Management Plan
Discuss about the Implementation Plan for Australian Storage Facility.
The project, which is related to the “Australian storage facility”, can be implemented successfully if the following factors are taken into consideration
- Culture and Style: The organization culture and style is directly related to the concept of the success rate, which is related to the project. This mainly include the factors of management of time, style of training which is given and many more. The culture and the style which is related to the organization taking into consideration the multinational oil company mainly consist of motivation, system of reward, ethics of work , leadership, social norms and the concept of the vision and mission relating to the project. the factors which are stated above directly helps in the concept of implementing the Australian tank facility successfully within the budget which is estimated.
- Structure of management: The organizational structure, which is, related to the management play a vital role in any scenario. The management takes advantage of the projected structure by which means the project manager have the maximum authority over the “Australian storage facility project”. The members, which are stated, are in overall control over the project and they have the authority to set priorities of the project, direct the team members and direct the application of the resources. The main aim of the estimations is to finish the project within the budget and the time, which is set for the project. All the members of the team who work in the project directly report to the project manager. At the end period of the project, the resources, which are related to the project, would be directly reassigned to another project, which fall under the same category. Every project have more than one phase related to it, the project manager whose main aim is the proper implementation of the project controls the phases.
- Personal skills: In order to make the project successful and complete within the estimated time the personal skills of the members of the project play a vital role. The aspects, which generally fall under the sector of personal skills, are the cost management, leadership, ability to manage the overall activity and the aspect of managing the quality of the project even. It is the role of the project manager who have the overall control for the management of the resources so that the project would be completed within the estimated constraints. The project manager is also entitled to resolve the entire problem, which are faced within the internal working of the project and take into consideration that the project would not hamper the working of the project. The team as well as the project manager should have the necessary skills, which is related to the project management, which would be helping them to reach the goal of the project.
- Boundaries and level for the autonomy and authority: Every project has a set of authority, which are involved into the overall working of the project and the team member work according to the rules, which are set forward. It can be stated that depending upon the complexity of the project the number of departments involved into the project are mainly decided. Each of the project has a leader assigned who looks over the overall working of the team. The leader is basically assigned according to the skills and the quality they usually possess. The division of the team is basically done due to the factor that not every person or worker have all the knowledge in every area so it basically aims at making a person concentrate on a particular area rather than focusing in all the sector at one time. In order to facilitate the proper working it is majorly seen that each team concentrate on their area of expertise and does not involve into the working of other team.
- Project team characteristics: The project team, which is assigned for the implementation of the “Australian storage facility”, should consist all the characteristics of an effective project team. In any project, the project team members are very much skilled, motivational, and influential with the other member working at a common goal of finishing the project within the estimated time. The members of the project should be allowed to take suggestion from their superiors so that they would be able to finish the project successfully without any external and internal issue related to the project. These type of characteristics, which are stated, can help the project to be successful (Fernandes, Ward & Araújo, 2015).
The aspect of managing the project, which is related to the “Australian Storage facility”, should focus on primarily four factors, which are as follow.
The concept of time can be one of the most vital factors, which play an important role in the overall working of the project. The effective management of the project can be done if the process, which is related to the time management, is done properly. If the factor of time is properly justified it can help the project to reach to the desired level of success. Taking into consideration the “Australian tank facility” it is very much important to use the tools and the techniques very much effectively. There should be involvement of periodic review which would be helpful in getting the overall justification of the process and the to get an idea on how the overall working of the project is done.
It can be stated that the factor of budget decides whether the project is successful or not. In most of the cases, it is seen that a project fails due to failure of budget. There are different factors which are involved into the concept for example financing, budgeting, managing as well as controlling the different factors of cost so that the entire project can be completed within the budget which is estimated. In most of the cases, it is seen that the use of the tools and technique of the project can directly reduce the overall cost, which is related to the project. The management of the cost can also be done with the help of proper planning at the start of the project so that the different factors are taken into consideration. The annual cost of the metrics are directly associated with the management of the cost and calculated annually (Joslin & Müller, 2015).
The management of the resources can be considered as one of the most important task for the project managers. The management of the resources can be stated as a technique, which would be helping the overall organization to initiate proper planning. There are different types of tools, which can be used for the concept of proper planning related to the resources management. In some cases, it is seen that the allocation for the resources are done in excessive amount which may lead to wastage of resources which can directly impact the overall budgeting process. Project management software’s can also play a vital role in this aspect of the management of the resources (Mir, F. A & Pinnington, 2014).
Time
The quality management process can be considered another factor, which always play vital role which directly reflects the overall success of the project. The factors that play a vital role in the quality management mainly include policy of quality, creating quality planning and implementing them which can highly benefit the quality of the organization. The tools, which is known as the Pareto chart, can be useful in the concept of managing the quality of the project. The Pareto chart can be very much helpful in the aspect of reflecting the probability density as well as the concept of distribution function.
