Project Background
This project is to create the wireless network design for HCP Company. The HCP is an intra solar company and it contains solar products which are needed to install and sell. This company has an own building for Foots cay. This company has the security problem without centralizing the management and control system. So, it needs to restructure the network infrastructure. The proposed network infrastructure is needed to provide the high speed network connection and internet access through HCP controlled facilities. This company needs to extend the network services from the second floor to ground floor.
It also needs to change the wired network connection to wireless connection to cover the entire building with both levels. These are analyzed and discussed in detail. The Proposed network infrastructure scheduling plan will be analyzed by using the MS project. The Resource management plan for wireless network design is also analyzed. The Cost and budgeting for the proposed network infrastructure will be discussed.
1. Project Background
The HCP is an intra solar company and it contains solar products which are needed to install and sell. This company has an own building for Foots cay. Within the HCP organization headquarters they tend out the office space for other organizations like Furniture Company, Real Estate Company and we donate site(Xiao, Shen and Du, 2011). All of these companies are located at second floor of the building. Each organization has own offices and won solo network.
But, recently the HCP found that the entire building has very serious workplace network problem without centralizing the management and control system. So, this organization has decided to restructure the network infrastructure. The proposed network infrastructure is used to provide the high speed network connection and internet access through HCP controlled facilities and it needs to extend the network services from the second floor to ground floor. It also requires the wireless connection to cover the entire building with both levels.
2.Current Network and Its Capabilities
The current network for HCP organization is wired network connection for all the four company but, each company has solo network (Peikari and Fogie, 2003). Recently, the HCP found the very serious network connection problem ie, it does not provide the security for an organization. It leads to makes the security problem. So, the organization has decided to restructure the network infrastructure to provide the high security for all the four company within the HCP organization. To provide a secure network by using the Cisco firewall and it is used to provide the secure and effective network connection for an organization. The current network does not use the Cisco products so, it creates the high operational and maintenance cost.
The current network devices do not provide the secure network and it creates the network security problem. The current network uses the wired network capabilities and it does not provide the effective network. So, these are needed to resolve by creating the secure network by using the Cisco network devices for a proposed network infrastructure. The current network diagram is shown below.
Current Network and Its Capabilities
1. Limitations
The current network limitations are encountered the some network limits that could be affecting the framework design. Generally, the network limits are come from the nature of TCP because the TCP is stream oriented which means there is no boundary for messages. So, it leads to make the some network limitations (Lammle, 2011). These are needed to resolve by using the appropriate network requirement for proposed network infrastructure. The proposed network infrastructure requirements are listed below.
- Verify the technical, goals and requirement of the business.
- Determine the functions and features required to satisfy the organization needs.
- Perform a network readiness assessment
- Create a best solution and test plan of site acceptance.
- Create a overall project plan.
2. Additional Capabilities
The additional capabilities for a proposed network infrastructure are listed below.
- The proposed network infrastructure should stayed up all the time when the equipment has failure, overloaded conditions and event of failed links.
- It should be easily modified to adapt to network growth and general business changes.
- It should reliably deliver the applications (Lammle, 2010).
- It should provide reasonable response time from host to host.
- It should easily recover the trouble shooting problem.
- It should time consuming when finding and fixing a problem.
- It should be secure and protect the organization data.
3. New WLAN Design
The proposed network infrastruture is shown below(Hallberg, 2013).
The proposed network infrastructure is used to provide the overall security for an organization. The operational and maintenance cost must be reduced by using the Cisco network devices.. It provides the reliability and scalability for the organization. It easily resolves the organization security problem. It improves the internet connectivity and adds the bandwidth. It should easily update the access layer for LAN cabling. It also provides the redundancy for key services. In defined areas, the wireless access are supported. The network devices and specifications are discussed in below (Osman, 2011).
Routers – Cisco 2901/K9 Routers It is used to enhance card slots of the high speed wireless interface.
- It is used to integrate the power distribution modules to support the Cisco enhanced power of Ethernet connection.
- It uses the authentication, authorization, accounting and public key infrastructure to easily identify the network managements.
- Provide the high security embedded hardware accelerated VPN encryption and it has Cisco unified border element capabilities.
- It enhances the investment protection through the increased performance and modularity.
Switches – Cisco Catalyst WS-C2960-48TT-L Switch The Cisco Switches are used to provide the border network experience, ease of use and improved sustainability. It reduces the network energy because it has high energy consumption
- The branch office network has the fixed configuration access.
- It provides the highly secure business operations and the total cost of ownership is low.
- It has high security features to provide the high scalability and security for a sports complex (Huang, 2014)
Firewall – Cisco PIX 501 Bundle Firewall
- The Cisco firewall is the most popular security appliance. In offices, the high security is delivered by using this firewall.
- It also delivers the plug and play purpose, reliable and scalable build appliance. The multilayer defense is delivered to the offices via security services.
- It is used to provide high speed securing broad band environments.
- It also provides the Dos attack prevention, IPv6 support, firewall and switching protection, 256 bit encryption, Intrusion prevention system protection and DHCP support.
Access Point – Cisco Aironet 2700i Access Point The Cisco access point is used for indoor environments. The spatial streams are provided by supporting the multiple inputs and multiple out technology for a network.
- It improves the performance of downlink and the life of the battery on mobile devices (Claise and Wolter, 2013).
- It designed for high performance applications. It delivers a robust mobility experience based on technologies .It also delivers the high speed spectrum intelligence channel to provide the high wireless interferences.
Cables – RJ45 Connector and Ethernet Cable
- The Ethernet cables are used to connect the devices like switches, routers and PCs.
- The RJ45 connector is a standard that used with CAT6 and CAT5 cables. The information is transmitted by using these cables along with their lengths.
- It provides the reliability and scalability of the network.
- It is standardized telecommunication network interface for connecting data and voice equipment (Rozenblit, 2000).
