This essay will be explanations of spiritual mentoring, reflecting off my mentoring and or being mentored. These will be broken down into three parts that defines and explains spiritual mentoring, contemplate on mentors in my life, and I will discuss people that I am mentoring now. This paper will start with the definitions and explanations of spiritual mentoring. Talking about spiritual mentoring and friendship, the Bible contains quite a few examples of spiritual mentoring.
One example of this mentoring would be Paul serving as a spiritual mentor to Timothy as explained in the New Testament.
The book of Acts talks of Timothy having a special part in Paul’s ministry team Paul called Timothy his spiritual son in 1Timothy 1:2. Spiritual formation and discipleship is a community thing with others and is not just for one person’s benefit. This is a transformation of others to “make disciples of all nations” (Matt. 28:19).
Our future Christian leaders will need a mentor who will be able to provide supervision in the development of spiritual formation (Mayhue, 2011).
Christians seek out those they can monitor, in which this development of mentoring, which is effective in a Biblical discipleship representing Yashua’ own example of what His purpose is supposed to be (Mayhue, 2011). The mentors in my life have all been very knowledgeable and supportive in some of my struggles in this University. Next, the paper will talk how mentor’s reflecting in my life.
The two people that I wish to talk about is my wife and her sister, which is an Ordain Minister that has traveled overseas to help build people spiritual growth by introducing them to our precious Yashua for forgiveness.
My wife is special in her own ways like Barnabus and Paul in Acts 9, 11. In this case Barnabus (my wife), looks like an image of encouragement in my ministry, which can references in Acts 9:26-31;
Acts 11:19-26;
and Acts 14: 1-3.
Brenda, Dixie sister, is more like an experience moving library, nowledge that gives me a shove of ideas for a good ministry. I could also reflect on her mentoring as did Barnabus and Paul in their mission travels (Acts 9, 11). Barnabus compares to Brenda’s story where she starts off first in his (Michael) ministries, but Paul (I) back to his journey strong, and teaches from there. Brenda is helping me as a mentor by getting my teachings in line like ducks in a row. These two people stirred up the Yashua in me, and now He is with me forever. Mentoring other people helps me in my growth “in Yashua,” and this is because I am helping other people to get to their salvation. These mentors help me in my career progress, path to success, helping me look for insights and people that I know helps me in my steps to the future (Work with Mentor, (2009). There are only two people that you could say that I am a mentor to them is my wife and brother, which gives me the pleasure to use my University skills to fulfill Yahweh’ Word. Mentoring brings out my identity, which is strong in Yashua.
This verse in Romans 8:38-39 tells of my absolute security in the love of our Father through Yashua; being in Yashua likeness is like super conquerors and Yashua’ love will protect man from any such forces. In K. Philip and L. B. Hendry (2000) stated that the mentor working on people for whatever reason needs a good background check of the person’s problem, so they be steered in the right direction. The mentor needs to know, what is the problem with the person being your mentor?
How to attack the situation with Yahweh’ love, to defeat transgression against man for eternity is a good reason to be mentor.
Conclusion
This essay showed in examples and quotes from the Bible what and how spiritual mentoring is good for the soul and one’s I teach. There were reflections showing how mentors reflect in my lifestyle. On the flip side of the coin, mentoring from my point of view helps get connected with people, so, it may be a good experience for both parties. I believe that the main reasoning for Mentors is for people to look for Yashua in order to grow religiously.
