It has been observed that this policy focusses on changing health programs in order to improve health as well as wellbeing of Australian male including the elderly people. In addition to this, Dimick and Ryan (2014) people with ill health outcomes are targeted by this policy. This policy aims to improve the overall health status of the males, especially older individuals, Torres Strait Islander as well as Aborginal individuals. These individuals are encouraged by this policy to access medical services from the existing health and social care organizations in Australia. In addition to this, improving the overall health conditions of individuals including older individuals. In addition to this, policy aims to inspire the employers to fund the materials related to health promotion. It has been observed that this policy has been implemented in the society for raising awareness regarding the chronic illnesses among the elderly people and the males.
It is seen that this policy has been implemented for reviewing the hazards that often takes place within the premises of the workplace and it also monitors the environmental toxins. In addition to this, National Male Health Policy has been implemented for delivering evidence-based health promotion-related messages among the males and elderly individuals of Australia. Not only this, it aims to inspire the employers for introducing health programs for the males and aged individuals. In addition to this, this particular policy inspires the employers for delivering the health checks to the males along with aged individuals. National Male Health Policy has created an influence on the lives of the older people (Dunn 2015). It has been observed that this policy might improve the overall health outcomes of the older people. It might decrease the extent of death rates of older people suffering from chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease etc. It has been observed that older people might receive better medical assistance from the existing health service providers of Australia. It has been noticed that health checks conducted by various health and social care organizations have improved the overall health conditions of not only the males but also the older individuals. Early detection of illness is made possible after the implication of elderly individuals. This shows that National Health Policy has created a positive impact on the elderly individual ls.
Overview of the policy
It is needed to develop the policy after consulting with customers and colleagues. According to Weimer and Vining (2017), it will be beneficial for the healthcare service providers if it allows the older people to provide advanced treatment facilities without paying any cost. In other words, free accessibility to the health services enables the older patients to save their money and their satisfaction index gets increased in the due process (Galí 2015). In addition to this, it is needed for the authorities of the health and social care organizations, to conduct health check-ups for the older people without taking any cost from the old people. Baker, Bloom and Davis (2016 ) asserted that this approach will aid the elderly individuals to access freely the high-quality health services from health and social care settings that exists in Australia.
It is needed for the management of Bethesda hospital to provide free medical assistance to its existing users including elderly patients. It has been observed that this policy should include free health programs in order to improve the overall health outcomes (Birkland 2015). In this regard, it can be commented that it is needed for the managers working at Bethesda hospital to include free health checkups for the users, especially the older patients. Equal attention and care would be paid to elderly individuals by various healthcare professionals, nursing professionals, medical practitioners. This non-discriminatory approach should be included in the policy (Costanza et al. 2014). In this context, it can be stated that non-discriminatory approach of the different medical professionals like nurses, doctors will improve the quality of care and service thereby increasing the reputation of the organization (Watts et al. 2015). From the perspective of English, López-Salido and Tetlow (2015), there should be a provision for wheelchairs in National Male Health Policy. In the opinion of Mayne, Auchincloss and Michael (2015), it will be easier for the disabled person to move freely within the working environment of Bethesda hospital. Apart from this, National Male Health Policy should include provision for offering treatment and care to the older individuals at their residences. In this regard, it can be stated that home care should be provided to the elderly individuals. In accordance with the opinion of Patashnik (2014), this approach will increase the satisfaction level of elderly individuals. As a result, the image of Bethesda hospital will get increased in the due process. It should be noted that hospital authorities should generate awareness among the individuals regarding the signs and symptoms of different illnesses such as dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, stroke and cancer.
Consultation with customers and colleagues to develop National Male Health Policy
It has been observed that health checkups should be implemented within the premises of Bethesda hospital. It has been observed that there are certain things which was found to be missing from this particular policy (Tsygankov 2016). It has been found that this policy could be more holistic in nature. The report of Australian Institute of Health and Welfare examines health of elderly as well as males of Australia in 5 various population groups such as Aborginal and people Torres Strait Islander status, remoteness as well as socio-economic advantage and region of birth as well as age (Sherraden and Gilbert 2016) . It has been found that social determinants of the health is responsible for shaping up the individual’s health status. It has been clearly indicated in the report that there is a connection between the socioeconomic status as well as health. It is seen that about 68% individuals are employed in Australia (Scharpf 2018). In this regard, it can be commented that employment is one of the key determinants that affects the overall health of individuals (The Conversation 2018). In addition to this, incarceration is one of the key determinants that creates a direct impact on the health of individuals including older individuals. In this regard, it can be commented that socio-economic factors play a significant role in shaping health of elderly individuals (). It has been noticed that National Male Health Policy emphasizes on medical approach of the end-stage illness and it also concentrates on behavior (Jiménez et al. 2014) Therefore, it can be stated that social environment that directly influences the health of elderly individuals is found to be missing in the report. In this regard, it can be stated that this National Male Health Policy is successful to some extent .
The National Male health Policy is aimed at improving the condition of the heath of the individuals throughout the country. Therefore it is imperative for the authorities of the national male health policy to device a system that will be effective enough that the whole of the country is successfully serviced according to the plan. The government must make a separate body that will be keeping a track on the developments of the different aims devised as the part of the policy. One of the aim is to take care of the elderly population of the society. This can be done by first collecting the data of the matured population of the country. And then this data must be analyzed in order to understand which part of this population is in need of the highest care. There are healthy elderly people and there are people in this community who are in real need of urgent care. This part of the population in need of urgent care must be outreached by an outreach program. There are existing studies dealing with this. “The Australian Longitudinal Study on Male Health, also known as the Ten to Men Study, is a longitudinal population-based study which focuses on building a strong evidence base in male health. The Study will inform policies, programs and initiatives that promote health and support to males” (Health.gov.au 2018). The government officials along with doctors may visit the homes of these people with an aim to provide the elderly people with primary health facilities and then recommend them what to be done next. The next step is to measure that the implementation of the policy is successful or not. This can be done in the same way by doing a survey among the above mentioned people who are in urgent need of medical care, and whether the policies conditions devised in the above mentioned policy has reached them or not. A monthly inspection is required for measuring successful implementation of National Male Health Policy. Monthly inspection will help the authorities of Bethesda hospital.
There must be a KIP or Key Performance Indicator that will be applied to the implementation of the policy to measure whether the policy is successful and the implementation process is effective enough. The KPI may have several headings and subheadings like the effectiveness of the doctors implementing the policy, their trustworthiness, the timeliness of the policy and various other headings. The hospital must be in tandem with the national standards of the policy in order to keep a synchronization in the KPI that is developed. The hospital may develop their own KPI in synchronization with the national KPI to measure the improvements of the policy.
There must be regular measurement of the outcomes of this policy and the whether it is actually effective among the patients and the elderly men of the society. There must be a separate department taking care of the measurements and KPI findings. This department may be directly reporting to the higher administrative authorities in order to keep a track on the policy outcomes.
Conclusion
From the above discussion, it can be concluded that the proper implication of this particular policy will reduce the extent of health inequity among males and females. It has been noticed that the National Male Health Policy should be included free health checkups in the working procedures of Bethesda hospital so that the older people can save their money and can receive best-quality services from the respective hospital of Australia. It has been noticed that there should be a provision in this policy where it will be clearly mentioned that disabled individuals can use the wheelchair within the premises of the respective healthcare setting. Key performance Indicator should be used for measuring the performance of the employees.
