Jack Thompson Foundation has been playing a vital and crucial role in the development of the strategies those could be helpful in teaching the individuals about the aspects related to the sustainability and how it can be utilized in the project management. He had contributed in the spread of the education hat can incorporate the sustainability and housing buildings in manner to assure that the resources being available in the surroundings are enough for the development of the housing and allowing the individuals to lie on the same house.
These practices are helpful in managing the employments and the sustainability at the same instance and how these could be helpful in contributed in the economic development considering the present and the future aspects of the ongoing development and growth of the house buildings. Sustainability has become one of the concerning point for the world in manner to assure that the current practices do not harm the future with the pollution and left overs left by these practices (jonasson & Ingason, 2017). Sustainability in the project management emphasizes on the utilization of the resources those could be capable of delivering the outputs and the maintaining the sustainability of the environment. Professionalism can be a key in the project management practices in manner to allow the practices those could be helpful in promoting the sustainability in the present environment and condition of the real world.
The purpose of this report is to utilize the 21st century competencies and skills on the related case study and present a thorough research on how sustainable transformation can bring positive outcomes for the project managers and executives in Australia and deliver the effective and efficient delivery of the project.
Housing for the elders is one of the objectives of Jack Thompson who emphasizes on the sustainable environment, and respect of the elders and the case study explains a strategy for the construction of the housing for the elders. The technical specifications provided can be achieved through utilizing the available resources in manner to promote the sustainability. Case study highlights the available resources as “milling of local timber; stone in the form of iron stone i.e. the quarrying and cutting of stone for arches, columns and landscaping suitable earth materials for pressed earth bricks made on site, and knowledge transfer in bricklaying form work rendering trades. The use of sand and gravel found in the local creeks reduces the cost of concrete in remote locations.” These materials can be proposed as the best suited for the development and growth of the sustainable house building and allowing the elders to take shelter on the houses without any problem.
Competencies
Jack Thompson Foundation decides to build homes basically for Homeland Communities who live in North East Arnhem land. Jack Thompson Foundation has taken the responsibility to reduce the overcrowding issues and the issues related to poverty (Kerzner and Kerzner, 2017). The main motive of Jack Thompson Foundation is to build suitable homes for the Homeland communities. In this way the competencies for building the homes will get improved.
Jack Thompson Foundation has named the building materials the ‘living ground’. This approach will reduce the cost of the goods and the services supplied by the Eastern states. This will aid the people of Yolgnu. Jack Thompson Foundation is basically working to facilitate the life of the Yolgnu. They decide to carry out the housing project. The housing project consists of the following activities like the cutting of stone as well as arches (Heizer, 2016). After cutting down the stones and arches, they will build the suitable earth materials. Quality sand and gravels need to be applied. The basic foundation of the building can be completed successfully with the help of this approach. This approach will help in building the Homeland successfully for the natives.
Jack Thompson Foundation decides to build five homelands for accumulating the elders that do not have the family. There are five buildings constructed in every homeland. The Homeland will have the five bedsits of 10×7 meters. Thus a bedroom will be there along with a lounge. The Homeland will also have 4 meter veranda (Silvius Schipper & Van, 2017). The materials that have been taken into consideration for the building and the transformation are – cyclone rated timber roofs, pressed earth bricks (Silvus & Schipper, 2014). The gravels that have been found washed in creeks are the ones that need to be rebuilt or reconstructed. The entire building needs to be re-engineered and architecturally re-engineered. The homelands will have massive thermal mass performance tested architectures. Jack Thompson Foundation has planned to build the homes in accordance to the cultural beliefs as well. They have been planned to fence the construction area to restrict the waste water flow. This approach will reduce the spread of vulnerable diseases. All these transformation will aid to gain competencies regarding the project.
Transformation
At the semi-circle of the building there is a roofed area having 1.2 meter rammed earth walls. The walls are provided with an open fire pit at the center. Both on the northern side and the southern side of the building there are solid walls to the roof (Turner, 2016). There is a combination of both the pole frame and rammed roof. At the back of the Homeland building there will be a toilet block and there will be resident along with covered walkways in between. Generally the front doors and the back doors remain on the same direction however, there is a belief if both the front and the back doors are kept in similar direction, and the bad spirits enter the house and take the spirit of the loved ones. Thus they need to transform and implement the doors and the on the opposing walls.
The Homeland needs to be solar passive with the aid of the ventilated roofs. A 4-meter high ceiling has been built to diminish the heat flow of the building (Delos et al., 2015). They need to diminish the ramps on the entrances and that will aid the aged people. Jack Thompson Foundation will surround the bush tucker garden so that the food sources can be easily accessed.

