Employee performance plays a great role in achieving success. If the employees are not performing according to the expectation level then it can be difficult for the company to achieve large market share or success in the market. Goals and objectives of the company are also accomplished in a proper way if the employees are conducting the activities in a proper manner.
In the present scenario, it has been seen that it is not enough to only give instructions to the employees so that they can conduct the activities in a proper manner, but performance management also plays a great role. If the employees do not conduct the activities with efficiency then it can give negative impact on the overall goals and objectives of the company[1]. It is important for the top management or the leaders to manage the activities of the employees so that they can achieve the overall targets in a proper manner. It is necessary to manage the employee’s performance as to evaluate the performance is considered as an essential function in the business. For a manager, it is important to have proper knowledge about the performance of the employees so that they can manage the performance of each and every employee[2]. If an employee is not conducting the activities with efficiency then it is important for the manager to provide proper directions[3].
It is essential to manage the employee performance as it can help to maintain the overall employee’s efficiency. The performance of the employees is evaluated so that overall efficiency can be enhanced toward the activities which are assigned to them. It has been seen that of employee performance is not managed then it is not possible to enhance the capacity of the employees. The employees have the capacity to work with efficiency but it needs some motivation which can be given by the top management only. By managing the employee performance it can be easy for the leader or the manager to motivate them and give them direction according to their capability[4].
The purpose of performance management is to promote and enhance the employee’s effectiveness. It is a continuous method in which the managers and employees conduct the activities together to plan, monitor and also to evaluate the overall employees work objectives or goals[5].
By managing the employee performance it can be easy to identify the strong and weak links of the employees. The efficiency and also the productivity level of the employees over a period of time can be analyzed[6]. This also helps to evaluate which employee is working according to the expectation level and which employee is not able to achieve the target assigned. By analyzing this it can be easy to manage the exceptional employees by giving promotions and additional requirements. The employees who are not working according to the expectation level can be given motivation by the top management[7].

In the workplace environment, the performance of the employees can be connected with the employee compensation. By managing the performance of the employees it can be easy to give rewards and promotions[8]. If the employee is conducting the activities with proper efficiency then it can be seen that by evaluation of the performance they can give given incentives or rewards[9]. If a person is not conducting the activities well and deserve demotion then they are not eligible for the high pay.
By managing the performance of the employees it can give a positive impact on the overall productivity level of the employees. It helps to enhance the workplace productivity. When the proper evaluation is done of the performance and the employee efficiency, strong and weak points and also compensation then it can be simple to improve the workplace productivity. At the time of managing the performance, the employees get the knowledge about their weakness and also of the peers who are getting good pay and promotions. Therefore, in this way it has been seen that it is important or necessary to manage the performance.
It has been seen that talented and skilled employees are considered as the lifeblood of the company. Also by managing the performance of the employees, it can be easy for the company to given direction according to the policies and procedure of the company. When top management manages the performance they see that the employees are conducting or completing the activities by considering the policies and procedures of the company[10]. If they do not consider proper policies and procedures then they are instructed by the management to complete the assigned task according to the policies and framework of the company.
The performance of the employees can be managed in various ways. It has been seen that managing performance is related to offering the employees effective day to day assistance so that they can carry out the roles and responsibilities in a proper manner. The performance can be managed by the managers or the top management by ensuring that all the requirement and resources are offered and also they should ensure that all the employees are clear about the results which will be attained[11]. Performance can be managed by the employees by giving proper training and development which is necessary for them to complete the assigned task with efficiency.
There are many companies who have a separate department who consider and evaluate the performance of the employees. It can be seen that there are various roles and responsibilities that should be considered by the performance management system. It is important for performance management system to offer training and development to the employees[12]. There is scope for improvement that can take place in every employee. Therefore, it is important for the performance management system to give emphasis on the routine activities so that the employees have the skill can be improved in a proper manner.
The Benefits of Managing Employee Performance
The performance management system of the company focuses on managing the activities of the company and they try to enhance the overall productivity level of the employees. It is important for the company to regulate the activities conducted by the employees. It has been that the performance management system should focus on the concept related to motivation so that the employees can be motivated in an effective manner. Motivation is considered as a factor which helps the employees to conduct the activities in a right manner. Motivation can be given to the employees by offering an incentive, bonuses, and promotion to the employees. If employees are happy then they can conduct the activities in a proper manner.
By motivation, it has been seen that the employees will give best towards the assigned task and the talent can also be seen. By proper motivation technique, it can be possible for the company to enhance the talent of the employees. Motivation can also be done by focusing on the performance appraisals. If an employee is conducting the activities with proper efficiency then they can be motivated considering performance appraisal.
The performance management should also seek to give training to the employees so that employees can have knowledge of the activities which they are conducting or the activities which are assigned to them. By giving training it can be easy for the employees to complete the task in a right manner. It has been evaluated that training is related with the knowledge that is enhanced of the employees. The system of performance management helps the employees to manage the activities and also when the employees conduct the activities in a proper manner then it can help to achieve goals and objectives in an effective manner[13].
It is the responsibility of the performance management system to give feedback and reviews by analyzing the performance of the employees. In performance management department there are various people who look on the activities conducted by the employees of the organization. It has been seen that negative, as well as positive feedback and reviews, are given on the activities completed by the employees.
Managers or the HR give feedback and discuss the performance. They also give rating according to the overall performance of the employees. Improvement emails and feedback are also given by the performance management team which helps the employees to complete the task in a right[14].
Connecting Performance with Employee Compensation
Talent management can also be considered as a factor in which the performance management system focuses on enhancing the capability of the employee. For instance: if they know that employee can complete the task, but he or she is not doing.
Then they try to enhance the overall performance so that the actual talent or the capability of the employee can be showcased in a proper manner. Every employee has a talent but it depends on the top of the performance management system of the company to bring out best in the employees[15].
Performance management system also focuses on maintaining the culture or the environment of the company. They try to maintain proper equality between the employees so that no discrimination can take place and also company can accomplish the overall goals and objectives in an effective manner[16]. Performance management system focuses on creating a positive environment for the company so that employees can be happy and give their best towards the activities which are assigned to them. The performance management team should also conduct the meeting on a regular basis so that employees can share their views and opinion with each other. By discussing with each other it can be easy for the company to gather the information or the views of the employees. By considering their views and opinion it can also be easy to take decisions in the right manner by taking into consideration the viewpoint of the employees.
By analyzing the paper, it is concluded that performance management plays a great role and it is important to manage the performance of the employees so that goals and objectives can be accomplished in an effective manner. Also, the performance management should take into consideration various factors like incentive, training, and culture of the company so that the activities can be completed in a proper manner and with proper efficiency. It also helps to enhance the talent or the skills of the employees.
