The Importance of Self-Analysis in Career Growth
Discuss about the Experimental Analysis Of Self-Persuasion.
Self-analysis is one of the most important traits that must be present within each and every individual. I feel honored to have this trait to me and I believe that this has been immensely helpful for my career. I will try to nourish my strengths and work upon my areas of weaknesses accordingly (Boamah & Laschinger, 2016).
I have graduated in the field of accounting from a well-known university and I have gained good knowledge in it. I have had my schooling from an Indian English medium school and I have a very good command over English. I have a very good communication skill. I am also very good at self-reflection and this will help me in finding out and dealing with the areas of my weakness. I believe that my choice of starting with the career in a mid-size firm will help me to gain more knowledge by the time I decide to shift in some other large-scale organization
One of the major physical cues is the inability to control my behavior in a proper way. I am a perfectionist by heart and I try my level best to do each and everything as per my plan. However, this does not always turn out to be true. I cannot often accept this and I become very angry and start behaving in a bad and unprofessional way. I have also often suffered losses due to the lack of proper time management skills. So, I will try my level best to make sure that I am not doing these mistakes again. If I do this, I can be assured that there will be no negative impacts on my career. I will have to practice to control all my emotions in a balanced way so that it does not affect my professional career. I will have to strike a proper balance between the perfection and the time management.
As a persona, I am very resilient. I know how to easily adapt to any tough situations. Being an International student has also taught me how to develop this quality of easily adjusting to any and every change. I also have a very good command over English. This will help me in dealing with so many different clients. I will be able to communicate with all of them freely. I do not hesitate while communicating with people as I am a good speaker. However, there are many negative aspects of my persona and I need to solve them. I often got very angry and I cannot keep control of my emotions. This is likely to have many bad aspects also. I cannot often bring in the right result even after proper planning. This mainly happens when there is mismanagement of my work schedules. I am not able to bring in the right result as I spend too much time on making it perfect and forget about the timeline (Deery & Jago, 2015).
Education, Strengths, and Weaknesses
The first tool that I will use is creating a good resume or a CV (Hutchins, 2016). I will take the help of my seniors or from the professional CV makers so that I have a good catchy CV at hand.
Next tool I will be using is the LinkedIn. I will be updating my profile over there as it will be very helpful to get noticed by the top-notch recruiters and companies.
I will also update my cv on job sites like Seek, Monster jobs and other such places. I will make sure that I am using proper settings that will help me to maintain the privacy. I will make sure that I am staying properly involved with all the connections. I have to keep a proper eye on their status updates as well. I must make sure that I am able to keep a proper connection with all the clients the past and the present ones. The other important thing that I will be maintaining is customizing the URL. This will help the clients and the other recruiters to be able to reach out to my profile very easily.
I will also write blogs on several ongoing topics so that I can get noticed by many companies or recruiters.
In addition to identifying the tools you will use for your promotion, you also need to identify how they will be used. It takes considerable effort to build and maintain some promotional mediums. For example, to build a LinkedIn network, you need to build your profile, build connections, gain references and actively share content as a mechanism for strengthening your connections. Writing a blog can take a considerable investment of time, effort and knowledge. Doing these things, therefore, requires an investment (time, effort, thought, skills), so it is useful to establish at the outset what sort of investment you’d like to make and thus, how you will use the available promotional tools (Egorova, 2014).
I will be investing a huge amount of time for studying any particular topic. It is after I finish studying that I will be able to acquire proper knowledge about it. I will be able to use this same amount of knowledge for the purpose of promotional activities. In other words, I will be investing a good amount of time in understanding any particular topic and then write a blog or a response on that topic (Lee & Cavanaugh, 2016).
Physical Cues and Resilience
I will regularly keep an eye on the upcoming jobs and the job requirements and update my cv accordingly on the job sites as well. I will be optimizing my LinkedIn profile so that there are better chances of being able to get noticed by the right people at the right time.
I will be adding the keywords that are matching with my careers like that of accounting, Griffith University, and others. I will be able to get the right connections only if my profile is incomplete so I will have to be alert to the fact that I am not leaving the profile halfway. I must be able to fill in the profile with all the necessary details and make it complete. I cannot take the risk of leaving my profile incomplete in such a platform like LinkedIn where all the professionals are active (Cho & Lam, 2017). I will also make sure that I am bringing in touch professionalism in all the comments that I make on the posts of my contacts.
