Importance of Managing Employee Behavior
Discuss about the Organization Behavior for Journal of Business Ethics.
It has been analyzed that employees are considered as an essential asset of the company. Without employees, it cannot be possible to conduct the activities and achieve goals and objectives. Worker’s behavior is linked to the response which employees give on a particular situation. There are several aspects which regulate the activities of a person in the workstation (Argyris, 2017). Employees behave in a different way at work and it is essential to ensure the behavior of the employees so that activities can be conducted in a right manner. It is the responsibility of the employees to manage the behavior of the employees in the workplace. Employees should behave in a proper and in a sensible manner not only to achieve appreciation and respect but also to create a positive environment in the workplace. It has been seen that office is not a place where a person can shout or spread rumors but it is important for the employees to be polite so that conflicts do not take place with the other employees of the company (Steingold, 2017).
It is important for the employees to give respect to each other so that positive environment can be created in the workplace. If an employee is harassing or speaking in a rude behavior then it is considered as an unethical act (Singh, 2017). It has been seen that behavior of the employees directly impacts on the overall activities conducted in the company. The behavior is also concerned with the overall satisfaction of job. In the present scenario, it can be analyzed that the company focuses on considering the level of satisfaction of the workers who are conducting the routine activities in the organization. If the workers are completing the task with high satisfaction level then it can be simple to increase the productivity. The employees who are not satisfied with the job can create many issues for a company to survive in the competitive environment.
The positive feeling is also related to the satisfaction of the job towards the activities assigned to them. To compete in the market it is essential for the company to emphasize on the overall level of the satisfaction. Dedication can also be seen if the employees are satisfied with the activities assigned to them. Also, when employees give their best towards the activities then development and profitability can easily be achieved (Memon et al., 2014).
Factors that Impact Employee Behavior
It has been seen that behavior in the company is also concerned with the individuals and the groups who are doing the activities in the company. It has seen that there many challenges that are tackled by the managers in context to managing the workers behavior.
The first factor is related to diversity. It has been seen that in the company there are many individuals. People who are conducting their activities belong from different backgrounds, culture, and age. The challenge which is faced is concerned with managing the diversity (Mostafa, Gould?Williams and Bottomley, 2015). Different people have different behavior and attitude towards the activities assigned by the company. Therefore, it has been seen that it create an issue for the company and also for the top management to manage and understand the behavior. By considering different behavior there are many issues that take place.
So, it is important that managers of the company should take accurate decisions by focusing on the problems of both the parties. It is essential that decisions which are given should be accurate and both parties should be happy and satisfied. When the employees of the company are satisfied then they give more contribution towards the activities of the company. If the overall contribution level enhances then it can be simple to achieve overall goals and objectives.
Next factor is related to ethics. In this, it has been analyzed that by considering the use of media the issues which take place in the company can easily reach to a large number of people in less time. The company also focuses on proper rules that are concerned with the ethical behavior in the company. The challenge for the company is to encourage the ethical behavior and also the culture within the company so that people do not focus on the interest of the individuals (Ruiz-Palomino and Martínez-Cañas, 2014). Employees Behavior is based on the rules of the company. It is essential for the company to focus on maintaining the organizational behavior so that workers can be happy in completing the tasks which are assigned to them (Moore et al., 2016).
Next factor is related to employee resistance. In this, it has been seen that it is one of the complex processes that the company faces. The employee resistance has given negative results on the activities which are initiated by the company. In many cases, resources are offered to the company so that employees can conduct the activities accordingly and achieve the desired goals and objectives. The change which takes place in the company affects the behavior of the employees (Certo, 2018). If change in the favor of the employee then it can be easy for them to conduct the activities but if change is not accepted by them then it can create negative behavior of the employees towards the activities implemented. So, it is essential to discuss the change with the employees so that employee’s resistance can be minimized and start accepting a change made by the managers or the top management. If they agree on the decisions made by the company related to change then only the organization should implement it. By focusing on the interest of the employees the changes should be implemented so that operations can easily expand and also goals and objectives can be accomplished. Therefore, the company should emphasize on the considering the change which is taken into consideration by the workers and also it is essential to offer proper training so that with positive behavior they can conduct the activities (Yidong and Xinxin, 2013). Training helps the employees to learn new skills that can give positive impact on the activities of the company. Through training the employees can conduct the activities in a right direction.
Challenges in Managing Employee Behavior
Next factor is related to technology and innovation. Employee’s behavior is also concerned with the technology and innovation. In the recent situation, the challenge for a company is related to the technology and innovation (Wei and Dongri, 2016). The organization can achieve success when there is proper quality of the products offered in market is good. The employees have a role in innovation and also in the changes made in the company. The challenge which is handled by the organization is to encourage creativity and innovation of the workers. If the technology that is considered does not reduce the overall workload of the employees then the negative impact can be seen in the employee’s behavior. Dissatisfied employees also lead to inefficiency in the overall working structure of the company. It is important for the company to adopt the latest technology so that profits can be enhanced and it creates positive behavior of the employees. If the employee has a positive attitude then activities can be conducted in a right manner (Kim and Kim, 2013).
The last factor is related to goals and objectives. The organization has to face a challenge which is related to accomplishing or attaining targets of the company. At the time of focusing on the management of the employee’s behavior then it is the responsibility of the company or the manager. If a manager is not able to manage the behavior of the employees then it is difficult for the employees to conduct the activities. The negative outcome can be achieved if employees are not satisfied. So, it is essential for the company to give emphasis on the worker’s behavior. If the employees have an encouraging attitude then profits can be achieved and also productivity level enhances. The behavior of the employees focuses on how the company is offering the activities by taking into consideration the interest areas and also by giving incentives schemes (Zeng and Honig, 2017).
It has been analyzed that behavior of the employees impacts the overall success and profits of the company. The challenges can be seen in the opportunities related to profits. Employees should give focus to the activities and managers should also provide directions so that they can complete it with efficiency. The behavior gets influenced by the employee’s attitude and it is the attitude of the individual which convert the indicator of the issues that can be encountered by the company. In order to achieve success, it is important to ensure the satisfaction level of the employees. If the nature and behavior of the employee is positive then it can be simple to survive for long time in the company. People with a good behavior have more chances to stay in the company and conduct the activities accordingly.
