Importance of Integrity in Business Organizations

The following essay will look to discuss about the leadership strategies and the importance of practicing the proper leadership skills for the benefits of the business organizations. The most important thing for addressing in this paper is the integrity. The various ways Mandela has brought in the matter of integrity among the African common people will be discussed slong here. The movie Invictus will be discussed here as the main tool to show the importance of integrity. This is indeed an exceptional quality that the leaders must have within them for the better performance. Nelson Mandela has shown a great deal of integrity in the film Invictus. The leadership of Nelson Mandela will be discussed about here as an example. The movie Invictus will be reviewed and aligned with the leadership materials. It is very important to note how the proper leadership effects can improve the quality of the organizations in the best ways. (McCreary et al., 2012).
The film has the rugby championship in focus to understand the ways the country South Africa has overcome the social evil of apartheid (McCreary et al., 2012). The most important and influential characters of this movie are Nelson Mandela, the newly elected president of South Africa and the Springboks team captain Francois Piennar. Mandela had thought of the notion that both the black and white skinned people had the same rights (Hannay & Venne, 2012). They were to be given the same opportunities as well. The most unique leadership style Mandela followed was to embrace his opponent and this was opposed even by his core supporters as well. The best feature of a leader is to direct the organization towards the success so they can count on that specific leader (Hannay & Venne, 2012). It happened in the film that the chief of the bodyguards of Mandela, did not want to work with the white skinned bodyguards of the previous President Frederik de Klerk. Perhaps the most significant aspect of a successful leader is his integrity. In this movie as well, Nelson Mandela showed his integrity to the full and said to the chief of his bodyguards to begin the act of forgiveness and reconciliation. I think integrity is one of the main issues that can be inculcated within the fields of leadership in their respective businesses. In my workplace, I have suffered the lack of integrity that had led my team towards a very poor performance in the past. I began to work in my current organization as the relationship manager and I had to communicate with both the higher management and the employees working under me to make sure a smooth flow of work. I found out that my team mates were from different cultural and ethnic (Wright, Moynihan & Pandey, 2012). I knew that these things will prove to be very much problematic for me to manage my team. I had experienced some very critical situations in my tenure as I found that the company was running in loss. This was the time I had to go up to the employees to seek their help (Carter et al., 2013). I had to make the decision of cutting the payment of the employees by at least 5 to 10%. This would surely help us to get over the troublesome situations. They responded to me with an integrated approach and they became agreed to it. They believed in me and next year we got enough profit. Thus we really got a pay hike indeed.
Leadership of Nelson Mandela as an Example
There are certainly many kinds of leadership styles in the context. The kind of leadership style that Nelson Mandela had followed is that of the transformational leadership. The most crucial problem that the country of South America had ever faced was that of the racial discrimination (Long et al., 2014).
The strategic vision that was in front of Nelson Mandela was to build a reunited Africa. This was very much realistic and would attract the different investors for the development of the nation from the business perspectives as well (Dawlabani, 2014). He wanted that everyone should look at South Africa not as a nation that has a racial past but the one that has a developing present by being reunited. Other things that could be said in this context were the facts that Nelson Mandela wanted to build a nation that is unified and ready to be the global leaders (McCleskey, 2014). When Nelson Mandela began his presidency, he became aware that all the employees of the earlier government were quitting from their jobs. This created a concern in him and he fixed a meeting with the employees (Dawlabani, 2014).
It was Nelson Mandela who had been the path breaking leader to have reunited the white and black skinned people. This had been the most positive thing he ever did because the integrity was brought about between the different people. Nelson Mandela was the very person who had synchronized the entire matter for the benefit of the country. This can be a learning lesson for the working professionals as well (Keskes, 2014) They must possess the integrity to get the best results in their teams. Likewise Mandela, I must mention my experience in the faith on integrity. I saw that the team mates in my organization do not have faith and trust on each other. This is why the organization had been suffering from lack of productivity because of lack of unity. I went on to find the root cause for those issues. I thought that the difference in the cultural and ethnic backgrounds had made the proper difference (Carter et al., 2013). This is when I went to all the employees and asked them to be present in a meeting. I saw that they did not talk to each other much. Then I gave them a speech on the importance on maintaining the integrity and stay united. This would surely help them to give more productivity for the organization. This integration process had a positive effect on them as well. They believed in the process of open communication and stressed on being honest. This had built much effective relationships between all the employees. This also made my work easier of leading them positively. I could provide them with rewards for their effective contribution in the growth of the company as well. Just like the fact that both the black and white personal bodyguards had been able to work together, the organizational leaders should also make the attempts of making the employees from different ethnic backgrounds work together as well. The leaders must possess the high level of emotional intelligence like Nelson Mandela as well. This should higher their chances of becoming highly successful (Braun et al., 2013). Thus I made the employees understand the significance of integrity at the workplace.
Conclusion
This paper can be said to be the perfect manifestation of posing the best leadership styles. It is very important to note that the way of transformational leadership has been portrayed in the film Invictus by Clint Eastwood has been exceptional one. Nelson Mandela has been an exceptional leader in controlling his workforce as his personal bodyguards. The leaders should have the ability to convince the employees to do the things that are best for the organization. Nelson Mandela has also practiced these good things for the benefit of his country as well. Thus the organization can progress with the in the positive manner if the leaders try out the best ways of transformational leadership.
