcategory
- The color combination of the site is very dull
- The maintenance of the site is infrequent
- The registration page cannot be directly opened
- The site responsive design of the site is not very good
Two participants have been chosen for reviewing the website. The first participant was my classmate who is twenty-one years old. My fellow classmate found the color combination of the site very dull. According to him, the site was not clear when he accessed it from his mobile. He also said that the site was not able to show all the functionalities properly.
The second participate was a twenty-eight old website designer. Acceding to the designer, the site lacked in many aspects of website designing. The site does not have a proper structure though the images of texts appears.
Providing Text Alternative: The website must include more images and videos in order to replace some of the texts. The site must consider the alternative paths for the texts. The texts that are essential for a article to be clear to the user, can be written on the images.
Recommendation
Responsive Web Design: Designing the site ‘in-browser’ will allow the site to be more responsive and the final output has the same effect of Photoshop and flat visuals. The use of CSS class is an effective way of designing the site. With the use of CSS file as an extension, the designer will be able to change the style of the site by changing the CSS only. Through defining the common UX patterns utilized throughout the Telstra Media site, pattern libraries can be developed. It will allow the web designer to gather all the element of the site into one place. A site is not only created for accessing from the computer or laptop. It must be responsive to all the screen sizes. An example of technology for making the site responsive through CSS is bootstrap. The use of the jump links will allow the user to go to the header or footer of the site easily.
Performance: There are various ways through which the performance of the web can be enhanced. The first one is to minimizing the HTTP request as much as possible. If the designer make the site enabled with browser caching then the performance will automatically increase. The CSS delivery must be optimized.
Use of White Space: This feature may be a subject of discomfort for few web users but it is an essential part of website design. In order to make the content of the site more legible and engaging the focus of the user on the elements that has surrounded the text, it is a great characteristic too use. The designers must find balance between the amount of content and whote space. As the site consists of too much of texts, the web designer need to identify the important elements for communicating at the top and use of space for surround that for highlighting the image.
Using Attractive Calls to Action: The users of Telstra Media website are already habituated to prioritize the content through visual cues that suits their need. Calls to action, marked with accomplishment word will be able to provide the power of navigating through the website. WUFOO, https://www.wufoo.com/, is a great example of god use of calls to action.
Use of Bullets: Bullets will empower the client to rapidly get all the data they need: benefits, ways you take care of their issue, and key elements of an item/administration, all in a short measure of time. This will make site’s suggestions more alluring and will empower the client to get all the data they require. Also website specialists don’t need to run the customary course with a straightforward circle.
Conclusion:
From the above study, it can be concluded that the website of Telstra Media is an impressive site with a lot of information in one place. However, it does not mean that the site does not require any modification. The site has not been tested for analyzing color-blind individual see. In order to convey information, the designer should use a great use of color. The designers have been avoided using colors as an attractive feature of site. The site has successfully integrated the affordance feature of the HCI principals. The users can easily understand what they can do in the site. There is a huge lack in consistency in the site. If the user clicks on a news article then it redirects the user to a new site (one of the website that provide Telstra Media service). This way the site never will be able to maintain consistency. The site shows no use of feedback. It does not send back information about what action has been done. This allows the user to continue the activity more swiftly.
