About the article
Discuss about the Maintaining The Safety And Security Of The Hospital Environment.
The article provides an overview of a typical day at work for people working in hospitals in Singapore. The safety concerns of the people working in the hospitals along with that of the patients admitted in it are a major concern that is portrayed in the article. The role of an occupational hygienist is under scan in the article. The article provides an understanding of a typical day at work for an occupational hygienist. The schedule that is followed by the individual and the manner in which they help in maintaining the safety and security of the hospital environment is stated in the article. At the same time the professional benefits that can be gained from adopting the role is also stated in the assignment.
Apart from this, being an occupational hygienist also has certain negative sides. For example, it requires hard work as the health and safety of every worker need to be accounted for. Monitoring the movement of every worker or patient can be a stressful task for an individual. Thereby in my opinion, the job of an occupational hygienist is critical. The required level of concentration is humongous and identifying the health concerns of the people can be tricky. Despite the fact that the job provides challenges, it can be difficult as it may cause a lot of stress. In this regard, I think that the role of an occupational hygienist requires proper guidance as well as training from experienced people in the profession.
The strength of the article is that it provides an excellent description o the manner in which occupational hygienists work in a hospital. The schedule provided has given me an idea about the manner in which the occupational hygienists carry on in their work. The daily schedule can change subject to requirement and it is necessary that people keep in mind the importance of the work undertaken by the individual involved in this particular work. In my opinion, another important thing that this article focuses on is providing a proper reason for choosing this particular profession. The benefits that the profession can provide are stated. I believe that this can be a motivational factor for the people seeking a career in hospital. In my personal observation the challenges as well as the fact that an occupational hygienist can visit other industries, provides an idea about the excitement of the job that they have.
Strengths of the article
At the same time, the article also provides certain negative consequences that may prove people that occupational hygienist can be a tricky profession. I my opinion, the fact that people adopting this particular profession require to be patient is one of the necessities of this particular job. I also liked the fact that the perception of family, friends and social people are provided in a humorous manner. This adds to the excitement of the profession and provides the society with a sarcastic view of the profession as an occupational hygienist.
Despite the fact that the article provides a humorous side to the profession and encourages people to take up the profession of occupational hygienist, it also has certain drawbacks. One such drawback is the fact that it does not give a detailed account of the advantages and weakness of the profession. I have observed that the benefits as well as the limitations of the profession are provided in brief. This provides vague idea about the advantages and weakness. In my opinion, this is a huge drawback for the article, as the people need to understand the reasons for the choice of the profession or for rejecting it. The lack of clarity may get people to take a second opinion about the choice of the profession.
In this regard, I can say that such lack of information may provide the article less prominence with the people. People may want to choose a different profession or the same profession as per the lack of knowledge. At the same time, the schedule provided may not be always consistent. This is another drawback of the article as I recognised that the scheduling might vary from one person to another depending upon the requirement of the job as well as the shifts of the time. Thereby, the generalised version of the article is a huge drawback for the article.
After analysing the contents of the article as well as its limitations and drawbacks, I can state that the article is good at providing a subtle description of the profession of an occupational hygienist. The fact that the profession can be a challenging factor highlights the fact that people inclined to undertake challenges might want to take up the profession. In my personal opinion, succeeding in the profession of an occupational hygienist require patience and a great deal of concentration. The fact that regular monitoring of the people is required provides an understanding of the manner in which the level of patience is required for success in the profession.
Weakness of the article
Although I have observed the sarcasm of the application of the profession, I am inclined to believe that the profession requires great mental strength and regular attention. At the same time, I believe that leadership quality and an ability to guide is required for the people undertaking this profession. This is mainly because of the fact that an occupational hygienist need to convince people about the manner in which they need to stay safe. Therefore, it can be said that in my opinion, the article is a mixture of good and bad things that may provide perspective towards applying for opting the profession of an occupational hygienist.
The article focuses on the occupational health hazards that may occur in a construction site. The perceptive of the article is on the construction sites that exist in Singapore. The manner in which the Singaporean people take precautions about the well-being of the people is provided in the article. Details about the Singaporean workplace and safety report are provided that highlights the manner in which the concern of the local people are of great importance for the Government of the country. In my opinion, construction sites have a high percentage of diseases occurring. Therefore, it is necessary to understand these diseases and at the same time ensure that occupational diseases in the country are reduced.
The article provides are a detailed description about the occupational diseases that may occur in the various aspects of construction sites. At the same time, I am particularly intrigued by the examples that have been provided about the real life events that may cause a threat to the lives of the construction workers. The article also provides a detailed description about the manner in which common hazards can be identified as well as mitigated. Therefore, I can say that the article is useful for people working in construction firms so that they can remain safe and conduct their work in a positive manner.
The article provides a detailed understanding about the manner in which occupational hazards may affect the lives of the people working at a construction firm. In my opinion, the fact that the article provides examples of real life incidents that may occur in a construction site is a positive sign of the article. This can provide people with an idea of the things that they need to avoid so that they can lead a healthy life at the workplace. At the same scheduling of the acts along with the dangers it pose is another positive aspect of the article. The common hazards that can be identified in a construction site are well described in the article. In my opinion, the manner in which the exposures are described provides a proper analysis of the type of situation that normally takes place in a construction site.
Evaluation of the article
Another positive aspect of the article is that it provides mitigation technique for people afraid of heights. I have seen that constructions workers need to work at great heights and at the same time are prone to falling from it. The article with the help of a diagram has provided mitigation techniques that outline the manner in which accidents from heights can be controlled. Therefore, I believe that the article is well constructed to identify the hazards and provide support to the people working at the construction sites.
