The Role of Women in Social Work
The number of women in social work profession is larger than male
The first article “feminist social work” published by Orme (1998, 218) has given detailed overview social work as a profession. The author in this very specific article has pointed out that females are primarily associated with social work services. Research indicates that majority of the staffs associated with social service organizations are female. The author in this article has highlighted the fact that most of the social service users belong to female category. With the gradual discourse of social work theory feminist social work is interpreted as the movement of raising a consciousness among the women. It has been observed that women are getting victimized in society immensely while placing their identity to social people. Therefore, most of the social service centers have to focus on how they would stand beside those helpless women who has to face social abuse in establishing their existence. In quest of providing an effective service to the women the social service centers have decided to hire women employees for providing effective services for the wellbeing of people.
The key points based on which the article is depicted include maintaining equality among both male and female employees. Liberal feminist approaches have provided in-depth overview on how the organization should give value to the talents and skills of both male and female employees. It has been observed the corporate business sectors do not give major priority of the talents and skills of women employees. As a result, women employees do not get enough scope and support for being associated with the business organization. Therefore, social service centers have decided to engage most of the women employees within their service. As a result, women get opportunities and scopes for showing their competencies being a part of social service center.
Numerous eminent scholars have critically analyzed this specific article by highlighting its some of the major drawbacks. Most of the eminent scholars have opined that the author in this very specific article has showed biasness towards women’s’ competency in social work services. The author in this very specific article has not pointed out the importance of providing effective social services. The author is only concerned about highlight the women power and their movements towards getting proper recognition and identity. On the other hand the article has not focused to evaluate the impact of implementing feminist theories based on which the social work can be evaluated critically (Lee and Hudson 2017, 142). The author could have focused to make critical analysis on how women should be given power for resolving social issues. In order to provide social activities there should not be any specific man or woman category. Social work services should maintain gender equality acts. Both men and women should get equal priority and response (Turner and Maschi 2015, 151). Therefore, after evaluating this very specific article the two major questions that can be identified are as follows:
The Importance of Communication for Collaborative Work and Community Development
Thesis statement: Communication should be effective for collaborative work and community development
This very specific article has provided deep insight about the importance of maintaining effective communication with the people with whom an individual works. Contemporary approach of community development highly relies on the ability of practitioners. Practitioners are providing their own opinion on how to maintain effective communication with the persons with whom they are working and coordinating. The author has mentioned in this article on how practitioners have to face immense challenges in maintaining proper communication due to language barrier as well as psychological barrier. The author has depicted that community workers are not efficient enough in maintaining a proper communication with community resident due to linguistic barrier.
The key point of this specific article is to evaluate the importance of dialogic practice in getting good performances. The author has highlighted that proper communication is highly important in order to exchange necessary views and thoughts. With the help of proper communication an individual can understand the goals and objectives where the person would have to reach. The author in context to purposeful developmental relationship has stated that effective developmental work takes place only when people tend to work together by making a collective decision. In order to make collective decision, the persons need to maintain a proper communication with each other. With the help of effective communication, an individual would like to maintain collaborative works.
The article has primarily focused to discuss the impact of proper dialogic practice in maintaining good rapport among the workers. Author while evaluating the importance of good communication does not focus on identifying the areas that create a major barriers in maintaining proper communication. The author in this very specific article has not focused to discuss the necessary reasons of communication barrier (Nwabueze 2017, 142). The author could have explained on how cultural barrier creates a major obstacle among people in maintaining proper communication with each other. On the other hand, linguistic problem is one of the most significant reasons due to which persons cannot communicate with each other proper. Linguistic barriers include accent and dialect issue. People cannot interact to each other properly due to dialect issue. In addition, the author has not showed a clear portraiture on how communication differs between community resident and community workers. Society is automatically discriminated when a barrier is created between community resident and community workers due to communication gap. As a result, society is getting under-developed automatically. Nwabueze (2017, 142) opined that receiving an effective training and development session on communication skill is highly important based on which people would be able to enhance their skills and competency level. The author could have given detailed portraiture on how to implement developmental dialogue in practice. After evaluating the entire study, two major questions are raised primarily:
Drawbacks and Gaps in Existing Studies
Thesis statement: Adult literacy education is based on the content of language lessons
Paulo Freire was a Brazilian educator who primarily advocates critical pedagogy. The Freirean approach to adult literacy education is based on the content of language lessons on the learners’ cultural as well as personal experience. This particular Freirean approach is primarily referred to problem posing approach, psycho-social approach and so many. As per Paulo Freire adult learners take more lessons from real life experience, rather than gathering knowledge from bookish definition. Formal language study does not leave a major impact in enhancing knowledge, skill and competency level of an individual. Every single learner has to focus on dealing with the people of different cultural backgrounds and attitudes. While sharing views with the people of various geographical backgrounds, the learner can gather in-depth knowledge and experience.
