Sequencing Activities and Their Relation to Each Other
The identification and documentation of scheduled work called as sequencing activities. These activities need to be completed in sequence. In the Hong Kong natural gas pipeline project also follows the sequencing activities which are co related to each other and on every stage being more or less completed before the next task can begin. Their relation also influences the scheduling process. In the process sequence are estimation of concept, planning of natural gas project, execution and implementation and monitor controlling are related to each other and any changes in one process will influence another (Hill, 2013,). For example, in this project due to waterfall methodology application, channel dredging process had to be finished before the pipeline could be laid, to meet its deadline.

The critical path analysis of natural gas pipelining project: – critical path analysis is the process of scheduling all necessary complex task in minimum time duration. As shown in figure for this project critical path is from except stages 7,19, and 35 all the other from stage 3 to 44 are consider as critical path means the change in one process will affect another. For example the activity 11 as project scope won’t be define until the before concept estimation process not complete. By this process the estimated time duration for completion of the natural gas pipeline project is 960 days (Ahern, Leavy and Byrne, 2014). The change in scheduled task will influence the processed activities and their time spam as well.
3. Costing Technique
As given scenario Hong Kong natural gas pipeline project is the biggest pipeline project and for estimation of the whole project cost project manager needs to apply cost estimation technique. There are many techniques but the Activity Based Costing (ABC) can apply for allocation of cost on activities of pipeline project (Sánchez, 2015). In this project, manager has used ABC technique for allocating cost on various main milestones of the project plan. For instance: cost of assessment activity is $43,360.00; cost of planning activity is $192,720 and monitoring and controlling activity has required the total cost of $35,600. Therefore, ABC is one of the best techniques for allocating optimum cost without any unexpected expenses for this big pipeline project.
4. Cost Element
Elements of cost: – Hong Kong natural gas pipeline project’s elements of cost are Material cost and labour cost. Project manager has used ABC technique for allocating cost and according to that material cost of the project $649999.99. This project consist material cost on equipment $100000, natural gas plan cost as $400000 and construction raw material cost is $149,999.99 (Sánchez, 2015). The labour cost of the project is $476960.01 which is applied on all the human resources connected with the project.