The weakness of the article is that it does not provide real life example of incidents that had happened in the construction workers. In my opinion, this can be considered as a huge drawback as real life incidents can help in the better understanding of the hazard. This is mainly because with examples of real life events, people can understand the experiences that were caused and relate the experience with that of the current stage. The article fails to highlight the possibilities that may occur in case of failure to meet the contingency plans that are formulated to take care of the hazards.
Vague identification of various possible hazard-causing elements is identified without proper description about its origin or about the methods put in to mitigate the strategy. Although a flowchart of a noise induced deafness programme is provided, it does not account for the proper mitigation technique that is required for success. Another weak point of the article is that it focuses on the construction workers in Singapore only. The hazards are a common threat for all construction workers across the world. Therefore, the article needed to provide an overall statistics that portrayed the rate at which construction workers in every country can mitigate the hazards that come in its way. Based on this I can state that an evaluation of the article can be made so that its beneficiary to the readers can be identified.
After the analysis of the strengths and weakness, it can be said that the article provides a quite overview of the occupational hazard structure in Singapore. The fact that emphasis is put on the safety of the construction workers illuminates the crux of the article. In my personal opinion, the construction workers or any people working in manufacturing firms are prone to suffer from work related hazards mainly due to the dangerous tasks they undertake. Therefore, safeguarding their rights is an excellent gesture that is undertaken in the article. I am particularly impressed about the manner in which a diagrammatic representation is made that highlights the manner in which mitigation techniques have evolved.
However, the fact that there are no real life incidents to support the evidently growing common hazards is the main drawback of the article. I believe a few instances could be considered as examples, that highlight the common hazards occurring in the market and the techniques used to mitigate it. Overall, in my opinion the article had been educative to people. Focused only on Singapore, the article could have helped in creating an assessment of the worldwide view of the hazards that take place in these construction sites. For example, thermal environment can be a growing concern for countries around Singapore therefore; the article could provide evidence of hazards occurring in the neighbouring countries.
The major focus of the article is the occupational hazard that may occur in shipyard building and ship repairing industry. The article provides an analysis of the type of hazards that may occur in a ship building industry. I have been made aware that in a ship building industry, it can be difficult for a single person to monitor the activities of every employee, Therefore, it can be said that the hazards in a ship building company is more as compared to other industries. The article provides an analysis of the occupational health hazards along with the physical hazards such as noise that can disrupt the society as well as its people.
It has been described in the article that noise is unwanted sound and can cause great harm to the people particularly in the ship building industry. I agree with the statement, as the constructors need to ensure that safety gear is prevalent so that they can continue to work in a peaceful manner. The effects of noise is in focus in the article and the various in which it can cause damage to the hearing is provided. I believe that the article provides an important analysis of the manner in which noise can be mitigated so that people working at the shipbuilding construction site can have a proper job at the place.
The strength of the article is that it provides an excellent example of the type of noise there exists and its ill effect on human beings. This is particularly educative for me, as I want to pursue a career in engineering. Therefore, working in ship building industry can be considered as my possible place of work. The various types of noises and the exposure standards of the noise are talked about in the article. The equivalent exposure limit of the noise provides an understanding of the control measures that are needed to be taken.
The measures are provided in a brief manner that suggests that the article has undergone research about the mitigation techniques that need to be undertaken. Various programmes undertaken for the mitigation of noise is described and this provides an idea about the desperate attempt that the Singaporean Government take in order to curb the increase of noise pollution in the country. At the same time, the article provides an analysis of the impact that some of the tools create on the body. For example, the use of tools that vibrate may have a severe impact on the hands and legs. Therefore, I can state the fact that the article provides a deep insight about the ill effects caused by noise pollution. However, there are certain aspects that the article does not focus on.
The weakness of the article is that it does not provide a proper knowledge of the mitigation techniques that need to be used. For example, in the case of heat and environmental factors, the detailed manner in which mitigation techniques can be used to prevent the disasters are not stated in the article. I think that this is very important, as the people need to understand the mitigation strategies that exist while dealing with the changes in the temperature. At the same time, the focus is more on the Singaporean aspect rather than that of the world. The preventive measures related to the illness that occur due to health issue are stated but in a vague manner.
In my opinion due to the lack of proper description of the measures that need to be applied the article may fail to provide me and the people with the education that is needed to combat the change in climate. At the same time, the topic had been generalised and I had observed that there was deviation from the initial topic that was supposed to be the focus of the article. Therefore, in my opinion the article lacked depth and at the same time was out of context as compared to the chosen topic.
The analysis of the article is that it lacks depth in explaining the mitigation situation. The article started with the focus on shipbuilding and the mitigation measures required for maintaining the occupational health hazard in the industry. However, I noticed the drift from the topic towards protecting the environment from natural and environmental disasters. At the same time, I have also seen that the mitigation strategies are vaguely explained and that is one of the main reasons behind the lack of depth of the article.
Despite this, the article provides education about the various types of harmful activities that exist in professions. For example, the detailed manner in which the application of noise has been portrayed is a positive aspect in the article. This has provided me with total understanding about the manner in which I can protect myself in case of any noise related to harmful ailment. Therefore, I can say that the overall analysis of the article has provided proper mitigation techniques but at the same time, it lacked conviction about the application of the techniques. Proper manner in which the mitigation technique can be applied is not presented in the article.
