This research will address the problem by focusing on the various research tools and techniques as well as by analyzing the previous studies. The main focus of this research is on the critical review of the literature, analysis of the data collected through the research methods in order to provide some of the of the possible solutions. The objective of this research is to determine the best possible solution to handle the problem of sexual misconduct at the workplace(Inflibnet, 2013).
Research Problem and Objectives
There is a large volume of the previous studies exists that describing the issue of sexual harassment at the workplace. Despite of the legal jurisdictions all over the world, workplace sexual harassment continues to be experienced by many women and individuals in the organizations. According to the previous studies, women are mainly subject to the sexual harassment at workplace because of the gender variance. According to the viewpoint of the various researchers, the case of the sexual harassment of women is on rise because of the number of factors such as poor status of women in the society, more number of working women and lack of knowledge of human resource department, poor law in the society and no provisions to handle these problems. It is important to generate the awareness among the women about the current situation and encourages them to take necessary legal actions against these actions(McDonald, 2011).
According to the Lockwood and Marda (2014), there are many reasons behind the sexual misconduct at workplace and many harmful effects on the performance of the organization. Variety of the organizational sexual harassment cases are because of the uncomfortable working environment and misusing of the powers(Lockwood & Marda, 2014). The impact of the sexual harassment is that it spoils the image of the organization as well as it also affects the employee turnover rates. However, Lockwood said that it is imperative to take necessary actions by the employees as well as by the organization itself to eradicate this serious problem. Another impact discussed by the researcher is that it may results into the depression of the victims. The suggestion given by the researcher is that organization should adopt the whistle blowing mechanism in the organization in order to deal with the claims of harassment more efficiently.
Talking about the one more study conducting by the Hersch (2013), bullying issue in the organization is on rise in the hospital of Nigeria. He also compared the employees facing low level of harassment with the high level of harassment which shows that the low levels of harassment employees are performing much well in comparison to the other employees(Hersch, 2015). The possible outcome of this issue is that it leads to increase the suicidal tendencies among the victims of harassment and also reduces the job satisfaction and work performance of the employees.
There was a report presented by the talent innovation department who revealed that there are 43% of people in the organizations in Australia who agreed with the fact that the women should be appointed at the higher posts. This is a very good sign to avoid this discrimination and made their special places in the corporate world. In the year of 1920, people are grabbing the opportunities and promoting the equal rights and make a great contribution towards the economy and nation by exposing the new talents and brilliance in the women (McLaughlin, Uggen, & Blackstone, 2012).
Expected Outcomes
Moving further, the sexual harassment has a very bad impact on the development of the women. These negative effects mainly found on the physical, psychological, behavioral and emotional nature. Employees may suffer from the various diseases because of the harassment such as the depression, anxiety and many other problems. Moreover, it encourages the aggression, violence and the criminal activities in the employees(Chamallas, 1993). In simple words, the consequences of the sexual behaviour and neglect are as follows;
- Behavioral problems
- Mental health problems
- Affects the physical and brain development of the employees
- Teenage pregnancy due to sexual abuse
- Stress and trauma in children
- Excessive use of drugs and alcohol
- Increase in the rate of the mortality
- Rise in suicidal deaths
There are two types of data which can be collected one are primary and second is the secondary data. The primary data refer to the fresh data which can be used accurately. Secondary data is collected with the help of the previous studies and already data available within the organizations. The primary data is collected for the accuracy and efficiency of the study. Primary data is assumed to be more credible in comparison to the other types of data. The questionnaire has been prepared for this research work in order to find out the possible solutions to handle the sexual harassment at the workplace. The approach used in this research is quantitative and quantitative in nature and it is suitable because it involves the collection of primary data as well as secondary data with the help of questionnaire survey and interview and previous research papers, books and articles. However, mixed research methodology is going to be used for this research. The questionnaire consists of the list of the multiple choice questions with regard to the skills required for new business set up and interview questions with regard to the how company use its capabilities to get the positive results. The questionnaire includes various questions with multiple options and this questionnaire will be distributed to the group of people want to set up their new business. With the help of the questionnaire, it is easy to find out the possible solutions for the organizations. Also, the company contacted the consultancy group to find out the solutions of the problem. It is the responsibility of the research organization to conduct the survey through questionnaire(Zhang, 2012).
Ethical considerations are also the most important aspect of the survey as we need to follow some ethical values and principles. All these ethics and values are essential to identify the moral information. The data that is collected is currently based on the surveys and feedback of the customers. The most important ethical consideration that we have to take into account is the authenticity and confidentiality of the collected data. First of all, before distributing this questionnaire survey among people we should take care that there will be a volunteer participation of the employees or individuals. Therefore, the best part of this survey that all the participants in this survey are volunteers. Development and implementation of the strategies is the part of any business to achieve the organizational goals and objectives(Lockwood & Marda, 2014).
Review of Literature
According to the national statement content, there are many values and principles are set in order to apply the human research to reduce the risks associated with the ethical research. It is necessary that researchers should review the bodies and consider all the values and principles. The research should follow the guidelines of national health and medical research council 1992. This research is relevant because it will be based on the primary data collected with the help of questionnaire and interviews. management is the most important concept and faced many complex and changing environment trends. This relevancy of the research is highly dependent on the responses that we obtained from the new venture owners through interviews and questionnaire survey. In short, privacy, confidentiality and respect at the time of research should be considered in order to avoid the risks associated with this problem. All the ethical issues must be considered while working on the research methods. The researchers may found some difficulties in the collection of the primary data because of the difficulty in the convincing employees to participate in questionnaire survey (Amin & Darrag, 2015).
