1.When I am faced between choosing several valid options, I typically make my decision by making pros and cons list of each decision and asking the people closest to me what they think of the situation so I can weigh their opinions as well. According to the textbook, managers making individual decisions do it in two ways. One is called the rational approach and the other is called the bounded rationality perspective. There are 8 steps to the rational approach which are; monitoring the decision environment, defining the decision problem, specifying decision objectives, diagnosing the problem, developing alternative solutions, evaluating alternatives, choosing the best alternative, and implementing the chosen alternative (Daft, 2016, p.471-472). The bounded rationality perspective goal is to try to get managers to use systemic procedures to arrive at better decisions (Daft, 2016, p.474). The rational approach is similar to my pros and cons list because you are weighing your decisions equally and deciding on the best alternative for the situation at hand.
6. Organizations make small decisions rather than one large decision on something because if the decision they made did not work out, it was just a small change for the company rather than something huge.
8. Managers in high velocity environments would worry more about the present than the future because they have to be able to make quick decisions for their company when needed. AN individual manager working in this environment would probably succeed more with using intuitive decision making because they base their decisions off of experience and judgment so they are better able to make a quick decision.
9. In my personal life, I needed a car bad because the one I owned kept breaking down. I found out my dad got a deal on Nissans from his work and ended up purchasing an all manual car (locks and windows as well) because I was on a time limit and needed something cheap and fast. It is a good car but if I was to do it different I would probably purchase something with automatic locks at least.
