The book “The Odyssey” is about Odysseus’ journey trying to get home after fighting in the Trojan war. On his way back his trip ended up being 10 years. While on his journey he made many stops along the way. A lot of his men died along the way and he was the only one left, he started with 630 men and he was the only one to survive. In the book, he helps his crew get through their stops.
I think Odysseus was a good leader because he tried his best to protect them from the things trying to hurt them.
They were the ones who didn’t listen to him and they ended up getting hurt. When they were with the lotus-eaters, the crew ate the lotus that made them forget that they needed to go home. He fought to make sure that they didn’t stay on the island. When the crew was in Scylla there was a six-headed monster attacking.
Instead of just hiding under the deck of the boat Odysseus helped fight to protect his crew.
Odysseus cares about his people and he only wanted what’s best for them. Odysseus was very smart and he came up with good plans that helped him get home. Even though he has his faults we all do. When he and his army were in the cave he came up with the plan to stab the cyclops in the eye. He made sure that they could still get out and stuff so that they’re not trapped.
It’s not Odysseus’ fault that Poseidon didn’t support his cause to go home. If Poseidon didn’t try to prevent him from going home then the ten years in between probably wouldn’t have happened. Odysseus thought of his crew as he thought of himself. He protected them like he would protect his family. The plans that Odysseus comes up with to get him and his crew home work out well showing that he’s smart.
Odysseus was so good at making plans, like the one he made to kill the people trying to marry Penelope. It takes a smart man to think of something that effective. He was a fearless man trying his best to get his crew home to their families. The way Odysseus adapted to what was happening around him really makes him look like a leader. He was able to think so quickly that helped keep his crew safe from harm. It’s obvious that Odysseus isn’t the perfect leader but that’s what makes him so normal. He was able to kill all those suitors for his wife. Doing something like that is something that takes courage.
Odysseus is always trying to make sure that his crew doesn’t do anything stupid, even though they do anyway. He tried to protect them from certain things that he knows are bad but they’re too stubborn to listen to his warnings.