There are some other steps, which would be very much beneficial for the aspect of managing the project, which is related to “Australian Storage facility”, are as following.
- Monitoring progress: The concept of monitoring of the progress can be considered as one of the most significant steps in the working of the project. Due to the factor that the monitoring of the progress is one of the most important factors it has to be given sufficient time so that there are no errors involved into the working.
- Tracking project: the tracking of the project can be considered important due to the factor that it helps in the identification of the errors. This helps in the aspect of keeping a track that all the factors within the project are being conducted properly. Project tracking can also be beneficial in a way of mitigating the issues which are related to the project.
- Arranging meeting: The meeting can be considered one of the effective ways by which the overall working of the project can be considered. In most of the cases, it is seen that when there are some issue which are faced within the project the aspect of meeting can be very much useful in mitigating the problem. It can be considered as an event where all the project members along with the project member actively discuss about the working of the project and what should be done to reach the success factor of the project (Kucharska & Kowalczyk, 2016).
It can be stated that in order to determine the success of the project the “Australian Storage facility” should take into consideration the aspects of the key performance indicators. According to (Badewi, 2016) it can be stated that the indicators of the key performance criteria are one of the quantifiable measures which helps in the evaluation of the success factors of the project. it can be stated that it is the performance measurement area which directly indicates how the overall performance of the project which is related to the Australian Storage facility is performing. The factors, which can indicate whether the project objectives are meet for, not are stated below:
Schedule metrics: If the project, which is related to the Australian Storage tank, is completed within the time, it is estimated to complete the project can be considered a successful project. The concept of schedule variance play a vital role in the part of the investigation whether the project is successful or not. It can also be helpful in the aspect of getting an idea whether the project is running on the schedule time or not (Mir, F. A & Pinnington, 2014).
Financial metrics: If the project is completed within the estimated budget, which is predefined, then it can be stated that the project is successful. Proper financial analysis is required which would be indication the overall profit, which is obtained from the project. The concept of schedule variance and the budget are calculated which would be helping to make sure that the Australian Storage facility is completed within the assumed budget which is set. If the factor of the cost is performed wisely, it can be stated that all the factors of the project are well maintained and properly executed according to which it was expected.
Budget
Resolving challenges: There can be different factors or issue, which can be faced during the execution of the project. If these factors are managed properly and the mitigation of the risk or the issue are done properly then it can be stated that the project is successful. The direct implementation of the Australian storage facility would be helpful in the concept of mitigation of the problem, which is faced by the organization in the infrastructure of the tank. The project does not only resolve the issue but also provides a basic opportunity for the organization with which they can save an amount of approximately $20000/month. This is the amount they generally invest on the issue, which are related to the environmental as well as the fines of the leakage of the products of petroleum products into the soil of the surrounding areas (Eskerod, Huemann & Savage, 2015).
Quality metrics: If the project manager aim at implementing, the project of the Australian storage tank properly within the estimated budget and within the time constraint by maintaining the project’s quality then the project can be considered as a success. In order to see whether the project is a success or not quality analysis can be considered one of the most important factors. Project’s proper management can be considered as one of the most important factors before the project manager for the concept of the accomplishment of the projects objectives as well as the goals of the project (Sánchez, 2015).
The steps which should be taken into consideration to mark the projects closure are stated below:
- Release of the resource: At the closure of the project, the release of the resources that are associated with the project should be done properly. It can be stated that it is one of the most important factors, which should be taken into consideration in the scenario. The release of the external stakeholders can be stated as an obvious factor, which is attached to the contact which is applied with them (Eskerod, Huemann & Savage, 2015).
- Completing paper work: paper work, which is related to the project, can be considered as a hectic job, which has to be done with precision. In most of the cases, the someone who is experienced does the job of providing the paper work. This is due to the factor that it involves lots of activity and the document can be considered very much important.
- Celebrating success: In this stage, the team members who work activity in the project are rewarded for the completion of the project within the budget and time and for the hard work, which is deployed into the project. It can be considered as one of the most important aspect of the project closure, which can also mean that the provisioning of a new seed is done which would be helping to plan for another project.
- Achieving documents: It can be stated that the concept of the achieving of the documents are very much vital due to the factor that it can be used in the near future. If the documentation of the project were not done in a proper manner, the planning, which would be involved into the project, would be lost.
- Documentation: Documentation can be stated as a sector of reviewing of all the aspects of the projects. This is mainly done about see if the project faced any sort of problem during the implementation of the project. The documentation is done in a legal manner, which states the outcome of the project.
- Post project review: Post project review can be considered as a techniques which would be used in taking into consideration all the aspects and the working areas of the project which have been completed or not. This gives an overall justification of the project and the methods, which are used in the project.
