Summary of the current policy
Discuss about the Elder Abuse Policy Critique.
Elderly abuse is an extremely important aspect which needs to be addressed properly in the society. It is extremely important that organisations and the government should together focus on analysing the aspects which help to stop elderly abuse. The Australia Government has been upfront about making effective policies which would help to make sure elderly abuse is properly managed. There have been number of cases of elderly abuse in the society which is gradually increasing that shows the brutality of the modern culture in the society. There is a prevalence of elder abuse in Australia and around 5-10% Australia elders are abused in a year which means the rate is consistently increasing which is a bad sign for the society. It is extremely important to note that elder abuse is a wrong sign for the society and deeply impacts the coming generation as well because it has a negative effect on the younger generation (Kaspiew, Carson and Rhoades, 2016).
The elder abuse in Australia range from elders with terminal cancer to elders with dementia and other disorders which clearly shows that there is a particular motive behind the abuse and this has to be stopped. Elder abuse has significant consequences on the elders because it not only affects them physically but also mentally and financially. In a recent report prepared it has been seen that elderly people have been largely subjected to financial abuse which is one of the major problems in the Australia cities and hence it is important to focus on analysing a particular policy on elderly abuse and its review to come up with better strategy to manage elderly abuse which would help the Government to reduce the rate of elderly abuse in the country and provide them with a better environment to live in. The main objective of the present study is to evaluate and discuss the Elder Abuse Policy that is implemented by the Government of Australia to manage elder abuse in the society and protect the elders (Daly et a., 2011).
The current policy which is implemented by the Government of Australia and is abided by the local council is focused on elder abuse and to eliminate any sort of abuse on the elders. Analysing elder abuse cases and providing the best possible solution to the case is the main focus of the policy. It is important to mention that there are certain key aspects which have to be highlighted in the present discussion about the current policy. It is important to note that the current elder abuse policy has number of different segments firstly investigation, monitoring template and risk registers and action plan which helps to jot down the suitable actions which would help to resolve the cases effectively. Prevention is considered as an extremely important aspect in the present study and this is one of the major aspects in here. There is a separate prevention framework in the current policy (Schofield, Powers and Loxton, 2013).
Effective Consultation for Development of the Policy
The present policy is focused on investigating the atrocities properly and effectively and also to focus on improving the overall solution strategy for effective elder abuse management. Elder abuse management is the primary focus of this policy and it does it in a two way form monitoring and prevention. The elder abuse policy has been a well sketched and streamlined policy which helps the Government to focus on improving the hold on elder abuse. The elder abuse policy is largely formed with a global approach analysing the UK and US approach to elder abuse. From the perspective of public health elder policy is considered essential aspects because the society shows the backward sects of the society in terms of age (Kosberg et al., 2012).
Consultation is extremely important to improve the work of the policies and hence it is important to bring into attention of the different groups of people the role and purpose of the Elder Abuse Policy has to be properly conveyed so that the improvements could be effectively made. Effective consultation for the development of the policy is important to handle the issue of elder abuse in the best possible way. In the present case advancement of the policy is focused upon and hence in order to improve the present policy it is important to implement proper review procedures in the study (Kosberg and Garcia, 2013).
In order to make changes in the policy it is extremely important to discuss the key aspects of change with the authorised teams. For instance speaking to the local healthcare agencies and personal carers is extremely important who are involved in providing services to the elderly people. It is important for the governments and organisations to collaborate in order to understand the key aspects which need to be changed. It is important for the specialists to understand what needs to be changed. The main focus of the survey done on the different stakeholders involved in the policy is to comprehend the role of the elder abuse policy and whether it has any impact or not. The positives and negatives of the present policy has to be understood and hence it is extremely important to involve the key stakeholders like the NGOs and the General Practitioners, the different official departments involving the elder management groups et cetera (Bernoth et al., 2014).
It is important to note that the main issue related to elder abuse is the loss that the elderly people have to suffer. There have been number of cases of elderly abuse in Australia in the recent past which means that it becomes extremely important to manage the issues effectively. There have been issues with proper intervention and hence it is important to identify the issues properly before moving to amend changes in the policy. In order to provide a holistic response to the issue of elderly abuse it becomes extremely important to identify the key issues related to elderly abuse. Firstly it is important to note that elders do not get proper legal or social support to combat. Secondly weaknesses in being able to manage the personal issues properly are another major aspect (Dow and Joosten, 2012).
Communication with Authorised entities
In order to improve the policy effectively the consultative team has to come into the picture. In the consultative team there are different government officials, the healthcare teams, abuse management groups et cetera are directly consulted to provide proper insight to update the elder abuse policy. The consultative team plays an important role in the analysis of the policy which helps to identify the loopholes properly. There are number of key loopholes which have been found with the help of the consultative team. The officials and the healthcare employees along with the involvement of the abuse management officials have helped to identify the issues which ate mainly the investigation and development of the solution. It is important to mention that the assessment of the overall issue will have to be managed effectively which could be only done with the help of the consultative team. From the communication with the consultative team it is clear that there is a need of improvement in the policy which means that the Government needs to consider change in the policy (Dong et al., 2013).