I got to see my facebook account and my facebook images after typing my name and searching on Google. I believe that this is helpful for my career growth as it will help the recruiters to get some information about me. They can get to find me on facebook and can contact me as well (Fertik & Thompson, 2015).
I will hence make the same with my LinkedIn profile as well. I will try to be active over there and built my profile in a proper way and also get the good amount of references as well.
Visual image is the first thing that is seen by the recruiters. So, I will make sure that I am putting up a good picture as the profile display picture. I will also make sure that the cover letter is built in a proper way (Slone & Gaffney, 2016). The cover letter is something that will initially catch the view of the recruiters. So, I will make sure that the cover letter is constructed in a very good way (Quinton & Wilson, 2016).
It will take about around 2 years more to finish the degree in the year 2019 and then get the job of my choice in 2020. This is the temporary job in the mid-sized firm that I want to begin my career with. Then after enrolling and finishing my CPA course get the better job opportunity in the big firm in the year 2024 to 2025.
Tools for Career Growth Promotion
Though it is a long span it will really be very helpful for me as it will be giving me ample time and resources to develop a very good understanding about the professional field (Tremper, 2016).
I will get proper chance to meet with people who are experienced than me and they will be able to give me several good advice and tips on how to groom myself. I will also get ample time to prepare and enroll myself in the CPA course.
I have allowed myself a good span of 5 to 6 years. I believe that I need to prepare myself well for getting better opportunities for the future. I have seen that at this time, I will be able to prepare myself for all the challenges coming in front of me. I will gain sufficient experience both academically and professionally as well (Bem, 2017).
I will be able to attain a success over the LinkedIn profile I about a time of 3 months. As I am very new to this I actually do not have a good idea of maintaining the profile properly.
I will be finishing up my studies and then create my LinkedIn profile (Hutchins, 2016). So, I have to be very sure about the different kinds of settings that have to be used in here. I have seen that it was really taking a very long time to get noticed by the recruiters. I started seeing that some of my seniors and my co-workers were able to get a good result from the same app but I was not being able to get the same provided that we had to the same kind of qualification. Then I learned that one needs to be involved in all the activities going on LinkedIn. So I will be working on this weakness and will try stating very much involved in each and every activity that is taking place (Presnell, 2018).
I will also overcome the weakness of having a lack of security in the profile. I will be putting on a very tight security and privacy setting. I will also customize the profile so that it gets recognized within a time span of at least three months.
I can customize the profile so that it gets well recognized and I can try to keep my profile and my details are hidden from the hackers. I will see if I am being able to get noticed by all the recruiters at the right time.
Investing Time and Effort
I have to become more dynamic and I have to have a good grip on the subject. This will be possible only when I will be studying the subject from a large number of sources and in a proper way. I will also have to be patient as there are many tough and intricate time-consuming calculations that one has to make in accounting. I have to do all the calculations very calmly and I will make sure that I am not getting distracted. I will also maintain a balanced and controlled emotion in my office. I will have to keep a control over my anger. I will try to work in a very systematic and strategic manner.
My strategy will be to maintain my calm whenever I am about to undertake any tough calculations. Being an accountant I cannot get distracted as it will have huge negative consequences. If I feel that I am overburdened with work I will take a short leave and will refresh my mind a bit so that I can start the work afresh. I will also maintain a system of diary writing so that I can have a well-organized record of all the entries properly. I will take care that I am not making any mistake in that diary. I will maintain it properly. Being organized and systematic is one of the basic requirements of a successful accountant.
I will take some physical exercise classes that will help me to maintain my calm. Thus, I will not become angry over any critical matter that I might face in the work. I will also have to work upon the time management skills (Li & Hopfgartner, 2016). I will make sure that I am able to balance perfection and punctuality at the same time. I will not overlook the deadlines of the work only in the act of making it perfect.
Conclusion
So, it can be concluded that in order to have a bright career I need to bring some of the changes within my persona. These changes are to be carried on in the form of an action plan so that I can keep a proper track of the resources that I need to make these changes. All these will usually help me in the long run.