Following are the competencies being applied in the context of this report emphasizing on the case study related to the housing and practices of sustainability in building the houses:
The very first competence will be the critical thinking that can be described as the “ability to design and manage projects, solve problems, and make effective decisions using a variety of tools and resources.” It allows the individuals and project managers to think broad and wide on a certain topic and issue and consider a large course of action that could be taken for the growth and development of the project (Crvalho & Rabechini, 2017). The real world problems related to the sustainability and utilization of the non-renewable sources have been very crucial for the professionalism of the project manager and the undergoing project. Critical thinking enhances the probability of the best decision-making and making happy the entire stakeholder group involved in the project assuring that the decisions being made within the project will not alter the objectives and ultimate goals of the project output. There are many resources those could be utilized by the professionals for the critical thinking about the housing being build and the management of the sustainability.
The next competence of this century is the communication that generally emphasizes on both the techniques of the listening and communicating in an effective and efficient manner (McPherson et al., 2016). This can be categorized in one of the most challenging task in adhering masters in the competencies as it needs various tools and techniques those could allow the professional and others to communicate and manipulate or motivate the individuals for gaining their favor of work and alternatively reflecting in the overall growth and development of the project. For building the sustainable house and motivating other stakeholders for contributing in the development of the housing for the elders through utilizing the available sustainable resources, communication can play very crucial role (Briere et al., 2015). Professionalism needs mastery in the field of communication and stating that the individuals are well convinced with the objectives and goals of the project and motivate the stakeholders towards accomplishing the project in successful and efficient manner.
The third competence highlights on the facts related to the collaboration and a professional needs to be collaborating with the team in manner to assure that every individual connected with the project delivers the efficient and effective output that can lead the project towards success. It is a skill of working within a group considering single scope and objectives and accomplishes all the necessary deliverables within the expected time (Arseth et al., 2017). “New skills and knowledge are necessary to enable team members to collaborate digitally and contribute to the collective knowledge base, whether working remotely or in a shared physical space.”
The fourth competence that could be utilized for the development of this project considering the sustainability includes the creativity and the innovation that emphasizes o the development and creation of the new ideas those could be utilized for the management of the sustainability of the project (Martens & Carvalho, 2017). Creativity and innovation will always be needed for the development of the housing using the resources those have been available within the environment for the development of the housing those can provide shelter to the elders. The professionalism can only be achieved through implementing the innovation and creativity within the project and managing the operational activities and the stakeholders within the project and assuring that the project meets the needed objectives and goals of the project. “Creativity is often described as the pursuit of new ideas, concepts, or products that meet a need in the world. Innovation contains elements of creativity and is often described as the realization of a new idea in order to make a useful contribution to a particular field.”
There are many ways in which the sustainable competences can be incorporated with the project management competencies resulting in the delivery of the efficient and effective delivery of the project and assuring that the matter of facts related to the sustainable environment has been fulfilled (Silvius, 2016). The needs of making different bedsits can help in the maintaining the decorum of the complex. The need of such are houses have become an acute thing as the number of the elderly people without family are increasing with days (Christodoulou, 2016). The residents in the housing complex must always follow the rules and the regulation of the complex in order to get the maximum of the services. The structure of the complex can help in the maintenance of the proper code of conduct. The use of the natural items in the construction is also a must do thing, as this helps in the maintained of the nature and reduce the risk of the natural calamities. Also it can help the organisation in the reducing the cost of the construction (Van Wee, 2015). The concept of the no door facing each other can help in the maintaining of the privacy.
The back door and the front door also must not face each other in order to reduce errors. The resident must also have internal understanding in between them for the betterment of the society (Evans, 2017).The poisonous cousin’s doors must not be at the same direction hence reducing the chances of any quarrel or loss. The use of the garden and the people cooking and the washing functions must be done in a joint manner to increase the chances of working together. The rules and the regulation must be followed by all including the guards and others. The structure of the complex can help a lot in the process of implementing proper code of ethics (Kaptein, 2017). The use of the opposing door can help residents to maintain proper individuality of the people. Other than this it can help in the process of maintaining the proper hygiene. The use of the walkways must also be covered in the code of ethics. Some of the major things that must be included are the –

Other than that the need of the doors and other such things can reduce the conflicts among the residents and hence maintaining the proper decorum in the complex. Building the Jack Thompson Foundation housing complex will also help in the resident’s to grow confidence among the residents. This can help the organisation in having proper profits and giving proper success.
The project management can lead to the successful delivery of the project however; Jack Thompson’s vision can be very appropriate in manner to meet the current demand of the situation and allowing the management of the project within Australia considering the sustainability and professionalism.
