What is Virtual Reality?
The term virtual is apparently the essence of the effect but not in real facts while the world reality is something existing in an independent way either in real quality or even state? Virtual reality have can therefore be defined as the using of the computer technology in creating an environment that is simulated. Unlike what was used traditionally, virtual reality tech has placed the user inside the experience. In nowadays ways virtual reality one views using the screen in front of them where the users are always immersed and hence being to interact with the 3D worlds [1].
Another understanding of virtual reality is being considered as a replications of the real environment and users being simulated in their physical presence in the existing environment with the use of software’s and hardware’s [2]. The imagination and making sense in what we see to be real but not real in real life has come with a lot of implications to the normal way of life [3]. In understanding the virtual reality has been known there are five essential things to denote and keep in mind always. They are believable (illusion), it is very interactive meaning that one will have to move around, it is computer-generated, it is explorable and lastly it is that it is immersive meaning it is both interactive and believable. The above indicates why the virtual reality can alter the way we one psychologically think and therefore a health issue for misinterpreting it [4].
The essence of understanding how this has have implicated the life of human beings have come with a lot of pressure to the both social and health life. The reason for this study in this paper is understanding the dangers that have been caused by virtual reality technologies software’s such as creating domestic violence, sexual acts, and gender biasness among others. The understanding of virtual reality being taken as imagination of things that are not there. The topic of focus in this situation will be knowing the way the virtual reality has affected and limited the psychological way of human beings and how these has been mispresented by individual groups. The idea behind this understanding will be based on the human sensory limitations issues, the direct micro effect issues and lastly is the cyber sickness. The mentioned issues have been discussed in detail here below and how they have inflicted the health of the individuals by the way they interpret it in different views.
Replications of real environment in Virtual Reality
This issues are discussed in details from the explanation given below. The way this issues have escalated to the extent of harming the psychological life and much more inflicting the way we interpret it as human beings.
- Social Impacts issue.
There has been a lot of indications that have been raised concerning the negative influences caused by interacting with the VR environments towards the social life. Many users who are engaging in violence have been caused by the virtual reality video games and TV in the virtual world becoming so desentized to their virtual actions and mimicking that behavior in the real world. The other issues where people have turned back on the real world and wander round the synthetic worlds fulfilling their whims. Nowadays the violence in VR has been inevitable but the need to addressing this issues before they lead or result to a lot of harm or cause crisis that cannot be undone.
- Human Sensory Limitations
For any virtual systems to show some compatibility if used by users it will be then important for the designers to consider and understanding the constraints that it imposes to the human sensory and the motor physiology. Some of the physiological and perceptual issues directly impacting the design of such virtual reality systems are the auditory and visual perception, haptic, kinesthetic perception. [5]
Start with the human visual system which is said to be very sensitive to all anomalies that it may perceive in form of images hence becoming more prominent when motions are introduced in systems of VR. Localization have affected the audio perception as determining it using it intensity differences is hard and hence becoming a challenge.
- Direct Micro issue
Virtual reality has got all the power of affecting the brain of an individual that has led to a lot of psychological harms such as the feelings of being fatigues, some sicknesses like feeling dizziness and normal nausea. This has resulted to many VR users being prone to their tissues being affected.
- Cyber-Sickness issue.
This issue is form of motion sickness occurring due to one being exposed to the Virtual reality systems. This sickness has been ranging from slight headaches leading to an emetic response. Some of the several factors that have led to identification to what is contributing to it are such as the lag, vection and the field of view which is under research in identifying the causes of cyber-sickness and ways of alleviating them. There other consequences of using the virtual reality technologies exposure which might be indirect to human beings are such as the head-spinning, postural-ataxia, the idea of feeling like the is reduced eye-hand coordination and the vestibular disturbances [6].
- Content is Key
Five essential things to denote in Virtual Reality
The Term content is major here in the manner in virtual reality, when VR is stored in the brain I ways that may be seem to be strikingly similar to the reality in the experiences of the world. the greater the content may make it become more fun, educational and inspirational but sometimes if such contents is much more frightening , maybe violent and the anxiety that is provoking may cause one body to react physically which may lead to increase the heart rate and the blood pressure rise. In some individuals it might be very bad in that it may cause psychological problems which may be mitigated in the way we behave not by interpreting like causing anxiety fear [7] and sometimes causing post-traumatic stress disorder [8].
Virtual reality have affected our family and our social relationships in so many ways and the following are some of the dangers caused by the use of VR games and technologies to families and much more our social relationships [9]. The virtual reality porn games in reality can bring a lot of addictions and making one to be tempted to try things in reality that may lead to a relationship being destroyed.
VR have been on hand used for connecting people who are far away from each other and hence enhancing the social life. On the other hand the virtual reality games and technology has been known for increasing the alienation between families and hence a danger to the social relationships in the manner that individuals start escaping the reality as seeing being hard and this escape have been because of the VR existence. When we escape from the reality it may be fun when we are considerate and take little time on that, however when we take a lot of time we become addicted to it and ends up living only in virtual reality all the time [10].
From the findings that have been studied and researched in this paper is that Virtual reality is not bad but we should all be cautious on the harm it may cause to our brains and how this may affect you in the way you relate and consider things in the real world [11]. Another concept and recommendations that I would like to be put in to implementation will be users of virtual reality technology understanding the concepts of imaginations and not experimenting it in the real worlds [12].
Conclusion
In conclusion the understanding of the dangers caused by frequent use of these virtual reality games and software’s has been clearly brought about clearly as explained above. Some of the issues such as the cyber-sickness, limitations of human sensory system, auditory perceptions, direct macro and most of it all the social issues and how they have impacted the virtual reality world in terms of the health of the humans. The understanding of this concept to both adults and children as if it affects then it won’t chose an adult or a child.