This section is extremely important to highlight the key aspects of elder abuse policy which would help to justify the need of the policy in the country. The aspect of elder abuse is essential at the present moment in Australia and hence it is important to analyse the need of change in the country. In the present segment various sources of literature has been gathered and synthesised which would help to ensure the approach to change the elder abuse policy is effective. The literature gathered will help to analyse the different key aspects involved with elderly abuse in the country (Bagshaw et al., 2013).
According to Brogden and Nijhar (2013) elderly abuse prevalence has increased to a large extent in the recent past not only in Australia but also in countries like Australia. In fact in some of the parts in Australia Elderly abuse is extremely common which clearly creates the need of analysing the present elderly abuse policy. The authors have also emphasised on the fact that there are several reasons for elderly abuse which needs to be analysed properly to come to suitable conclusion. Even though the Australian Medical Council have tried to come up with stronger policies with to maintain a proper balance in the case of elderly abuse there hasn’t been effective movements that is extremely important to manage elderly abuse in some of the boroughs around London. It cannot be denied that the older people become vulnerable to abuse to a large extent especially financial abuse which is considered crime in the Australia but somehow the rate of financial abuse has not reduced in the country against elderly people which is a serious matter of concern and has to be properly managed. In this scenario it is important to acknowledge the overall need of a change in the elder abuse policy and hence it needs strong approach and procedure (Phelan, 2013).
Identification of the issues
In the present process of literature a proper research is applied which helps to get suitable data that is important to analyse the issue of elderly abuse and improve the present elderly abuse management policy. There are various key sources which would be applied in the present research for instance for secondary data the different online articles and existing studies will be applied on the other hand for primary data it is important to have some elderly people as populace and organise the research around them that will help to get extremely effective data for the effective completion of the research (Lacey, 2014).
The percentage of elderly abuse in the Australia has had significant rise in the recent past that is considered bad and disturbing for the society, Around 212000 elders have been abused in the last years out of which carers have been the chief source of abuse. Looking at the present numbers it is important to analyse what leads to the abuse and how to improve the elderly abuse policy to an extent that would help reduce the impact on the elders. The present study is significant in nature because it will help to gather effective data and synthesis them effectively in order to ensure proper collection and data synthesis for effective results (Bagshaw et al., 2013). It is important for the stakeholders involved elderly abuse management to be focused on being active in managing elderly abuse. The Australian Medical Council plays crucial role in managing elderly abuse but it is important for the other organisations to play a supporting role to improve the policy. There are certain key steps that need to be taken in order to improve the hold of the policy especially during investigation and screening of the elderly policy. It is important to keep a segment of elderly people under observation specifically facing certain abuses or life events which would help the researcher to understand the degree of risk there in elderly abuse and accordingly modify the overall policy effectively to get the best possible result (Dow and Joosten, 2012).
The present research has been effective because it has helped the authors to understand what restricts the operations of the Elderly abuse policy at the present moment and what could be done better to improve it. At the present moment elderly abuse requires investigation and care service but complete protection is important and hence it is extremely important to make changes in the elderly abuse policy. In the present case it has been seen that elders suffer to a large extent once abused and hence it is extremely important to keep them under intensive care, provide them placement and ensure them safe house so that they can lead the rest of their lives effectively. The modified policy for elderly abuse will help to provide improved safety and security especially in terms of abuse. Overall it is extremely important to provide improved services especially for the effective care of the elderly people. In this case the involvement of each and every entity involved in elderly abuse management will be required (Clare, Blundell and Clare, 2011).
Discussion with the consultative team
Implementation of the new policy will focus on analysing the overall abuse management. It is important to screen the overall populace chosen for the elderly abuse effectively which would help to focus on implementing the policy in the best possible manner. Elder people who are abused it is extremely important to provide an effective system to provide care for them. As per the experiential statistics it is important to have a complete elder protection framework which would help to focus on improving the new policy in such a way this would help to effectively suffice the requirement. The implementation of the new policy mainly is done once a thorough review is done on the policy and consultation is positive about the policy. In the present case protective support would be provided with the help of assistive technology like infrared and buttoned sticks which would help to assist the new policy (Taylor et al., 2014). In order to effectively implement the new policy it is extremely important to have a proper action plan. The action plan is discussed below:

Conclusion
Elder abuse is an existing problem in the Australia. It is extremely important for the Government to implement a stronger policy which would help to make sure the prevalence of the elderly abuse is effectively managed. The elder abuse policy is extremely effective but with some loopholes and hence it was important to make changes in the policy so that the issue of elder abuse is effectively managed and proper protection and policy improvement is done. The ageing population of the country has to be supported and protected and hence the present modified policy will take care of that in the best possible manner. It is effective to mention that the modified elder abuse management and protection policy will help to safeguard and provide proper financial, mental and physical protection of the elders which is extremely important for the overall eradication of the elder abuse. Through this program it will be effective to identify the needs of the elderly and safeguard them effectively before they are abused which means this would be for most of thee part an active policy to safeguard the elders from imminent abuse.
