In order to build an effective team, the team the qualities of team members are very important. Depending on the strength of the team members, the team leader takes future decision regarding the functions for the team. In this study the effective team building process has been discussed by highlighting five team members.
I have built my team with 5 members namely James, Desi, Zachary, Quang and me (Maris). Among my team members I have analyzed the James have worked as a Navy, therefore, he has the capability to deal with different challenges. I have also analyzed the strength of James. It have identified that James is a good learner and activator. He is a strong achiever and has the quality of individualization. The second member in my team is Desi. I have analyzed that she has the quality to accept the consequences of every action. Therefore, this can be said that by using her futuristic quality, I will get the chance to deal with the challenges. In this case she can play the role of a motivator. She is also a restorative, Includer and achiever too. The third member is Zachary, who is a strong developer, confident and has the quality of adoption. These quality will be helping in the case of accepting the new task and he can also encouraged to others for accepting the challenges. Quang has the mature personality, which has made him more responsible towards his work (DeWitt & Dilley, 2017). By using his strategic, relator and adaptability, the person will be able to provide effective decision for my group. On the other hand, he will also be able to fulfil his job responsibilities. If I will talk about my strength, I can say that I am a good learner, developer and have restorative personality. I love to learn from every people. This quality of mine will help me to develop my team productivity.
Among all my team member, I have analyzed the important five strength which will be helping me in the case of developing my team productivity are responsibility, adaptability, developer, learner and futuristic. Using these qualities, I will be able to accept the challenges and also will be able to deal with those. The major weakness in my team is cultural conflicts, which can create the disappointing situation in a team (Epro et al., 2017).
Possible areas of weakness or conflict within the group
By taking the decisions from all my tea members I have decided to introduce brain storming as my team building activity. I have decided, to motivate my team members through different motivational quotes. As per my opinion this will be more creative for the group. If the memes will be created by the team members, it will be helping to enhance their creativity and using the pictures and meaningful quotes, I will be able to inspire my team members. As I have mentioned that I will create memes as my team building activity, because I believe, through creating different memes, my team memes will be able to use their own creativity as well as this will be helping in the case of making them interactive. This will develop strong relationship among the team members and the cultural conflicts can be reduced in my team.
In order to conduct the team, depending on the strength, I will be appointing the team members in different posts. As I have analysed that James is an achiever, therefore this quality will be helping in the case of achieving the goals and objectives of my team. I will appoint him as the functional manager. Desi is futuristic, therefore this quality can be used in the recruitment and selection process. Zachary has the quality of adaptability. Using the quality of adaptability, the person will be able to lead the team by accepting different challenges (Bush, LePine & Newton, 2017). Quang is very responsible towards his job. Hence, he can be appointed as the functional manager in my team. If I talk about myself, Empathy is one of the important strength of mine. This can be helping me to understand the needs and demands of my team members.
The proper understanding of the job responsibilities of the members in the team helps in increasing the efficiency of the functions of the members. The different aspects of the change in the structure and the performance of the team is derived from the identification of the talents of the team members and the manner in which the talents can be utilized to achieve the objective of the team. In this context, James is an individualistic person and a performer who functions in the goal- oriented manner. James can possibly work on the achieving the goal of the team and the manner in which it can be asserted to the team. On the other hand, I am gifted with the qualities of empathy, which will be helping me to place myself in different situations to formulate strategies to bring in changes in the team functions. Desi is futuristic which will be helping in predicting the different levels of risk that might be faced by the team. Zachary is a developer who can contribute to make the team more competitive while undertaking steps to bring in changes. Quang is a responsible person who helps in bringing in changes in the systems of the team. It has helped in bringing in efficiency in the team dynamics and the mutual growth process.
Team building and its effectiveness
I am Maria and I am gifted with the talent of empathy, which will be helping me to understand the different situations that are faced by the members through placing me in their positions (Davis, 2018). It will be helping me to figure out the possible strategies for the issues to be resolved. On the other hand, I am a developer who can take steps to bring in changes in the performance of the team in relating to its functions (Grigorik, 2013). Learner is again an attribute that helps in bringing in changes in the systems through continuous efforts for bringing in modifications in the functions. The restorative function helps in maintaining the previous concepts of the change in the systems and thereby brings in improvements in the undertakings of the team (Koriat & Adiv, 2016). Consistency has helped in maintaining a continuous improvement in the team dynamics that has helped in maintaining the different levels of change in the systems. Therefore, from the calculation of the above strengths I believe that I will be able to mitigate the issues that are faced by the team members and thereby promote the smooth functioning of the team as per the objectives. The identification of the needs of the team members and the manner in which the talents they possess can be integrated will be helping me to bring in improvements in the processes of the team.
The identification of the various issues that might be faced by the team while undertaking the different level of functions and the prediction of the risk factors helps in maintaining the team dynamics. On the other hand, the understanding of the nature of the people working in the team will be helping me to mitigate the interpersonal and personal issues that might affect the functioning of the team as per the needs of improvements. The key changes that I might bring into the systems are based on the identification of the change needs through the consistency and the manner in which it will be helping the team to develop on their functions. The learning attributes of the change is based on the identification of the needs of the team to bring in changes in the systems through continuous efforts of making improvements as per the identification of the environmental competitiveness. The identification of the team objectives and the manner in which the team mates can be integrated will be helping to bring in improvements in the functioning of the team as per the objectives of the same. I must also take steps to improve futuristic thinking to bring in further improvements in the team.
Conclusion
Therefore, it can be stated through examining the different strengths of the people in the team that the proper integration of the team members helps in the smooth functioning of the team. On the other hand, the identification of the needs of the team members helps in maintaining the different levels of change in the systems.
