Challenges faced by IT products and services
The main objective of the paper is to understand the worth of information technology among its extensive developments in recent times. The IT-based products and services are increasingly been used in different categories of industries such as the automobile industry and space technology, however there are few challenges which are cropping up in the recent times regarding the IT product and services such as the security breach of Facebook Corporation which occurred in March, 2018 when the user accounts of this social media platform are used for personal benefits. The business application of Facebook is increasing each day due to the advanced modifications made by the corporation (Ivanov and Russell 2018). The integration of the payment gateways with the reputed social media platforms are also a source of concern as it was supposed to be helping the users regarding international transactions. The limitations of the IT-based services have a negative impact on our society as well such as unemployment due to the excessive use of automated technologies (Avgerou and Walsham 2017). The algorithm-based systems is also responsible for the cultural damage to our society as citizens are using the social media platforms for revolts and anti-social activities such as cross border terrorism The paper will be very much useful to understand the different categories of implications such as the ethical implications, social implications, cultural and legal implications.
The developments in the field of information technology have many new technologies such as the augmented reality and artificial intelligence which are used in different categories of industries (Biswas and Muthukkumarasamy 2016). Along with the developments of the IT industry, many new drawbacks emerged such as the data security threats which are needed to be contained at any cost so that the desired goal of the IT products are achieved (Aykin 2016). The drawbacks are the main reasons behind the security issues in the IT-based systems, these fundamental limitations of the IT industry should be controlled with the help of professional data governance plan. The different categories of issues associated with the products and services of the information technology industry such as the data security issue, information security issue, employment issues, security and privacy issues.
Maintaining security and privacy are one of the main limitations of IT services in recent times. Alteration of data is one of the most important security threats coming from the cybercriminals which uses the IT technologies and concepts to get access to a private network or a computer system (Danaher 2017). Data is considered as a assets in most of the global business organizations and any kinds of compromises in the IT products used by the organization can have a huge impact on the organization, thus the IT services which are increasingly been used in different sectors need to be protected from the security threats coming from both inside and outside the organizations.
Data security threats and professional data governance plan
The following unit of the paper will be focusing on the different ways by which security can be ensured for the IT products and services.
The IT services and the associated security measures which can be used in the business organization using advanced IT technologies in their business environment are as followings:
- The social media platforms such as Instagram which are used by most of the global business organizations have security issue associated with the access of information, this issue can be solved purposefully with the help of managing the access for all the admins as well as the users.
- The personalized websites which are developed with the help of programming languages and architecture based on IT are increasingly used in small and medium sized industries for business purposes, it uses huge amount of transactions occurs in the network (Martin 2017). Issues such as DDoS attacks and ransomware attacks have the capability to interfere in the transactions, which can be avoided with the help of updating the security patches of the organizations.
- Most of the governmental organizations uses IT-based products in their working environment such as the protection of the physical and the non-physical assets with the help of the webcams (Noble 2017). The security issues of webcam need to be identified in the first place so that the worth of using the IT product can be justified.
- IT-based applications and information systems are increasingly been used for business purpose to deal with the internal and the external stakeholders of the organization are also vulnerable to security issues such as the threats coming from the networking threats and ethical hackers. The unauthorized access is the main vulnerability of the IT-based information systems.
Inspite of all the contribution of the IT industry there are numerous threats associated with it which is the main reason behind the issues in the IT projects (Zhou, Liu and Zhou 2015). The online payment technique is one of the most important contribution of information technology in the last few years but this contribution also has few limitations associated with it such as the vulnerability to cyber criminals and technical problems (Schnoll 2015). The cost of implementation of the IT systems is also a great challenge for the business organizations so the systems which are implemented in the organizations should be properly maintained and planned so that the organization can get its facility for a long time. The following segment of the paper will be discussing the social implications of the IT developments.
The paper focuses on the social implication of IT technologies. Considering all the major developments of the IT sector , there are few social implications for the use of the IT-based devices such as the decreasing creativity level of the younger students who are increasingly using the IT-based products and developments for education purpose (Long 2018). The other social implication of the IT-based services is the over dependency on IT-based products such as the information systems. The most important social implication due to the IT products is unemployment. The entire national economy of the country may be affected due to the overuse of the IT products. Inspite of the efficiency of the business processes which may be improved due to the presence of the IT devices there are lots of social implications which are very much bad for our society (Baller, Dutta and Lanvin 2016). Technology played a great role in the day to day life, every day increasing number of information system and fully automated home appliance are used in the organizations. The application of these new technologies has a direct negative impact on society in terms of energy consumption. The decreasing social skills is the other social implication of the recent developments in the field of information technology (Trantopoulos et al. 2017). There are numerous categories of health issues such as obesity which are common in our society due to the overuse of the IT technologies both in homes as well as in the business organizations. People are more and more obsessed with computer games rather than playing physically. Physical activity is slowly getting decreased each passing day, excessive consumption of the unhealthy food as they are marketed professional over the internet are the other social implications of the IT (Tanwar et al. 2019). Depressions are the other form of social implication for the IT developments and it is caused due to lack of human contact, lack of exercise, taking unnecessary pills. Poor sleeping habits are the other essential social implication of IT technologies such as social media platforms. The recent wireless networking technology 5G have better bandwidth and data transfer rates than its previous editions but its most significant social issue is that the frequency which are used in this technology have a very negative impact on the migratory birds. Thus this unit of the paper helps in understanding why the IT services are needed to be protected so that the social implication can be contained or minimized. The following unit of the paper will be focusing on the cultural implication of the major IT developments.