As per the concept of Freirean, culture basically implies on how people labor, create and make life choice. As per Freirean belief culture is not a static set of customs, religious belief or social attitude. The author in this very specific article has highlighted on how leaders can develop their mental horizon with the help of practical experiences. Practical experience can enhance the ability of a learner in taking self-decision effectively and prominently.
However, this very specific article is devoid of some of its major gaps as well. In this article the author has stated that human being exists within certain economic, social, political and historic norms. History is human creation which reflects the previous activities. This very specific study has focused to make in-depth overview on how culture and economic background of an individual leaves impact for the mental and psychological development of an individual human being (Motlhaka and Wadesango 2014, 153). The author in this study has not focused to analyze on how an individual learner can render career growth with the help of several stages. The way of rendering a better pathway of career has not been evaluated in this very specific study. In addition, the entire article is very much dependent on Freirean concept. This particular concept believes that practical experience is more effective than theoretical knowledge and belief. The author in this very specific article has not focused to evaluate the importance of theoretical knowledge for the enhancement of an individual’s understanding (Mithra 2014, 123). In addition, the author could have focused to evaluate on how formal education system also leaves positive impact in enhancing knowledge and understanding of an individual. The significance of banking education for maintaining oppressive social order is critically analyzed in this very specific study.
Conclusion
The primary questions that are identified after analyzing the article are as follows:
Thesis statement: The importance of women membership in women’s council
This particular article has depicted detailed overview on the journey of women’s council. The primary objective of this specific council was to promote women membership by participating in community council. In community council women did not get enough scope to share their point of views. Therefore, the establishment of women’s council has rendered immense advantages on women’s power. Women’s council aims to help an individual woman enhancing the scope of training, education as well as employment. It is undeniable that large numbers of females have to keep their skills and telnets under curtain due to the lack of proper opportunity. Women’s council aims to achieve the establishment of appropriate health, education, cultural, artistic and social services. It has been observed that educational institutions do not focus on women learners for providing proper education. In order to take admission in institutions women had to face innumerable difficulties. On the other hand, for being a part of the employee in business institution women had to struggle immensely. However, in this very specific article the author has stated that women talents and skills should not be deprived from being utilized.
The key point of this very specific article is to evaluate on how the establishment of Women’s council has rendered immense positive impact on the overall growth of women. Growth implies in terms of health, employability, education and other additional facilities and benefits. After the emergence of this council, women have got the opportunity of establishing their point of views on the development of society. On the other hand, the author in this very specific article has stated that Women Council is primarily dealing with several projects such as emotional and Social Well-being Project, disability Employment and Participation Project, nutrition Support for Young Mothers and Children Project and so on.
However, this very specific article has focused to provide key analysis about the outcome of establishing Women’s Council. The overall article is entirely based on the aims and objectives of women council. It has been observed that educational institutions do not focus on women learners for providing proper education. The article has not critically evaluated whether Women’s council is successfully able to make their organizational aims and objectives successful or not. On the other hand, the author has not analyzed on how an individual woman has to face immense challenges in establishing her standpoint in front of the social people. Women have every right to enhance educational background and to become an efficient professional in the business field. The author has invested entire concentration on the purpose of Women’s council as the pathway of women’s growth. The author could have focused to provide detailed overview on how women would get back their empowerment by taking membership of Women’s council
