The social workers is help those who encounter various difficulties and problems in social life. Through many circumstances, I have discovered that I sufficiently have the skills and abilities to help maneuver people through difficult situations and circumstances. I am the oldest child in my family, my two siblings very younger. I have help my siblings to finish homework when they in the elementary school. When my brother didn’t know how to do the math questions, I would explain the question to him and tried to help.
I will get my Bachelor of Psychology in Cuny of Hunter College in June 2019 and think the psychology can contribute to the development of social work. Learning never ends for me. I have always been thankful to the educational system for implanting values in me. Now I have an excellent opportunity to continue to take a more advanced course at Binghamton University. Eventually, I can enrich myself and bring myself to a high level of education.
I will be paying back and at the same time fulfil my desire of enhancing the society. By taking this great opportunity at Binghamton University, I can also continue to develop my professional career. I can use my knowledge to help people in society, so they can become better to serve society and to make the country wonderful.
I have a passion and enjoy the time when I helped people — my passion from my brother. I have two younger siblings, and one of my them has a speech and language deficiency.
He had special education and my family need to spend more time to discussion on how to improve his skills with school. I am served as a liaison between brother and teachers of his program, the teacher would communicate with my family, I would discuss progress and how to supplement his education at home. When my parent went to school to talk with the teacher, I also helped parents understand his needs and better to help my brother at school and home. It is imperative to my family because my parents don’t speak English, I am the only person to speak English, I am the only person can help my brother what his needs and how to improve through teacher conversation with me. It is an important part to help my brother didn’t need special education. I think my brother’s situation is the impetus for me to become a social worker.