Issues associated with IT products and services
This unit of the paper highlights the cultural implication of IT developments. Information technology is very closely related to the work culture of the organizations which are incorporating the IT systems as well as the work culture which are maintained in the office environment. There are lots of cultural issues associated with the development of the IT-based devices, the native culture is slowly disappearing from our society due to the advancements of the IT technologies (Faklaris et al. 2016). The developments in the field of IT has resulted in the growth of new culture in our society replacing the conventional native culture (Stone et al. 2015). The replacement of the native culture is one of the most negative impact of the information technology industry in spite of its developments in improving our quality of life. It can be said that language proficiency has changed in our society due to the excessive use of the social media platforms which allows the users to get connected with billions of people with diverse culture. The connection which are established between the users of the social media platforms sometimes has a negative impact on the culture (Mason 2017). Isolation is the other most negative cultural implication of the IT developments the more new gadgets and new technologies are getting introduced in our society and workplaces the more we are getting isolated from our family members and close friends. Inspite of minimizing the cultural gap between the employees of an business organization, there are few ethical implications of the IT as well such as the machine learning ability of the automated systems. The machine learning information systems are not always suitable to understand the work culture of business organizations, along with that there are lots of governmental protocols associated with those machine learning information systems also; which can be considered as one of the most significant ethical implication of the IT industry. Thus, this section of the paper helps in understanding the reason behind protecting the IT services as it has a negative impact on the culture of our society. The next segment of the paper will be focusing on the ethical implication of IT developments.
The chief aim of this segment of this paper is to focus on the ethical implication of the IT developments. Inspite of the developments, there are different categories of ethical implication associated with the latest IT developments such as the unauthorized access to a private network of a business organization for the cybercriminals results resulting in business loss and a decreasing market reputation for the organization (Zheng et al. 2017). Confidentiality of information is needed to be maintained in most of the business organization which uses advanced management system for the management of the data. The increasing use of the advanced IT-based technologies is resulting in the conflicts in the workplaces. All the legal rights which are stated by the national council are sometimes compromised both in and a personal level or in an organizational level due to the excessive use of the IT technologies (Bankole et al. 2017). Ownership of the data is the significant ethical implication of the IT devices as data are free flowed in the private network in most of the governmental and non-governmental organizations. The intellectual properties are very much difficult to control these day due to the excessive cybersecurity threats. Internet neutrality and digital exchange are the other ethical implication of the IT developments (Gurung, and Prater 2017). Commitment is one of the huge ethical implication of the websites and applications which are developed from the IT technologies as the increasing use of the softwares may result in numerous cyber security issues which can have a direct negative impact on the users of those softwares. Thus, the developments of the IT technologies which have ethical implications have been discussed in this section of the paper. The following unit of the paper will be discussing the legal implications of the recent IT developments.
Social implications of IT developments
The main focus of this segment of the paper is to highlights on the legal implications of the IT developments which are used in both personal level and organizational level. Inspite of the developments due to the IT technologies there are different types of legal implications associated with the IT-based services (Dwivedi et al. 2015). Personalized accounts are there for most of the workers in an organization which are created and developed based on IT technologies, the organizational data as well as the personal data from each account are stored in the secured databases, however recent SQL injection attacks are becoming a real threat for all the data which are being stored in the databases, even there are privacy issues if data are stored in the cloud servers also (Lloyd 2017). There are lots of legal implications of the use of new technologies which are developed with the help of the IT technologies. Hacking is one of the one important legal implication of the IT developments, in spite of its positive aspects where it is used by the ethical hackers for the benefit of the organization, it is also used by the cybercriminals for their personal benefit. The moral codes of business organizations are compromised with the excessive use of automated technologies such as artificial intelligence which works entirely on algorithms (Long 2018). The copyright laws are breached ever now and then with the help of the IT technologies only which is having a direct impact on all the associated industries such as the entertainment industry. Thus from this unit helps in the understanding of the different ethical implication of the IT developments.
Conclusion
The paper was very much useful to understand the worth of the IT developments as the developments in this field also have significant disadvantages such as the health issues like obesity and depression which are the prime negative impact of the technology. The importance of maintaining the IT assets can be also concluded from this paper. The paper concludes about the different categories of security issue among the different IT products such as the social media platforms and the website of the organization where all the operations of the business are planned and monitored inspite of all the major contribution to the other industries in terms of their products.. The application of the IT products by the governmental organization can be also identified in the paper along with that the paper is also beneficial to understand the role of information technology in the development of advanced systems which are useful for business purposes such as the information systems. Thus the paper professionally highlights a few of the contribution of the IT industry. The paper was also very much useful to understand the different categories of issue which are created by the IT but was not meant for having a negative effect such as the use of private network in a working environment which are used by all the stakeholders of the business for management of the business process and the same network can be used by the social engineers regarding any kinds of social engineering attacks. The limitations of the IT developments in the field of privacy and security can be also concluded from this paper. The cultural implication such as the disappearance of our native culture can be also concluded from this paper. The paper highlights that isolation from friends and families due to the excessive use of IT-based technologies such as Whatsapp have the most negative impact on our society. The ethical implication of the IT developments such as unauthorized access to a private network, increasing conflicts in workplaces, violation of the legal rights and intellectual rights can be also concluded from the paper. The legal implication of the latest IT developments such as SQL injection attacks, privacy issues of the databases, hacking can be also concluded from the paper.
