As a Christian, the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ is very significant. It signifies that we have the living hope that is Christ, a son of God, which will come back for the second time to judge the ungodly and reward his own people. Christ needs to die on the cross because without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin and it is only Jesus Christ is considered as the perfect “lamb” that can meet the Father’s requirement.
If a man sins and not repent, he will be spiritually separated from God eternally because for the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord as the book of Romans says. In the Old Testament, when our first parents Adam and Eve disobey God, man is automatically separated (separated spiritually) from him and sin enters to the world.
God loves us but he cannot tolerate sin because he is a holy God.
Because of that fall, man starts to slaughter the best animal (which has no defect), bring it to the temple, offer it to God and sprinkle the animal’s blood as a sign of washing his sin but once and for all, God the Father sends his only begotten son to die on the cross to save his people from death (spiritual death).
Christ death on the cross shows the end of our misery as sinners and salvation is at hand. We can come now to the throne of God through the blood of Jesus Christ.
It is his blood that cleanses us when we repent before God. Moreover, Christ’s resurrection gives us hope that we Christians are not defeated and the God whom we served is truly alive and hears our plea.
